when you’re adults meeting with a slight age gap that’s fine. when you are an adult watching someone as a child then proceeding to date them when it’s legal (publicly at least) should be a crime.
If I could make a law for that, I would make it so that when somebody turns 18, they can’t have s3x with someone more than 4 years older than them until they are at late twenties-early thirties, when their brains are FULLY developed, after that they can have as big an age gap as they want, as the human brain only fully finishes development at around 25. Also, someone would have to be at least twenty one to be able to get married. It might be flawed, but overall I think it would be a pretty ok system, compared to the current system. It could help in preventing predators from getting what they want and keeping them to a minimum. Any thoughts?

I used to babysit a kid a few years younger than me, and he developed a massive crush. I tried talking to his parents so they'd talk about why that is inappropriate, after I had told him myself, and I stopped babysitting him. They encouraged it instead. We were next door neighbors so I couldn't avoid him all the time. One day, I was working on something in the garden and he comes over and tries to kiss me. I was totally shocked. I was 15, and he was 11 years old. He got the point when I yelled at him for it. I don't want to know what kind of depraved someone has to be to be that old and develop feelings for someone they knew as a minor.
I honestly feel bad for that kid(and other kids in his situation). The parents probably didn't tell him why it's wrong because "its cute to see young love" without realizing the damage they put the child through. He might get preyed upon and think it's normal because of the past reaction of the parents. Or he might harass people who are younger than him for the same reason. I'm glad you helped him realize why it's wrong tho.
@sindy1014 I felt awful about it at the time, still kind of do. It felt like his parents were egging him on, and nothing I said or did mattered compared to that. I'm glad I moved not too long after, because I don't think his behavior would have stopped. I hope that he looks back on our interactions and remembers how I responded to it with more understanding.
This reminds me so much of what happened to me. My mom had a friend and her son was a few years older than me. When I was 12 he was 16 and I obviously had a crush on him and my mom fed into it a lot. Called him her son in law and encouraged him to take my virginity. The night this happened my mom told him to put a sock on the door so everyone knew not to enter and like after the deed was done he went downstairs to indulge details with my mom and say that it had happened. If I could make a law for that, I would make it so that when somebody turns 18, they can’t have s3x with someone more than 4 years older than them until they are at late twenties-early thirties, when their brains are FULLY developed, after that they can have as big an age gap as they want, as the human brain only fully finishes development at around 25. Also, someone would have to be at least twenty one to be able to get married. It might be flawed, but overall I think it would be a pretty ok system, compared to the current system. It could help in preventing predators from getting what they want and keeping them to a minimum. Any thoughts?

I used to babysit a kid a few years younger than me, and he developed a massive crush. I tried talking to his parents so they'd talk about why that is inappropriate, after I had told him myself, and I stopped babysitting him. They encouraged it instead.
We were next door neighbors so I couldn't avoid him all the time. One day, I was working on something in the garden and he comes over and tries to kiss me. I was totally shocked. I was 15, and he was 11 years old. He got the point when I yelled at him for it.
I don't want to know what kind of depraved someone has to be to be that old and develop feelings for someone they knew as a minor.
I honestly feel bad for that kid(and other kids in his situation). The parents probably didn't tell him why it's wrong because "its cute to see young love" without realizing the damage they put the child through.
He might get preyed upon and think it's normal because of the past reaction of the parents. Or he might harass people who are younger than him for the same reason.

This reminds me so much of what happened to me. My mom had a friend and her son was a few years older than me. When I was 12 he was 16 and I obviously had a crush on him and my mom fed into it a lot. Called him her son in law and encouraged him to take my virginity. I think we need to start acknowledge that with a big enough age gap any relationship is about being groomed. He didn’t become a savvy adult the second he hit 18. People who are interested in those a few decades younger than them almost exclusively are invested in the power difference and control, two things they'd struggle to have over someone their own age.

I agree. And I'm a "cougar" aged woman. I know a gal who does the cougar thing & I find her pathetic. She actually thinks there is a relationship, then gets upset when one of her "boyfriends" starts dating a girl his own age, who has smooth, soft skin & not droopy everything. I've had a couple of offers over the years from younger guys & just the thought of it made me feel yucky. One was a friend of my oldest son when I was about 50 & he was 35. That's not even such a big age gap, but there was no way I could bring myself to date him. Not only does it feel creepy to think about, I live in reality & understand that a young man, while he might be happy to plug anything for a time, would not find a saggy, old grandma body attractive. That alone would make me feel very self conscious. Then you consider that people in public would think he's your son & you'd have to correct them. Ugh...no way!

My bio grandmother looked like that at age 60, and that was mainly due to a long life of smoking, stress, and a really bad pain medication addiction along with a bunch of other things. She even bleached and did her hair exactly like cheryl did.
