I was at a show at Gotham in NYC and Seinfeld dropped in and did half an hour in front of 1/3rd full room. He was literally just pulling post-it notes out of his pockets and reading the premises he wrote on them and just riffing and he leveled the place.

I get my taste is different, but there are comics I don’t find funny, and understand how others can find them funny. Not with Seinfeld. “Why do they call them Great White Sharks, WHATS SO GREAT ABOUT THEM!!!”
No,Isaidposse the dudes a billionaire in comedy. He’s doing some thing right.
Looks like Seinfeld can read an audience and customise his act accordingly.
Sounds like...
Seems to appear..
Not just that he’s saying stop doing the same material for decades but to each his own if his fans only like the same jokes over and over year after year cool I personally like new material after the horse has been beaten to death
He can make a terrible set for any audience.
Technically that's what Amy Schumer does as well
He says he sucked one show and murdered another show.
I also watched the video
Funny. I remember, as a Seinfeld fan, I wasn’t into his stand-up so wasn’t pumped for the show. Hilarious show. Genuinely surprised me. Did some old bits too but he was actually funnier than I’d ever seen him. Like 4-5 years back
Same. His standup is clever but not funny in my opinion. I think about his jokes and smile sometimes but I never burst out laughing at his standup.
To be fair.. I've seen Joe Rogan's act... and its not that great.
So true. Seinfeld does old stuff that WORKS and gets LAUGHS. Never laughed at Rogan stand up. Jeselnik I find hilarious though.
Love the podcast but can’t even sit through Joe’s standup
He just yells. He's a less funny Sam Kinison.
He’s horrible... he just yells a lot
his last Netflix special was super funny!
In his stand up specials, this guy only does one kind of joke. He sets up something heartfelt, and then it's a bait and switch with an edgy punchline. Over and over
Pretty accurate
You got, and to be honest I do find some of his stuff funny, but I could watch that live on Broadway Seinfeld special over and over and still laugh every time.
plus the whole joke is a lie
Agree; a perfect example of his formulaic joke would be this:
Premise:
I can't stand watching my friend crying and suffering over his very sickly daughter.
Punchline:
So I killed him and his daughter so they would not suffer anymore
All day long
I love stand up but not on repeat. Props to anyone that can sell the same bits repeatedly.
Yes, thank you, I saw it in New York and had the same exact reaction.
I was at a show at Gotham in NYC and Seinfeld dropped in and did half an hour in front of 1/3rd full room. He was literally just pulling post-it notes out of his pockets and reading the premises he wrote on them and just riffing and he leveled the place.
"Comedy Central and Coachella put together a thing..." the most San Francisco thing of all time.
When that sentence started with "It's that thing..." I was so hoping for a Stefon moment;)
"it like comedy festival and Coachella put together a thing..." i find that the more "hip" the event is, the more appealing simple of an adjective is used to describe it.
„Bats. They look like hamsters that got an idea.”
I will always love Seinfeld even just for this joke.
People laughed.
Point Seinfeld.
If you go watch Seinfeld, that means automatically you are dumb enough to laugh at any shit he throws at you..... C'mon, where's this people self respect.... So many smart comedians around!
"Anthony Je... I refuse to learn that last shity name..." - patrice o'neal

@@thefilmsoapy Yes and if you are unaware, watch his show Elephant in the Room and listen to the immense catalog of his legendary appearances on the Opie and Anthony Show.
“Old man corny! 😁” - Joe Rogan
Jeselnik's aggressive cadence sometimes reminds me of Simon the IT guy from The Office.
Yeah you dated Amy Schumer, your opinion on comedians is beyond irrelevant buddy.
At least it was while she was moderately attractive and still unfunny. I’m ashamed to admit it but I didn’t think she was bad to look at on Sheen’s Roast. Until she opened her mouth.
By the way.. I understand saying “still unfunny” might imply she’s funny now. That’s not at all what I’m going for.
Amy Schumer being unfunny isn't the problem. Amy Schumer trying to be funny is the problem. I'm sure no-one will appreciate the distinction.
Score!
What does his opinion on comedians have to do with who he used to nail?
I love Seinfeld on interviews more than his stand-up.
Lucas Bill Burr is overrated
Agreed
@@Cuca-hn3md" im telling you for the last time" is probably his best stand up. He was at his peak. You might like it might not, should check it out though
Seinfeld fuckin sucks in every way
Theres a lot of comics that are way more funny on interviews/podcasts vs their material. Rogans material is horse shit.
I love this story. It's hilarious how accurate he is here.
I think Jeselnik is describing a polished, seasoned professional when he acknowledges that Seinfeld makes his act fit the audience. Some people hate polish, but it's not easy to achieve and is a skill in itself.
This guy reminds me of a medieval restaurant waiter

