I think your a great service to the engine builder novice or seasoned builder. And you sure seem to enjoy sharing your knowledge and assembly tips were all grateful for that. I sometimes use a stethoscope with a rubber tube on the end to listen for where the leakage is when doing a leak down.
Another excellent video, Allan. I'm sure it's a lot of extra work producing multi-episode videos for a single project but I have to say that I think it's worth the effort, certainly for us less experienced hot rodders. Seeing the project from concept to completion really paints a complete picture of the entire process. Thank you for taking the time to take us along throughout the entire process. I'm looking forward to future episodes.
I have always used silver paint on steel head gaskets with no issues, but I do have copper weld through primer which might be better. Just a tip, a harmonic dampener install tool can be made from a 6" long piece of fine thread ready rod, a lugnut, some washers, and a outer front wheel bearing!
Good point Steve. Yes, I do that as part of the cam degreeing process, which I did not demonstrate in this video. Sometimes the TDC can be off by a few degrees. Thanks for pointing that out. AG
Merry Christmas Alan and crew. Another good video. I did notice a little bubbling from the head gasket at 4 minutes 38 seconds. Not sure how significant that is compared to the leak down through the valves and new rings.
I would like to offer help. When editing the next video go to the sound bar before you edit any of you clip. Maximize the volume and then do what ever editing to that clip. The commercials blow my ears out because I have to turn the video up. We are about ready to get back on our 4 bolt main also.
Merry Christmas or holiday of your choice, have a great one for you and the family. A great video as per usual there's a lot of magic in here, for anybody paying attention. Oil is necessary, enough is important too much is....... Say Hi to Barry at Performance Unliimited, they always treated us well in the last century. I guess that's why they are still around, (-:
I'm surprised the an adjustable wrench is a tool of choice for installing the balancer. I get the ease of use but having the correct size wrench in the tool box is a high probability. And what are the odds of the balancer outer and inner rings slipping out of alignment?
I love that comment "You're going to try to outsmart the factory guys. " So true !!
Thanks John. AG

At this point it would be appropriate to recalibrate the timing pointer with a dial indicator on cylinder number one piston at tech.
That’s TDC

The inner ring on the balancer doesn’t move on an install or uninstall of a balancer.
Thanks for your comments Erik. A TDC check during cam degreeing can verify if the balancer has slipped. It is rare but can happen. AG
👍👍👍
Thanks Mark.AG
Looks like your head gaskets is leaking .When you fist sprayed the brake clean into the intake port
good catch Mike, yes they were and we did address it later.AG
That oil pump stud looks a little short
Good catch James, thanks AG
You actually had a leak at the head gasket to on the intake side
good catch James, I did notice that after we published the video, later we torqued the head a little tighter.AG
If you don't have a proper tool "Bang it a few times with the handle on your hammer and drive it home."
Thanks for watching and commenting John.AG
good observation Toby, just glad it wasn't mine. AG
