      Which is not the case, varies by market. Option 1: heat pump only in Ultra version. Option 2: heat pump only in extended range and twin motors regardless of trim (even in Core). We have this latter case in Hungary.

    It has amazed me that car manufacturers, put big touch screens, that control absolutely everything in these cars. If police catch you sending texts on your phone, you are in big trouble. Yet it seems perfectly fine to try and navigate your way through an iPad type device. You even have to take your eyes off the road to see if you are breaking the speed limit. Who the hell thinks this is a good idea? 😂

    • @julianguffogg

      In a 1959 Mini or indeed a Morris Minor you had to take your eyes off the road to see the speed. People managed. And this Volvo has voice control for many functions. I suspect you might just be able to get used to most things. Maybe not the dopey electronic latch for the glovebox, but most things.

      @@androo4519 Just because they had it before, doesn’t make it a good idea. Obviously people managed, but I also wonder how many people had accidents checking their speed, instead of looking at the road.

    I was told by a Volvo salesperson two months ago that only the top of the range model came with a heat pump and that specifying one on other models was not possible. He was quoting Volvo literature. It makes a lot of sense that all cars should have a heat pump, particularly in Northern Europe. Perhaps Volvo have listened to customer feed back.

    A fan of the EX30 design and offering but just BEWARE that the cheapest version does NOT have a HEAT PUMP so expect to have at least a 30% reduction of the range when running in colder climates, which is very poor considering the max range is 209 miles!!! So getting only around 140mile range for a £33k electric vehicle is shocking and no excuse and heat pumps should be standard on all EVs.

    • @lowfeelsblvd
      @lowfeelsblvd 7 місяців тому

      It is, but that's like saying "Rolexes can be bought for less than 12k now! Cracking value!" it doesn't negate the fact most people cannot afford this car. You're looking at £450-£550 a month just for the PCP. If this is the standard, very few people will be going for new cars in the next 5 years. This hikes demand for used cars and increase their prices, which means eventually nobody earning less than £50k will be able to afford a car.@@DeanoEV60

    • @androo4519

      When they're on a leasing deal, the full asking price doesn't register for most people. They just see a monthly cost they can afford and ignore the true cost. It's only those of a certain generation that save the money and stump up the full cash and see £33K as an outrage.

    Would love to know how many people have actually lived with a Tesla Model 3/Y before complaining about the speed location. I find, at least, that it's actually a much better driving experience having the dash so low and such a great view to the outside with speed still in your view. Though the location does look further from the driver's eyeline in the EX30, I really don't think it's an issue at all. Same for screen controls, I find the Tesla's screen is much, MUCH easier to control than our other Citroen e-C4 where its buttons are all over the place in the cabin. Obviously it's down to the driver, but I'd stress people should actually live with a car's set-up before complaining about it. EX30 looks like an awesome car, look forward to trying one out.

    Just been to see this car at the reveal event. I drive a cupra born, the outside of the ex30 looks bigger and more chunky but the inside is much smaller! Felt very packed in, tight feeling. Rear seats are very low, my knees were up really high. Everything felt good and solid but textures lacked a quality feel compared to a couple of rental XC60's i've had in the past. The single screen was just too busy, tiny option button options. The boot is small, much smaller than my Born. Fiesta size inside. I was expecting to love and order one of these today from seeing pictures and reviews, but it took me less than 7 minutes to decide nah and leave. I have a feeling I am the 1 in a 100 that doesn't like it. The sales people all looked shocked as me and the missus walked straight out 😖I've had an ID3 and Born and you look at it and think small, sit in it feels bigger. The EX30 is the reserve, looks big and chunky get in and feels small, even the glass roof didn't remove the feeling of being packed in.

    Amazing design and drive experience but only one screen for everything (a.c, speed rate, media, etc.) is impractical and crazy. Doesn't worth for minimalist interiors.

    The interior isn’t quite the most interesting, which is a shame. It’s not minimalism, it’s cost savings really. That trend of having absolutely everything on a screen is unsafe while driving.
    It’s far from a luxury interior like Mercedes-Benz does.
    The exterior design looks good though.

  • @VenVile
    @VenVile 7 місяців тому

    I really wanted to like this car, but the lack of practical functionality for driver controls, and the cramped back seat make it a no-go for me. I do not understand why car manufacturers are moving away from buttons. You don't need a whole lot, just hazards, volume dial, heating/cooling. If your designers know intuitive design, this can literally be 3 buttons and two dials. I know they're trying to cut costs, but I seriously doubt this ramps up productions costs that much, especially if they're physical buttons but only work digitally.
    The money they saved by removing the buttons could have been used to implement a HUD, but I guess that's still reducing profit margins for them. I'd rather pay £1000 more for a few buttons.

Regardless--companies going for the 'Tesla' look (read: the hideous, plasticky cheapness that generates the most criticism of Teslas) isn't exactly a selling point. If you're forking out tens of thousands of pounds for a car, why would you settle for a car with the interior of a glorified Fiesta?

    No speedo in front of sterring is deal breaker... also you are a bit wrong with its cheaper to make door without bottoms.. there stille need to be a wireharness in the door. so the price is NOt really cheaper for them to make.. there is door motor for windows, also wire for locks, and maybe some sensores and handel heaters as well so remove the panel bottoms is NOT a cheaper thing to make.

  • @francisdoran971
    @francisdoran971 6 місяців тому +1

    Quite interested at first when the price for the base model came out and it is a good looking car, but interest waned rapidly when the details became clear.
    Simple heat adjustments only through touch screen, mirrors the same.
    The excessive power for the base model is unnecessary and likely to push up insurance costs for owners.
    Not much space in the rear, boot quite small, a sliding rear seat, like its counterpart, the Smart#1, would have compensated somewhat for that, when not carrying passengersin the back.
    No heat pump on the base model.
    A parts bin special from China with a Volvo badge on the front.
    It can tow though, so thats good.
    Love the looks, but it goes downhill after that.

    Tesla sold close to 2.000.000 cars with a screen in the middle and no driver display....
    My 23 Corvette C8 HTC has a steering wheel that is no round, and I love it. Tesla has a Yoke steering wheel available for several models.
    This is not an SUV, it is pretty much the dimensions of a VW Golf GTI, so think about it as a hatchback.
    You are getting a 3.4 seconds AWD car for under 40K Dollars
    Fit and finish of the car is superior to Tesla
    Volvo voice control works great (at least it did on rental XC 40)
    There will be aftermarket plug and play screen displays, as they are for Tesla and other EV's. Usually they are not expensive and they are not hard to install.
    4 years 50K miles warranty..... For $2500 you can get an extended 10 year warranty ($250 deductible).
    8 Years 100k miles battery warranty
    Volvo safety
    After a lot of research and seriously considering other cars as my daily drivers, placed the $500 deposit today.
