In this video I have discussed in details that why an Asian student shouldn't do llm in UK. There is no practical benefit of doing masters in Law from UK. It doesn't make you eligible for practicing in UK.
You cannot appear as a solicitor or barrister in UK or in any kind. To become a Solicitor or Barrister You must need to follow Graduate Diploma in Law route toward Legal practice course (LPC) or Bar practitioner training course (BPTC). Many universities also offer LLM degree in conversion with BPTC or LPC so that you get double certification after completing the course.
LLM from UK is no doubt a dream for every law student but it your future goals must be crystal clear, If you are aiming to be a part of any academic research or assisting institutional development or research articles writing then this might be the suitable course but if you are planning to appear in court for litigation then choose either LPC or BPTC.

If some person has done LLM , then he /she must appear in their Bar Exam then he or she is able to practice law there if passed. Please don't misguide . All over the world when you pass Law degree then you need to take Bar exam also . llm will qualify you to get appear in bar exam nothing else .

Anyone here who did SQE 1 n 2 and got a decent legal job in UK?
Hi, there was an option of QLTS (qualified lawyers transfer scheme) available to Indian lawyers which is discontinued on account of no response from Bar Council of India but it should be available to lawyers from other countries. Anyway, SQE is another route to becoming a solicitor in UK and even non-law graduates are eligible for it, though its a rigirous and protracted exam and costs GBP 5000.
But i'm sure if you have the green and 2 years of time, the ROI could be pretty good. Research well and Good luck !

It shouldn't not be an issue for you. Once you have skilled worker visa, you can keep searching for other opportunities, grab this one for a while

If you wish to do GDL, you must do it prior to LLM and later on you can get both degrees LLM and LPC which will make you eligible to become solicitor in UK

You have to give an exam for civil judge once you have 5 years old practicing license

Never heard of COAS exempting student. Hundreds of indian students doing GDL for a reason in UK.
@@Coursepro Majority of them are misguided and not provided enough information by the institutes and there is very compact information about this on the university pages. It is just sad that we have to waste 1 year doing GDL after having done LLB.

Well if you are returning back with LLM degree then it is fine but you wont be able to practice in UK with LLM degree. As far as finances are concerned, If you are able to avail opportunity of PSW then you will be able to earn 2 million by hook or by crook.

So I have done my LLB under university of London international programs so it’s a qualifying law degree.
Now I was planning to do LPC +LLM to become a solicitor in the UK.
However, according to the new regulations, am I suppose to do SQ1 and SQ2 instead of LPC? Also if I do SQ1 and SQ2, then I will need 2 years of work experience which I don’t have right now. So I’m really confused as to how I can apply for my PSW. I’m from Bangladesh btw.

Work experience is a must and it can be part time. So you can show 1 year during your last year LLB and one year during sqe 1 and 2. Also it doesn't have any impact on PSW

I’m planing to start my SQ1 and SQ2 course with LLM this September. So I can show 1 year of experience starting from that time. For someone doing a LPC after a LLB (QLD), does a LPC alone is enough to become a solicitor in UK? After the 2 year training contract period ends, does the same law firm sponsor the trainees? Or some of them will have to go back to their mother countries? I'm in a dilemma whether to accept the offer letter or not, bcause' i have already applied for a LPC
Well chances of failure are there, not all students get trainee contracts or sponsorship after T.C. SQE is easy and convenient as compare to LPC

The GDL is specially designed as the conversion course into legal study. It is one of the pathways into practice for non-law graduates. If you have completed an undergraduate degree in a non-law field and want to study law at a postgraduate level you'll first need to complete this conversion course

1) bcoz I was working in a tech company so I never applied for bar council membership so will that be an issue
2) sir do I have to wait for LLM to get over to write sq1 or can I do while I am doing my LLM bcoz I don’t want to waste my 2 year post study visa.
1- if it was in legal capacity it will be considered no matter you had membership of local bar or not, this will be assessed by Solicitor regulation authority and just because its newly implemented policy i cannot comment any further
2- University of law offers replacement of GDL and LPC for south asian law students, i will recommend you to check their courses only they are well prepared for SQE 1 and SQE 2, Even that route will take 2 years or so.

It will be very unwise to do so, why would you spend this much money and not avail lengthy visa? If you follow university of law program, you will still be able to live UK with tier 4 visa in hand and if you do llm from brunel and sqe 1 and 2 online then you may do so, but why would you challenge yourself this much ? SQE 1 and SQE 2 isnt a piece of cake, it will drain all your energy

Not At All, There Are Very Slim Chances To Switch From One Course To Another, Only Possible If Two Courses Are Similar, But Its Still The Discretion Of University To Allow Or Not, They Will Also Consider The Modules You Have Studied So Far And What Are You Going To Study Next.

Australia And Canada Has Similar Position For LLM, You Wont Be Allowed To Practice With Just LLM degree in Hand, Not Sure About America. Both Canada And Australia Gives You PR after finishing This Course, Only Difference Is They Have 2 Years Degree And Uk Has One Year LLM Program

It is always recommended to take 2 different degrees, llm in commercial law will be good choice, as LLM isnt a qualifying law degree so the job scope might be very limited.

O You Mean LPC? LPC has absolute course structure set by solicitor regulation authority, there is no kind of specialization in LPC. These specialization are only offered with LLM programs

bar transfer test is different than bar training course, BTT is like LAT in Pakistan

SQE is a proper degree level exams unless bar council exam. It is much more difficult than that

It depends upon your marks, if you are from Pakistan, then you must have 65% marks for direct enrollment into LLB otherwise you ll start from foundation year
