Florian Schneider April 7, 1947 - May 6, 2020. He will be missed. :-(
absolutely
Yes..my dad bought the Man Machine new in 78.i was 2 and hooked.i didn't know about these first 2 records..only saw Ralph and Florian and another with tanzmusik
He died on April 21st but that wasn't announced for 15 days.
I bought my grandma (born and raised in Aschaffenburg, Germany) Kraftwerk's first three albums for Christmas a few years ago.
It was the first time she ever heard Kraftwerk's music, and she listened to all three albums front to back, laughed and said "Wow, this is really psychedelic!!"
Sadly, she left this earth on February 26th at 74 years old, but I just know her and Florian are up there having a good laugh about his music...
Rest well Oma, I'm jamming this for you. 🤟❤
AWWW How touching :,) I hope what you said is happening... / AWWW Que conmovedor :,) espero que esté pasando lo que dijiste...
Sorry for your lost But i hope you have good time with her 🙂🧡
Cool Omi.😎
Sorry for your loss I hope her and Florian are having good conversations about his music
I wish I could say that I had a grandparent who appreciated Kraftwerk, both generationally and culturally. I'm a 1st-gen American from a Dominican family, and I'm probably around your parents' age. I came to know Kraftwerk (like most people) around the TEE era, but have come to enjoy exploring their Krautrock roots thru Radio-Activity. Music is a wonderful teacher.

Nothing lives in a vacuüm.
It's so sad to see that Hutter doesn't want to release some official re-edition of this masterpiece.
Kraftwerk 1 and Kraftwerk 2 are majestic materials, and it's a pioneer of the experimental music. He must be proud of it.
Sitting in the garden in the sun listening to this with headphones on. This works for me.
Fo real
I have all the four parts from Klingklang as my alarm. The first part is used for Tuesdays, second part for Wednesdays, third part for Thursdays and fourth part for Fridays. The song I use for Mondays is Tanzmusik from Kraftwerk's third album Ralf und Florian. I really gotta say these songs are perfect to listen to when waking up!
I had The Robots first few bars as my Ringtone on my last phone. I was therfore thankful every time someone phoned me. As a phone phobic it was great strategy!
I guess Im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account??
I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Mason Arturo Instablaster :)
@Briggs Tristan I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Briggs Tristan It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out !
das waren noch menschen mit visonen und träumen music kann so viel transportieren danke !!! KRAFTWERK !!!
I love this earlier stuff. I find if relaxing and trippy at the same time.
FLORIAN SCHNEIDER.........r.i. p.........
The fact that as a big Neu! and Kraftwerk fan, and at this stage in life, I'm just now coming across Kraftwerk 1 and 2 gives me hope for the future.
thats good, we need all hope for the future..;)
Have you heard Live On Radio Bremen from 1971 when Rother and Dinger were briefly members of Kraftwerk? ua-cam.com/video/lTP-Clo62Dg/v-deo.html
yes . it´s relaxed ! ...
3 best albums.... absolutely no questions. ....

Fell asleep to this while traveling on a bus. Lovely music!
Not only do you use the songs to fall asleep, you also use them to wake up? Hmmm...
These albums always feel like a reminder to keep moving forward, for me. Very constructive, and optimistic. Capturing so many different pictures of emotion, often with a tranquil but steady sense of progression. Florian may not have been openly proud of this early work but there are so many wonderful layers to dissect and learn from in it. I could listen to it on a sunny day, or a rainy one
klingklang is just insainly brilliant
Really loving this early Kraftwerk music !!
Thank you, Florian Schneider for everything you made for music! Rest In Peace, master!
I like the first three albums
They are more creative than then rest…
This album is ideal for listening with headphones at night. those WellenLange string strums are therapeutic, every time I hear it it takes me to a plane of deep meditation. and the ending of Harmonika is touching. Ralf and Florian I love you 🙏
Atem is chilling. Play it at night in the dark... alone.
