    Super helpful video. I couldn't figure out why my Custom Dial seemed so limited, but this makes sense now. Thanks!

      Long shot, but I cannot seem to get my custom buttons or assignable buttons to work am I missing something? Closest comment to what I'm dealing with and can't find any help online.

    Hello,
    Great video! I just purchased the xf405 and I was wondering if I could use 4 lavaliers if I were to split the 3.5mm with a Comica CVM-AX3?
    Thanks!

    Is there a auto iso or auto gain or auto exposure feature?

    Really great camera, I was experimenting with it in a store. It's so excellent in every features, with one major catastrophic limitation (at least in 2018), there is no Canon Log Look/Profile. At 10:21 you nicely demo the merits of Wide DR, which is really brilliant. But, omitting Canon Log might be a deal breaker, especially now that Sony released its Z90/NX80/AX700 camera line all including Log profiles. I think, I'll postpone my buy till February to see, if Canon Log could be an option. I'd be willing to pay for it in a similar way as for 5DmIV.

      this bugs me too so does the white balance being stuck till you turn record off. I know they are adding a new codec maybe when they do that log will be part of the firmware?

      Can the shutter speed, iso, ... be changed on the fly while recording. HUGE drag on no white balance change!

    What would you recommend for adjusting the exposure? Using the scroll wheel or touch screen? I also have a Vixia G10 which is smaller than this camera. What tripod would you recommend for a nice stable platform?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  4 роки тому

      Hello David;
      The XF400/405 has a number of customizable controls that allow you to set the camera to your specific shooting condition. Using the Custom dial is very helpful if you wish to make exposure adjustments on the go and can be faster than going into a menu on the touch screen. The best option will depend you what you are recording and your creative intent.
      While Canon does not make video tripods, there are dozens of companies that offer these. Generally you will want to consider a tripod with a “fluid head” tripod head. Fluid heads are designed to dampen the sudden movements and vibrations of the camera. Fluid head tripod heads allow for smooth controlled panning action.

    I like the wide DR setting to keep from blowing out bright areas, but the picture seems softer and with less color. I did just see in the video that the sharpness and color depth can be adjusted with menu settings and I can try out those settings. If I wanted to improve the picture in Premiere Pro, should I just increase the exposure and sharpness?

      Hi James:
      Questions on how to use a specific software are best answered by the maker of that software or on their forum. You can find a link to Adobe Premiere Pro support here: helpx.adobe.com/support/premiere-pro.html.
      Hope that helps.

    Can this camera have its settings changed while filming?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  6 років тому

      Hi there. While you can change zoom and focus while recording, settings for exposure, recording format and the like must be set prior to recording. We hope this answers your question.

    On the XF405 when should you use the Microphone Attenuator? how does this differ to Mic Trimming?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  5 років тому

      Mic Trimming adjusts the microphones sensitivity. However, the Mic Attenuator is useful when the audio levels may look ok, but the sound is distorted. We hope this explanation helps!

    On the xf405 in manual mode do you have to change shutter speed and aperture via menu?? Also do you have proper focus peaking ?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  5 років тому

      Hi there. In Manual mode, the aperture, shutter speed and gain values will appear at the left of the screen. To adjust them, you will need to press FUNC and select the setting you want to change. Also, Focus Peaking is available on the XF405. We hope this information helps.

      CanonUSA is is possible to change the aperture and shutter speed without going into the menu / function? I.e have a dedicated dial or button on camera ?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  5 років тому

      Hello again. Changing these settings does require entering the FUNC menu. However, you can connect the camcorder to a network and operate it remotely from another device on that network using the Browser Remote function.

      @videozone092 5 років тому

      oh i just got informed that i have pal version which can not set up for ntsc by customer. I have to send it to canon for upgrade to ntsc. How much that costs?

    • @CanonUSA
      @CanonUSA  5 років тому

      @@videozone092 Hi, Kimi! Canon camcorders are region-specific and are thus designed to use PAL or NTSC exclusively depending on where they're sold. To find out more about the availability of upgrades, we recommend contacting the Canon company in your country. You can find them by visiting canon.us/ta6a and click your country or region on the map.
      We hope this helps!

      Hi there. Most of the more commonly used NLEs support the XF400 / XF405 video format, so you shouldn't have a problem with that. However, we recommend that you check directly with the vendor of your preferred platform to make sure their software supports it. We hope this helps.

      @@CanonUSA Hi!
      Unfortunately I can not find those Canon XF-205 videos on that web link. I can find only Drivers, Software and Manuals and more including Firmware and FAQ's.
      I think, that all those videos are gone am I righ? If those videos are deleted it's fine, but if those videos are still somewhere can you help find them.
      Hope you can help me.

    Does it have a 6.3 plug for headphones for monitoring, like the Audio Technica BHPS1?

    This makes no sense 2.8 goes to fstop 4 full zoom? My canon g30 can lock f2.8 thru the full 20x zoom. I know it's 1080p but why did canon cripple the lens to decrease light on full zoom? Maybe this explains why no one is selling their canon g30 online.....

    I'm renting this to shoot a wedding next month. Do all 4 audio channels record separately on the output file? I'm going to use an XLR shotgun + a 1/8th Rode Wireless Go 2. Also, I may shoot the whole thing on 4k60 anyone want to talk me out of that?
