  • Bekki has been to prison five times for break and enter, escaping police custody and driving under the influence of drugs.
    She is one of a growing number of women ending up behind bars in Australia. In fact, there are now more women in Australian jails than ever before.
    Once women are released from jail, they are now more likely to reoffend because of the difficulties they face getting housing and employment.
    In this investigation, Four Corners follows Bekki as she adjusts to life on the outside, reconnecting with her family and navigating the challenges of finding work with a criminal record.