" Strom" has ( after the brief distorted intro) a similar feeling with " silver forest", from the Tone Float album.
so fantastic, Love Kraftwerk 1 und 2 and Autobahn!! the earlier stuff !! chilling and floating....
have you listened to Ralf und Florian? it's the direct precursor to autobahn which is pretty much when kraftwerk finally found what it would like to become from the lessons of these first two albums.
Harmonica is really creative it's basically just really really really slowed down harmonica melodies making a very beautiful drone track
I love Kraftwerk, being able to make this at the time they did, going against the tide, is remarkable
I don't know that this was "against the tide", this kind of music was actually pretty prevalent back then in the UK and parts of mainland Europe. I'm sure you've heard of groups like Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, King Crimson...this is kind of coming from the same place.
@@arkanoiddude
Maybe those bands too were going 'against the tide' in their beginnings, considering the tide as being main stream popmusic? Because main stream pop music was more like schlager, rock ('n roll), blues, songs, etc.
Kraftwerk wanted to break with both the traditional German music and the imported Anglo-American music of pop, rock, blues and string-instruments (instruments which they considered being rooted in 'medieval times'), and use new, electronic technology. That ofcourse doesn't mean they were the only ones experimenting, trying to find new ways.
MASTERpiece. Florians flute play is impressive...
Strom is a success, it's so eerie it makes me feel uncomfortable but I keep listening
Homenagem ao grande líder, Florian Schneider, Rest in peace
Kraftwerk 4-ever !
Beautiful at times, and you can hear the progress, so to speak, following the first Kraftwerk album
One of the GREATEST musical groups EVER
Intelligently done ;vastly innovative; tremendously creative and superbly inspirational!!!! I wish I had looked into them sooner then what I did about 6 or 7 years ago but better late than never.
😉👍
Ein Ohrenschmaus...sehr meditativ...
Florian, back in the kling klang universe
Kling Klang: A digital recreation of the first section has been used as the pre-show sounds of the bands gigs for many years now, but few realise it.
1:49 second section 10:58 third section 14:19 fourth section
My personal highlight apart from the above track is the second segment of Strom (after the distorted guitar). Beautiful.
Amazing work...thank you.
Klingklang brothers! Musik Non Stop
'Strom' is so underrated.
Agreed, Allmusic sums up the album perfectly by saying it has a twilight feel. Strom is so creepy but in a very deep way, not a Halloween way
Thank you for posting this!
👌 thanks for the upload
The hills are alive with the sound of KRAFTWERK!
I can still break dance and pop lock.( in my day dreams) It was fun still....
A fantastic and unique listening experience, thanks for the upload! :)
Many thanks, Harmonika is my favourite! All good!
...thanks for all Florian
I''ve had the double album fold out cover version for years! Thanks for posting!
the one on vertigo? yeah thats the shit
Excellent 2nd album 😊 !
We already miss you Florian Schneider....rest in peace in the electronic heaven
Anyone else think Wellenlange has kind of a Hallogallo vibe to it? And yes, I'm aware that Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother were both members of Kraftwerk before they formed Neu.
there are lots of proto-autobahn sounds in neu's albums, the same for neu in this two first albums. The compass in Wellenlange is being set by the same pattern in seeland.
both band created beautiful things, but kraftwerk managed to brew all its potential
imho boards of Canada was the only group that exploited this terrain much further in terms of land/mindscapes and I strongly recommend watching Star Trek acid party to anyone who finds joy in this exquisite piece of man machine music. cosmic and spiritual . if I missed out on artists that ring that bell I would be delighted and grateful to find suggestions, even it is you , yes, as a concerned listener, at your service, over and out!
Star Trek Acid Party is one of the funniest things out there!
Absolutne arcydzieło!
At the age of 14 I looked around the world for the first time and I can imagine that some others were lying on flying carpets under the influence of the good LSD at the time, were able to spread their wings carefree and float away into the airspace of nirvana.. .. :-)
What many people don`t know: KRAFTWERK was seperated at that time. `cause RALF left the band from 12/1970-09/1971 and KRAFTWERK existd twice...there was FLORIAN`s Kraftwerk and RALF`s Kraftwerk (with other fellow musicians).
