Justin! Your knife might take a minute longer. We had to talk nice to it, pass it around the office. Heck, the sendoff took two days. ;) Thanks for your note! We all chuckled about that. -Ben
What iiiissssssss up BEN,,,, Just ordered my lander and have already got scales printing..... looking to maybe open an etsy store since it doesnt seem to have a lot of traction at this point.... going to be using premium filaments in all kinds of colors...... thank you again for making this an open source project.... cant wait to see how the scales look on the lander when it gets here
Do it! Do it! I've seen a lot more people doing micarta and premium materials than I have printed versions. I definitely think there's a hole in the market there. -Ben
Loving my Lander so far. I’ve been carrying it at work and using is on cardboard, tape, etc. I also love the parts program for it. Ordered back up pocket clips and purple scales for mine already to match my baby banter!
I ordered an all black Lander and additional g10s in white. I’m foaming at the mouth in anticipation 🤣 🤤. Yes, I took the Storm Trooper route 😂😂😂. I’m also thinking Ti thumb studs possibly in white 🤔.
@@waveb330 dang it. We've seen a few stripped screws out there, and it mostly happens from a lack of downward pressure on the screw while breaking the loctite. Not saying that's what happened in your case, but it's a common thing we're seeing. Do you know how to disassemble the rest of the knife and drill out a stripped screw? Not a hard process, but that's going to be your best immediate option. -Ben
@@knafs_co Thanks for the reply Ben! Yes, I'm going to try that as a option along with some other ideas for taking out stripped screws WITHOUT damaging the scales. Great knife and will be looking forward to what knife idea you improve on next!!
I mean, technically, sort of. The problem is the blade tip. The handle scales keep that tip away from your fingers when it's closed. Without scales, the likelihood of accidentally snagging your finger on the blade goes waaay up. -Ben
Thanks Ben! Just got mine in the mail this weekend along with my tool burrito and love them! Excited to see what new scales come out for the Lander (space kitty scales??? Haha) Also, I know you don’t prefer big knives, but I would totally buy a “big Lander” version of this knife as well if you ever made one ;)
My lander arrived yesterday. But i struggle with it. It is hard to open. Everyone else can flip it easy in the videos but my lander is very tight. I think it is the detend ball. When close it, the liner lock stuck a bit too. Maybe some tips?
Because the scles are separate from the frame, does that mean you could just use the knive without the scalss on? Just like a thin frame knife i guess.
Well, yes. Sort of. But not recommended. One of the tricky parts about designing a knife is making sure the user won't cut themselves when the knife is closed. So, you give handle clearance where the tip is, and across the spine of the handle to make sure the edge doesn't bite you accidentally. When the scales are detached, you lose that safety clearance on the tip, and I'm going to say you're pretty much guaranteed to cut yourself on the tip eventually. -Ben
@@knafs_co oooh i understand, thank you for answering my question. Your feedback shows that you truly care about your community. I can not wait to pick up a lander. Wish the lock side thumbstud had a little room to get my middle finger flick going, that or maybe have a more proud thumbstud it sits flush with the scale and it's difficult to get traction for the reverse flick.
It's funny you say that. I met a guy at Blade Show West last week that had printed a set of scales with an extra cutout on the lock side to better access for reverse flicking. We need a FB group or subreddit where people can share this stuff. Want to head that up? 😁 -Ben
That's a very good looking knife but the fact that the pivot hole is so close to the edge of the blade does not inspires confidence to me, particularly with the space created to hold the bearings, which removes even more thickness of the blade.
Hi Ben! Such a helpful video, you’re a gifted teacher! Q: Do you have someone making custom Lander scales? Or maybe you can point us to a collective for people making custom Lander scales? I’m not interested in a 3D printer but would like to buy from someone who’s a maker. Finally, I have a loaded burrito and a small poster under the tree and I’m like a kid anticipating Christmas morning! What Iiiiiiiisssss Up Santa!?!!!!!!?
Bought it because I'm a fan and love that you have parts for everything. Now I'm even more stoked because of how user friendly you designed this.
Shucks. Thanks Zachary. That means a lot to me. -Ben
I love that I now know how to disassemble and reassemble my knife before it even gets here. Thanks Ben!

Love the Lander, it’s my new EDC! Great job Ben!
Hey Alan! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. Thanks for the support! -Ben
Got mine last week, already thinking up how to make micarta scales for it.
I like the flats just like the civivi baby banter pivot!

@@DannySimsABI theres some companies that will 3d print a test piece for free if you give them basic parameters for the model
So will skiff bearings really ruin the knife? Lol 😆
Ha! I had a guy mod some skiff bearings for the Banter the other day. Super cool process, but they definitely don't fit off the shelf. -Ben
