      @@--mand0r-- bingo. She made something else because she knew it would be worse if she didn't. I was in a marriage like that, it was AWFUL. I did everything and everything I did was wrong in some way. Nothing was ever enough. Worked full time and did LITERALLY everything around the house, still constant verbal abuse. His abuse was more extreme than this, but of course the fact that he does this on camera makes me believe he's worse behind closed doors. It was so hard to get out, I left 10 or more times but finally left for the last time in March.

And then he said my body was a “failure” because I had to have said c-section. *EX* husband. These husbands are so common it’s disgusting.

      @OOhlUkaTmEImGanSTa Місяць тому +3

      I think you should be able to deny eating something if you don't like it. You just need to communicate in a healthy way.
      Both my partner and I cook, but I do the majority of it because I'm a SAHM. I wouldn't want to be serving meals at night that my partner secretly dislikes but is forcing it down for fear of my reaction.
      He just apologises and explains that he doesn't like what he's eating but appreciates the effort. He would never expect me to make him something else, and I just wouldn't purchase it anymore unless I was making it only for myself.
      It's a lot easier now that we've been together for so long. We both cook meals that we know our family enjoys. And if one of us wants to try and cook something different, we communicate beforehand. Both of us are open to trying new things, but if one of us doesn't like something after trying it, that's fine too!
      A thanks and genuine gratitude is needed whether you like something or not, compliment each other on meals, and if you really enjoy it, sing the others' praises. Critism is a lot easier heard when you do that.

    • @jessirarara
      @jessirarara 5 місяців тому +7

      Yup, can attest to this. Not because I have a toxic husband or a toxic mother in law. I actually loved my mother in law like my own mom before she passed. My little brother though.... is a fucking man child. The HORROR stories my sister in law has from his misadventures in "taking care of himself" are hilarious. He is the way he is though... because of my mom. Who I am fully aware is a "toxic mother in law". She just is. I love my mom to death but she is 1000% that mother in law that treats her son like a little prince. To this day she will try to say she doesn't to me and my sisters and we all give her a raised brow at the very least when she does.
      My brother has NO idea how to take care of himself and it's because my mom was the kind of mom that when he was a grown ass man he still went to her house every night for dinner and brought his dirty laundry to her house every week FOR HER TO DO till he met my sister in law. My mom would go to his apartment and clean it for him!
      The hilarious thing though is that HE has started trying to distance himself from her. Not because of how she treats my sister in law, or because he realized that he's a man child because of her. It's because her being intrusive as fuck has started to seep into his life in a negative way, in the fact that she constantly calls him during the day when he's sleeping.
      She's also not just toxic to my sister in law. She's thrown some toxicity my husbands way in the past, but I shut that down FAST. My little sister? She gets HYPER involved in her love life and gets close enough to some of her boyfriends to start calling them her new sons. Creeps EVERYONE out.

    I assumed she was a stay at home mother, but when he mentioned she was a nurse I just stopped because that makes the whole thing _so much worse._
    Being a nurse is not easy. Almost every adult in my family works in the medical field, including my parents, both my grandfathers, all six of my maternal aunts + uncles, etc. so I've grown up hearing tons of stories of what it's like, as well as seeing first hand the long hours my parents both worked when I was young. My mother had problems juggling her career and a kid sometimes, such as being late to pick me up (on rare occasions), or being too tired to play with me because of how hard the job alone was. I can't imagine doing that with _three_ kids.

You do know that it’s a fact that men run the race and women wait at the finish line. A man has to build himself up, this can take most of his life. But a woman doesn’t need to do a thing and can be a nobody and get with a wealthy man. Do all the work? Are you kidding me. Maybe you mean their mental gymnastics? Who helps them wth homework? Who teaches them what is the appropriate social behavior? Because that's definitely not him. It's their mother. Pro tip for emerging adults: whatever you went through as a child, may not have been your fault, in fact, it mostly wasn't.... But when we become an adult, we assume the responsibility to fix the things we carried from childhood. And that is because we don't have the right to subject other people to behavior that is harmful, hurtful or irresponsible. (You'll also feel so much better, promise.)