Pretty hard to believe considering all the footage of him doing standup is never funny.

Seinfeld is a comedic genius... There's not a thing on God's green earth, this guy or anyone else could say to me, to change my mind 💯
Jeselnick's roast should just be everybody talking about how he was with Schumer.
If Seinfeld is “aggressively corny”, then Jeselnik tries too hard to be edgy.
Emilio Garibay being described as“Tries to hard to be edgy” It’s pretty much how you can guarantee that rogan will like u as a comic
Emilio Garibay he's 60 years old. he SHOULD be aggressively corny. Hes earned it
Ok calling someone edgy is a terrible way to just dismiss someone, just because they have a different opinion than you.
Shat ho I’m not dismissing him at all, lol. He called Seinfeld “aggressively corny”, and I’m saying that Jesselnik tries too hard to be edgy. How am I trying to dismiss him?
This guy's a square
When you order your Dane Cook off wish you get Anthony Jeselnik
Fun fact: In the script for American Psycho, it was supposed to be Jerry Seinfeld's comedy the character was riffing on, just before the axe scene, not Huey Lewis and the news song.
To be fair that just good business as a showman. He knows his particular demography and play to it. Unlike other comedians, with a specialization style, Jerry has always had a pure main stream act . This means he has the advantage of adjusting his delivery/material based on his audience.
Anthony Jesselnik critiquing Jerry Seinfeld is like me critiquing NASA building the Saturn V.
Bullshit. Seinfeld is old and out of touch and not funny
Not really. I love the show Seinfeld but his stand-up has always been very middle of the road.
You guys don't know what you're talking about. Look at other comedians talking about seinfeld and I mean look at other *good* comedians. The best out there, call jerry one of the best still.
And a testament to that is that he is still coming up with new material. He made a show for kids, obviously he will dumb it down. Jerry is a god, top 5 comedians of modern times
@@theeboy72 that new material is some corny garbage. It's a subjective matter but for me I think Jerry is wildly overrated.

I think Anthony is mad because Jerry can change his act for the audience, while he just has the "Deadpan Offensive" schtick he always uses
Well they’d be the same in that regard.
Jeselnik: Deadpan Offensive
Seinfeld: Pun-Based Irony
They can both switch up the jokes, stylistically it’d probably be about the same from show to show

His whole point went over your head. You just got pissy and quit listening because he didn’t like something you liked

now you know how i feel when audience laugh to your joke Antony
I saw Seinfeld in person for the first time about a year ago and it was amazing. His timing and presence is unbelievable when you see him in person, something you can't really grasp unless you see it live
I thought it would be dry and i was in stitches all night. Been to many shows and i would say it was top 3.
Yeah. That’s his genius, is that he can make something mundane like coming to the show funny as hell. That’s not Corny, that’s good joke writing.

Seinfeld has a tone in his voice and a rhythm that if you enjoy that he's entertaining. NUFF SAID 💯 MAD RESPECT FROM EAST LONG BEACH
I respect the honesty, it's not like he really has to feel anything about anyone and the show was interesting.
Seinfeld always reads his crowd and performs for the specific demographic in the crowd. To change up your act and be so flexible is the hallmark of a great comedian. This guy's just pissed that he can't do that.
He totally knows his audience. Funnier than Seinfeld.
Seinfeld is indeed talented but in doing so he loses Genuineness and charisma for a lot of people
He didn't "read the crowd." That's ridiculous. He knew who the show was marketed to and then prepared his act accordingly.
