Really appreciate this review. I have a Lander with BarnesCraft micarta scales. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos. I’m no longer afraid to tinker. 😂
Before watching- i have had to send 2 of these back because of the screws. They would strip instantly and not come loose in the slightest, no matter what I did. In the end, Ben sent me a Lander with the screws already loose. Customer service was absolutely amazing but I just wish they'd fix this. I've heard a lot of other people struggling with this as well
I'm pretty surprised to see that you've had major qc issues. For what little it counts, I have 2 landers and I've handled one that I got for my brother, and the action on all of them has been excellent.
The Lander is a fun knife. Not more, not less. Fun to fidget with (at least mine which is definitely smooth), fun to swap the scales (love the „lunar surface“). But it’s not a high-end knife! We must not expect it be fit for heavy duty. And the steel will not stay spotless, not even the blackened version that I have. I even think I have spotted some little ripples in the black coating. And yes, centering will not stay perfect. But it IS fun!
I'm so bummed for you that yours has such major QC flaws! Mine has amazing action that outclasses anything in my collection (which to be fair only runs up to $200). I know we already talked about this in another youtube comments thread but I was just sure this one was going to be an instant hit for you, but QC like that is hard to ignore (and shouldn't be)
I have a quick newbie question for you Nick- my action was great but the pivot kept coming loose, so I put the blue loctite on the pivot screw and now it's very slow. Does it just need to be lubed and broken in?
Not Nick, but there are two possibilities, you used too much blue loctite and it's gummed it up, or secondly, you over tightened the pivot. Either of those, or both together, would do it. It's on bearings, not washers, so it should run fine out of the box.
Gotta ask: why so often do you leave the cam focused in tight so it’s virtually impossible for the viewer to see the entire procedure? Happens far more often now than in the past.😢
Bad QC on that knife. Definite fail. Off-center, rusted, defective machining. The Ganzo 727S is a better value for $18.99. Excellent 440C and it doesn't RUST.
The best way to improve quality control would have been to have them made by Civivi.

I was skipping around some but did I miss where you oiled the bearings?
Was checking the comments to verify this very point. This man is an imposter. What has he done with Nick!

Sorry about the QC hopefully you'll get another one and it won't have as bad QC
I have 3 qsp knives. All came with tight pivots. One was tight like that knife
I’m having the same issue mind sounds like there’s something inside it. It’s very rough action.

@@kerryrwac yeah I used to much glue, I'll try and get some off. Thanks.

Slipjoint UK versions needed. Please !! 🤣
Um....It's hard to come down TOO hard on QC issues when the maintenance guy forgot to lube the pivot and bearings. 😄
