Oh god this song gives me the most beautiful, painful, nostalgic feels. Used to listen to the entire Diary album on my 1st generation iPod, driving down the highway in my vw beetle- going through a lot of change and hard shit at that specific time in my life. Hearing this almost hurts..but in a good way if that makes sense

When the chorus starts it gives me the chill, we just understand as people said that we know those days are over, its the end of an Era like Ted Mosby said haha... its just pure melancholy and a weird sense of liking the sadness... I feel you guys. Its nice to know we are experiencing similiar things... it feels less lonely

This was the song that gave me a whole new outlook on the emo genre and music itself. Today, there's a massive stigma telling someone one of your favourite music genres is "emo" because they'll immediately associate it with the fad of 'emo hair/clothes/makeup' and the Screamo/alt metal heard today. But this song truly captures the genre; if it was condensed in to one song, it'd be this, that's how important this song and their album Diary is. It's a shame people don't appreciate the emo genre for what it actually is, bands like Sunny Day, American Football, Lifetime have influenced several bands over the years and it's sad how they don't get the recognition they deserve.
Great feedback. I'm actually a drummer in an emo band. I hate when I tell people that and they associate it with looking like I'm a walking billboard for hot topic. Sunny day, American football, both awesome emo bands. Idk if you know who empire, empire (I was a lonely estate), foxing, snowing, mineral, prawn, or dikembe are, but they're all fantastic emo bands.
The way I described emo is exactly what it is. What I described is known as the emo revival. The original emo bands who set the stage for it are sunny day, mineral, and rite of spring. The emo revival is spearheaded by empire empire. Other bands that fall into it would be prawn, a great big pile of leaves, the world is a beautiful place and I'm no longer afraid to die, elvis depressly, snowing, algernon cadwallader, and foxing among others. It can often be identified by twinkly guitar riffs and somewhat high pitch borderline whiny vocals with intricate but not so flashy rhythm sections.
My fiancè and I just saw them last night in Philly and they were so freaking unreal good. I can't believe I actually got to see them live. They all still have it together.
In the late 90's I would sit in my car in the kroger parking lot after work with a girl I loved very much and we would just sit for hours and listen to music, stare at the stars and hold hands and this is one of the songs I heard while sitting there with her so every time I hear it it brings back one of the fondest memories of my life. 2 other songs that bring back the memory of her and those nights are: love spit love - am i wrong, the nixons - sister. Out of all the songs we heard while sitting there these 3 seem to take me right back inside that car with her.

well that kinda explains why he joined Foo Fighters, band name wise lol
@Choose A Better Name that's highly speculative tho. Its a comment from a random person on UA-cam. It can easily not be true at all.
Lying bastard
One of those songs that still holds up after 10 years of frequent listening
The drums kick ass in this song 🤝🔥
Makes me miss my brother. Beautiful.
Sunny Day Real Estate and American Football make me cry everytime. For real.
i don't think I would survive without this song. This song keeps all my pieces together. #INEEDIT
Bro so heavy but so soft too wow
one of the best songs that year
I remember having this song in my head for many, many years without knowing the name, the band or the lyrics. Just the melody of the chorus. Finally after watching a Hum's video and seeing the recomendations I've ran into it 🙏
Man, I saw these guys lots of times, they always were great live.
My D.O.B. is 9-16-1976 I dedicate this song to all my party family from 1993 til infinity...
@Steve Cassady from Sammamish High School. I dedicate this track to you, brother. Much love at age 41 to you, brother. I know you are looking down upon us right now. I never stopped loving you as a brother. Stay strong Steve. I love you like a brother. May your parents and your three sisters live in good health and great wealth. Thank you KASB 89.3.
Im just discovering underground great 90s Alternative Rock Music, this is a great find. Much better than many new Rock songs today.
What a sick song, the drums hitting hard, the bass deep af, guitars on point with the melodic riffs, soft spoken lyrics that hit hard…. What real music was 30 years ago ❤
when i was young i used to really identify with this music. now i just look back and smile.
Beyond beautiful, evocative, everything. My one true music love for years upon years. I will always be incredibly grateful they've existed and been in my life.
The drummer, the vocalist and the guitarperson really pull this song together. Just need one more addition to really blow up.
Memories brought me here.
Saw them a few months ago and age hasn't caught up to them at all. They are amazing. I hope they tour again here soon.
Viva os anos 90, Pqp eu amo Essa Banda!

Oh...Henrietta thanks for show me this wonderfull group...
I've been listening to this band alot, especially how it feels to be something on, and WOW. This was genuine music straight from the heart. Amazing instrumental talent and lyrics that make me stop and reflect what they mean and how they just... feel. Love these guys. I wish everyone the best.
This was the first SDRE song I heard and I was instantly hooked. Crazy nostalgic finding this video today
Never knew the bassist of Foo Fighters was in this band back then.
So was their first touring drummer
@@DrummerEvan1 William Goldsmith
2019, hopefully all of them being some reunion, maybe a cople live concert !!!

Much glorious love from when this was all new! I was lucky to be a teenager then 🙂
William Goldsmith!!!!!! What a fuckin beast on the drums!!
Such a tight band. Drummer deserves a lot of respect despite not fitting in to The Foo Fighters. Style just didn't fit but he is incredible.

So sad and special.
"I live to heal your wounds, but I bleed myself." Really cool song. Loud on a good sound system this song really rips. Great era of rock. Another song "SEVEN" is awesome too.
I’m here cause I needed Northwest bands on my playlist. I can say these guys are definitely underrated and should’ve been in my rock hemisphere over time.
Comentario en español! Me encanta SDRE lml tambien soy fan de Mineral, Rainer Maria, Penfold. el género Emo siempre ha sido mi favorito