Fortunately, both of them had the experience that only both together can be KRAFTWERK and so finally RALF came back.
Without the other, it didn't and wouldn't have worked.
(source: Karl Bartos / the sound of the machine)
No albums were recorded during the period that Ralf was away so what's your point? Florian was the only constant member from the beginning until his departure in 2008, so it's not as if Kraftwerk ever really existed without him. There was no "RALF`s Kraftwerk (with other fellow musicians)" at any time.
@@truefunksoul8638
This statement with "Ralf`s and Florian`s Kraftwerk" is not a claim of mine, but can be read in the biography of Karl Bartos "The sound of the Machine".
The point is, that Kraftwerk was almost over before it really started.
Bartos biography is a very interesting book, because it gives a lot of behind-the-scenes insights into how the boys worked and why their music in all its facets became what it became.
And I see you haven't read it, otherwise you would have known about "Florian`s and Ralf`s Kraftwerk" ;-)
There was no "RALF`s Kraftwerk (with other fellow musicians)" at any time. You can misread or misunderstand whatever biography you like, then regurgitate it here to your heart's content with the incredibly lame 'now I know something' attitude exemplified by your execrable opening line "What many people don`t know" demonstrating your newfound 'knowledge' but I'm not buying it, so you can spare me the snide bullshit remark "I see you haven't read it" because I don't share your opinion. Arrogant conceited tool much?
@@truefunksoul8638
For many years I´ve been reading biographies and readings to understand a artist behind his music and his music too.
I´m not just a fanboy, I`m a musician myself and to understand an artist and his music helped me a lot during my musical education that began in mid 80`s and it´s just nice still learn today.
I don`t care what you think what`s right or wrong especially if you seem to think that YOUR word outweighs that of a Kraftwerk`s band member (Kartl Bartos). Where is the arrogance?
"Florian/Ralf`s Kraftwerk" was never an official project of the two, of course, (and it was just "so called" by Karl Bartos, but it was a necessary way to ultimately get back together and do what made their music unique.
Ralph did not actually quit the band. More like he took a brief leave.. It was more of a refocus of his time to complete his school exams. Florian performed with Rother and Dinger to fulfill a few gigs and an appearance on German TV.
Ich kenne Kraftwerk seit deren Anfang. NDR2 spielte in "Musik für junge Leute nach der Schule" einmal "Ruckzuck" 1970 oder 1971 und seitdem ist sowas "meine" Musik.
I know Kraftwerk from the beginning. German radio NDR2 played in "Music for young people after school" one times "Ruckzuck" in 1970 or 1971 and since that time it is "my" music.
50 years!!
the 4 Albums before "Autobahn" are still my favs..
What's the fourth? I get there's Kraftwerk 1, Kraftwerk 2 and Ralf Und Florian but was there something else before Autobahn?
@@Gyrbae Tone Float by Organisation, I'd assume. That group would eventually rebrand itself as Kraftwerk
Tone Float is great.
David bowie agrees with you, according to a BBC interview from late 70s-early 80's
Tone Float is so underrated
first time listening this album! thank you very much! enjoyed! unique!...second listening: impression that these guys were experimenting with sound!, once again, enjoyed!
Klingklang is a precursor for Autobahn.
I'm sure I heard Strom and Spule 4 being used a few times in those intrigue/thriller movies from the 90's.
20 years ago, when I was 14, I'd have this on in my room with the window open while drawing late at night, with the spring breeze wafting through.
I like this album. They show such a range of what they can do.
Very nice album.
Hermoso
for me KW 1 und 2 is all about nature and silence.
Os dois primeiros do Kraftwerk são Krautrock da melhor qualidade. Gosto muito.
Much prefer this to Kraftwerks later releases... Reminds me of stuff by Faust....
Evidently, post-rock was already being made in the early 70s.
Well back then it was called "art-rock" and now it's generally known as "progressive rock"
You are historically correct.
You mean....Industrial Music 🎶
Think of where Dusseldorf /Krefeld and Duisburg are !