    • @Zoopop13

      @TamaseiTobari Рік тому +30

      THIS! Childhood trauma and toxic behaviors are difficult to surpass, but it is still your responsibility as an adult to become a better person and stop those behaviors. Get a psychiatrist and a therapist if you can, talk to close friends about those behaviors if you can. If not, just try your best with what you have available. The first step is always recognizing you are wrong and trying to change.
      The problem with people like this man is they don't see their behaviors as wrong or toxic, so they never change. I understand she is trying to cope by taking the blame off of him, but I hope she finds it in herself to stand up for herself.

      absolutely. one of the things i always do when i'm around people a lot is try to be understanding of their situation and don't make things worse. do they snap at you? they're probably just tired. skipped in line? it's ok, just tell them they were wrong. most times they didn't know you were a part of the line and apologize. are they tapping their foot in an annoying way? they're probably just stressed.
      if you sit down and think about it, not everyone is out to get you. they're all just like you, tired and hungry and irritated. they're all trying to get through the traffic or airplane ride or shopping line or even just the day. that of course doesn't mean i excuse some of their more rude behaviors, but it does mean i am more lenient with their situation.
      the point is, for emerging adults, don't think that everyone's out to get you. there's a sense of responsibility of being nice and understanding to others when you're an adult. if you're nice to them, they'll appreciate it and be nice back. i understand the world is horrible and so are people, but that doesn't mean that you have to be one of the people that make it horrible.
      edit: and yes, there is a point where your childhood trauma can't save you. there comes a point where you need to sit down and work through it or simply just don't tolerate someone who refuses to fix themself.

    I'm autistic and can't eat a lot of foods and apologize constantly if someone makes me food and I can't eat it. I can't imagine being this entitled lmao 😭

      I'm not in situations where people make me food who don't know what I like, but I will say I am the main cook of my family and also am autistic, so unless my family specifically requests a certain I'm not making it lol. I feel sorta bad that I don't really know how to make sea food cause most of them love it (even my also auDHD sister), but it tastes and smells so gross they'll have to go out and buy that on their own.

    My husband was also a picky eater, but he doesn't make me bend backwards to make more food. He hates fish, but he'll still eat the salmon I make. He actually thanks me for making him try new things! He wouldn't eat broccoli, peas, ocra, or a majority of green or Asian food before we dated. Now he asks me to make him all those mentioned foods because I put in the effort to make him try it.
    Meaning I hold him down and water board him..... JK but there is effort when dealing with a picky eater.

      I can be a picky eater but if my parents cook me (a grown adult) dinner I will sure as fucking hell eat it even when it is food I do not like because as I am a grown adult the only person who is obligated to feed me is me, everyone else who makes me food is doing it out of the kindness of their heart, it's extra effort they do not have to go to for me but they're doing it so that I don't have to and that is a kindness that I feel genuinely grateful for. I've never had a long term partner but I can 100% guarantee that I could never treat them like this

    As someone with really high food sensitivity I understand not being able to eat food people make for you and preferring to starve to avoid distress, but like, just make your own food then?? And if they’re gonna go and make a new dish you need to shower them with a ton of gratitude because they’re working around your issues you need to be grateful for that.

      I have food sensitivities and also struggle to cook for myself because of disability stuff, but if someone cooks for me and I can't eat it, you bet your ass I'm making myself a pathetic little microwave quesadilla or something instead of asking them to make me something different.

      I see a lot of people pointing out that there are reasons behind them not eating. But i want to point out that this isn't tha situation. He clearly isn't disabled, doesn't have an ed and hes not on the spectrum, he's just a spoiled manchild. Theres so fcking many of those in the world its insane.
