- For this video I am going to be unboxing my latest XL Filmarena edition of Backdraft on 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray. I will also be sharing my thoughts on the 4K transfer.

Hey Patrick. Trust me you need to see this movie in 4K you will not believe how phenomenal it looks. Like I said in the video it looks like it was shot today. Definitely one to check out especially being a fan.
I loved this movie I was 14 years old when this film came out, I was really considering becoming a fire fighter when I was an adult but instead, I became a welder instead of stopping fires I create fires by welding steel great review Keith keep it up.

I’m so glad you made this video Kieth. I have this steel book and just that alone is absolutely a must have all on its own, but since purchasing Film Arena’s “Tenet” I’ve really been on the fence about this one especially since like you said, “it’s still available on Film Arena’s site.
Everything you said about this film, I couldn’t agree more. The picture quality, the practical effects used, and the sound…holy cow the sound. This may be one of the best DTS demo worthy discs ever to be released, and it’s a shame it gets so little recognition. I felt I was in the minority of fans of this film and simply gave up talking about it, but your video really got me fired up with excitement and reminded me how much I enjoyed this disc set.
One particular scene that comes to mind is when the Fire Engines roar out of the station to a fire…the sound of that DTS X mix really blew me away and for the first time I really knew what all the talk of “Immersive sound” was all about.

I was just like yourself I had the Steelbook and I almost wasn't going to buy this release because of that but I was able to gift it to John over at Mondo Chelloveck Movies so it gave me a reason to order this release and I'm so happy I did and I wouldn't be one bit surprised if you tell me in the end that you got it yourself. If you love that Tenet release trust me you are going to love this. I was under the assumption that this movie was well loved but it doesn't seem to be the case and I found out to be very surprising. I loved it from day one and I still love it as much today. When it comes to the sound there is one scene that sticks out for me and it's the very first backdraft that you hear in this movie. It's frightening the way the sound is done. A huge thank you my friend for stopping by. I hope my video will somehow inspire you to pick up this release and I really hope you do

Thanks for sharing. Looks awesome. I love this movie and when I was a kid I got to experience the Backdraft ride at Universal Studios. It also used real fire and you could feel the heat from the flames. It's something I'll never forget.
Now I want to watch the movie again. 😄
I never realised there was a backdraft ride in Universal Studios especially one that was using real flames. That sound insane. I need to look it up and see what it's like. It's such a strange movie to base a ride on.

Good review Keith. Agree it’s a great transfer. I’d make a shout out for Scott Glenn too who I think is an underrated actor. He’s great in this (and others eg training day, night of the running man).
I completely forgot about Scott Glenn when I was shooting the video. Maybe one of the reasons to why I didn't want to mention him is because I didn't want to risk spoiling the movie for anyone. But as you said he is a phenomenal actor and a great shout out with training day.
That's an absolute belter of a set. Backdraft is a great film. Probably the best thing about this set is unlike the Hard Target special edition, it doesn't come with a copy of Backdraft 2 😂
That is absolutely brilliant. I still never got around to watching Hard Target 2 and to be honest I can't see myself doing it. If backdraft 2 was inside this edition I don't think I would have bought it 😆 🤣. Thank you for checking it out Leigh

Good review. Would’ve liked to have seen some screenshot comparisons between the blu ray & 4k, though (didn’t you used to do that in your reviews?)
Yeah I used to put them up but to be completely honest it's not a perfect representation of what I was seeing because I was simply using my camera to capture it directly from the television and sometimes I noticed when I did it the Blu-ray would look better even though it wasn't. I would love to do it professionally someday.

I really need to start looking into spaghetti Westerns because it's a genre that I wouldn't mind getting into. I might check out that arrow Video release

Backdraft is such a good movie, your channel is so dangerous to watch for me i end up wanting half the sets you show on here but when i look like i just did for Backdraft the price to get it is just incredible and with shipping to Australia it would cost me $235, sigh another one i will have to do without 😥 but great video though
Hey Paul. The delivery charge from filmarena can be quite expensive and normally what I do is wait till I buy two or three items from them just so I can justify the price of the delivery which doesn't change regardless of how many items you put in you're basket. But there was no way I would ever spend $235 no matter how beautiful I think the release is. It simply not worth it. Sorry about that my friend
Sorry I'm late Keith, I just got back. Wow, this is a movie I haven't seen for about 30 years Keith, I'm going to have to revisit this one. I do remember enjoying it, and like you said it has a great cast. Whatever happened to William Baldwin, you don't see him any more, he kind of faded away.

I stayed away from the sequel like the plague Steven. I knew not to go near it. It looked horrible
Another great video Keith, not sure if I'd want to D Dip as it's about 65€..got the original universal copy. One of my 1st 4K'S I bought. The effects are amazing. Sod it I'm buying it.. had a look at the I.T. set.shame its only blu..keep the video coming Keith 👏👏👏👏

Being a ex fire officer alot of the film wouldn't happen in real life
I kind of figured that Garry. I've done a video wow it must have been over two years ago of a Steelbook of this movie and a real firefighter came onto the comment section and he was fabulously offended by that movie. I tried to explain to him that it was your typical Hollywood movie and it's just meant to be entertaining but he was having none of it