Very Industrial multi cultural fast moving...whereas Krefeld and Duisburg are slower/more relaxed and homely...hence why the music is a reflection of social environs 😆
@@howardamess452 You seem to hit the nail on the head.
@@AK99581 you mean..krautrock and industrial music 🎶
Obscure and oneiric album. I like it!
not a lot of discogs info on this one! It makes me think of Neu!, not like the kraftwerk catalogue I know.
still vlc but with colours changed haha, 1972 wow
oh my god guys... MUSIC!

Karl and Wolfgang really brought dessert to the table.
anyone hear autobahn on klingklang.
A smidgen...but if it's here...throbbing gristle would have to perform it!
a little, its not as clear as the links with earlier works (thanks to the flute)
Yeah seems similar
Klingklang sounds like it got its inspiration from Pink Floyd-Time.
Yes
I was 14 at the time at 1972...
Kraftwerk, eh? An uber German entity, that managed to influence everyone and everything electronic, including black men from da hood in NYC. That is just so bizarre.
Anyway, I like to think of Kraftwerk as giving us all a glimpse of what the emotional set of Germans feels like. It is at once harsh and mechanistic, but has a beauty none the less. And it almost worships technology. (eg Autobahn)
I love how Kraftwerk so overtly toyed with the juxtaposition of beautiful things expressed in nominally harsh ways. eg Neon Lights. It's singing about beautiful ideas, but using the something so cold as neon lights. Harsh, used for chintzy advertising and brothels. Or "computer love" - the irony in the name speaks for itself, and there was no Tinder or Grindr at the time!. Or the sounds of birds in the forest, mimicked with synthesizers. Or music made with sounds so harsh, they are essentially the sounds of static. It was so well... krafted... but expressing emotions only, and making no political or judgemental positions. They were like Fritz Lang giving you a warm hug.
it's a nice album, especially Kling Klang...it seems that side A of the album took much more studio-time and was more expensive than side B...for me the 2nd side of the album lacks the depth and the creative ideas that are present on the longest track 'Kling Klang'
It's more like the b side of Neu! 2 - lack of funds turned into innovation, although this is more of background tone works while neu 2 was more car trips with a detour at an slaughterhouse.
I find it interesting how they approach music made more for art films rather than their later techno pop material (no pun intended)
19:40 Darth Vader in a bad mood
The guitar in Wellenlange sounds like the one in Personal Jesús.
i got this lp at 13 yo...
I'm preparing to make a copy(perhaps, cover?) of this music
I love that roaring bass sound from 28:41 onwards, anynone knows exactly how the hell they managed to make those sounds or what they're like without any processing from the track? thanks.
I think what you're hearing there is just simply a "layer" effect! Most of this album is just tape manipulation, and they probably just took that piece and put it over itself again and again till it came off with that etheral sound.
Do you have this as a FLAC? I'd like to download this rip as it's the highest quality version I've been able to find.
I do indeed! Give me a couple of days and I'll amend the description with a download.
Rare Music Archive Still no FLAC?
Hey my man, you still looking for flac? I got some good quality audio download.
Hey m8, check the tanasatos channel, there are some really good remasters of Kraftwerk's early stuff with download on HQ mp3 and FLAC
The Germans are a unique and creative people. It's a shame what happened after 1945 to this fine folk.

Doesn't the first song have a bit the same intro than Pink Floyd's Time's, but like three years before The Dark Side was released and ultra-extended af ? jk, that's concrete music, ikr. Also the bass line right after that sure is the same than Autobahn's.
I was thinking the same thing about Pink Floyd's TIme!
It's not identical, but I always thought the guys in PF must have listened to both Kraftwerk, and early Tangerine Dream and pulled some inspiration from there.
It's the other way around, Pink Floyd influenced Kraftwerk.
I really like krautrock you never know what your going to get
This is also true of musique concrete the later stuff like nurse with wound not the super early stuff.
Although does anyone else include some of nurse with wounds stuff krautrock cause I do
