- Piano Concerto No. 2 by Franz Liszt - one of the most beautiful and stunning concertos of all time, full of emotion, virtuosity and passion.
Franz Liszt wrote drafts for his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 in A major, during his virtuoso period, in 1839 to 1840. He then put away the manuscript for a decade. When he returned to the concerto, he revised and scrutinized it repeatedly. The fourth and final period of revision ended in 1861. Liszt dedicated the work to his student Hans von Bronsart, who gave the first performance, with Liszt conducting, in Weimar on January 7, 1857.

Still listening to this beautiful piece of music
The best performance of Liszt Piano Concerto N.2
How brilliant of Liszt to put a cello-piano duet in the middle of this piece. Most beautiful.
I am obsessed with this phenomenal performance and continue to wonder at the fact that it has less than million views...😢
The best performance Ever !!
So handsome and such a beautiful musician. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
Actually a whole life getting such level, but especially for this concerto I needed few months to learn it. I played both concertos by Liszt in one evening - this was one of the most challenging event in my life.
perfect.
You are marvelous perfect the best
Bravo!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

A master piece, and an incredibly talented ,brilliant pianist, magnificient!!! BRAVO!!!
Happy birthday, Liszt!/22-nd of October/🎈 Love your incomparable, eternal music!❤️
Wow, those 22 minutes passed so fast. Amazing
After listening to this splendid performance, and knowing when it was composed, it is clear to see why Liszt was the most advanced composer of his era. This one piano concerto alone offers more blood, passion, beauty, virtuosity and majestic grandeur than any other concerto in Liszt’s day or previously. It was ground-breaking and utterly sublime.
Yes, the 2-nd concerto surprises everyone who thinks Liszt is all about just technique and fast passages.. It is also my favorite.
I too played both in one night
I really like this piano concerto too.
You have somehow managed to surpass Lazar Berman. I honestly thought it was not humanly possible.
One of the best performances of my favorite concerto by my favorite, composer. What a performance! Come to New York please.
This is my favorite!! I LOVE to listen to this.....soft and then strong surprise when it turns to the fast pace that I love at around 13:00.
Excellent performance. One of the best I've ever listened to.
Georgii, we really appreciate your effort and time in preparing this sublime music for your audiances, your never disappoint us, thanks again.
Wow, thank you so much, Moy!
He plays more like LISTZ (softly AND THEN (WHAT'S THE WORD...) STRONG. HELP ME WITH THIS WORD. HIS HAND MOVEMENT IS DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER PIANIST i HAVE EVER SEEN AND ALTOGETHER, HE HAS IT ALL.
Performance of the highest standards in dynamic control, gorgeous tonal quality and color, passionate expression and technical precision. Bravissimo!!!
Truly incredible.
Liszt is really, really wonderful.
Oh, you are just a gift from heaven Georgii. Thank you ever so much for sharing this. I am just so mesmerized and so absorbed by your playing and full of ecstatic emotions. I can watch and listen to you forever. God bless you more my dear.

A first for me listening to this fabulous young artist and what a treat for the end of a day that's been dreadful. .......and Liszt goes without saying. Will listen over and over again.

+Hs Cutenako He was BADASS!!
at first for me too.. than I felt in love with Brahms :)
Just wonderful!!! Thanks for posting this!!!
This piece is so beautiful
Still my favorite of all my favorites..that only you can play!!
What a wonderful performance - beautifully lyrical and also powerful and inspired! Very effective partnership between pianist and orchestra - thank you for sharing this magical interpretation.
Beautiful music, well played. Thank you
Sublime!
Bellísima obra del admirable Liszt, y excelente interpretación del joven búlgaro Georgii Cherkin!
Superb _authentic_ classical performance -- forcefully haunting and baroque, such as when Deine Lakaien did a performance with the Vienna Philharmonic. However, this 'classic classical' piano concerto lends even more of a Gothic chill to the air than 'modern classical' groups can perform.
I listened to this driving along a rugged stretch of Hawaiian coastline last night in full moonlight. The repeating theme resonated with the variations of surf covered lava flows. Such emotion is never weary, an unapologetic force of nature. And, this performance captures the poetry of the great composer with stunning integrity.
You possess good taste!!!
Belíssimo concerto!! É de fazer a nossa alma chorar de emoção!
I agree very much! Eu gosto muito!!!!
I love this version of lizt's #2 ....more dramatized and passionate. You can feel the music passing through your soul. Well done Cherkin
this is was a fantastic performance, full of lawyers of emotions, it was like watching the ocean waves coming in one after the other with consistency and steadiness, some times soft and subdued and at other times swift and strong... words can not describe how beautiful this performance really is.. Bravo to Georgii Cherkin!!
Thank you! Yes, I plan to upload it soon - actually I played it on the same date as this one, the both concertos in one evening.
what a gifted lad, thank you for that brilliant performance, congratulations
I'm having an eargasm right now. Thumbs up
I have missed this concerto while my computer has been under repair. It is so dramatic, versatile, lyrical and beautiful. Beethoven's 4th and 5th piano concertos are close to to this one,in being massive and bold, but Listz is not Beethoven.
Bravo Georgii!!
Thank you very much for such a beautiful music!
fabulous...omg I am melting
I'm just starting to practice this work at the piano. Very rewarding piece to listen to and to learn! Thanks for your interaction with the listeners on this comment section.
Brilliant performance. Thank you. It's so wonderful.
C'est une telle joie de vous entendre jouer si magnifiquement cette belle composition extraordinaire! Il est l'un de mes concertos préférés de tous les temps.
Thank you so much for sharing, Georgii !
Hope to see you in Milan, Italy some day for another incredible performance like that !
Better call a fire truck. That piano is gonna catch fire. This fellow is brilliant Georgii. He reminds me a little of John Erickson who played the role of pianist in that 50 year old movie Rhapsody. Its uncanny. Thanks for this great gift.
Thank you a lot!
I appreciate this, thanks!
I appreciate it, thank you!
Thank you for sending me this ...it's beautiful.....

A most beautiful performance! Thank You all...John Rapp
BRAVO ! Thank you very much. Excellent playing, I realy like it .
Thank you for sharing! I really like it
Liszt was a fabulous composer and transcriber of others works. He was not Beethoven nor was trying to be like Beethoven. This a fabulously played piece.
Richard Brown Right on the button Richard. Thanks
Liszt didn't try to be Beethoven or anyone else, he surpassed them all as far as being a pioneer. Liszt was not just the leader of his own Romantic era, but laid the seeds for the future Impressionistic and Atonal schools of Debussy, Schoenberg and others. No one in music history was ever credited with being at the forefront of 3 schools of music. Liszt was unique. For more info google the Franz Liszt Site
Well put, and if I may add, those truly interested should read Prof. Alan Walkers three books. They will give you a 'window' into the over one thousand concerts that he gave through every haunt in Europe and Russia, over a seven year period, in order for those less fortunate that would never have the opportunity to go to concerts or hear the Masters from Bach to Chopin, including his compositions. Alan Walker spent over twenty years, following Franz Liszt life, from his barnstorming virtuosity, to his Weimar years when he took orders to be a Priest, and translation of over eight hundred works, including all Beethoven nine symphonies.
These piano both concertos by Liszt are the most beautiful and marvelously stunning I ever heard in my whole life time so far, how you challenge to play is extraordinary even as lifetime
