LYRICS:
Don’t Say A Word Gavin Dunne 2015
Fire on the ocean
Reprisal in motion
From the quiet awake
The sins of the father
Are hitting me harder
Every strike I take
The silence is deafening...
Don’t say a word
The venom inside us
Strives to deny us
Just a moment’s peace
From ocean to land we
Are learning to stand on
Our own two feet
Not to be heard
Don’t say a word
Restrain...
Cut out the phrase
Only a haze
Remains...
The silence is deafening...
Don’t say a word
These syllables slither
Like snakes in the sand...
These words they will wither
The world in your hands
You are the voice in the song yeah
It's yours when you sing along...
The silence is deafening...
Don’t say a word
You are the voice in the song, yeah
It’s yours when you sing along...
"You are the voice in the song/ It's yours when you sing along"
I see what you did there.
+Edward Hardwick ;)
+miracleofsound More songs please :( we almost forgot ur voice!
+alex mamas patience is key to any great musician
+Edward Hardwick I feel dumb but I don't get it, care to explain?
Obsidiax
It's pretty damn spoilerly to explain.
"You are the Voice in this song.
It's yours, when you sing along."
A hidden little wink to the games' ending, dare I guess?
Eleanors Fate YOU TOO HAVE KNOWN MoS!
@@kabob0077 AND THAT MoS EXCITES YOU STILL
:D
"That was amazing, they're going to tell stories about this one Boss!"
Rank: S
Codename: Songbird (Achieve great victory through the power of music)
Kept you waiting, huh?
+miracleofsound I'm No Hero, Never was , Never will be.
+miracleofsound You're pretty good.
+miracleofsound Yes you did, Gav, but every time, you've made it worth the wait.
+miracleofsound worth the wait, boss.
+miracleofsound What took you so long?
"A Hideo Kojima Song"
Written, produced, mixed and mastered by Hideo Kojima (Kojima Of Sound)
Lyrics written by Hideo Kojima
Vocals arranged and performed by Hideo Kojima
Music by Hideo Kojima
Станислав Яковлев KOJIMA WORLD ORDER IS NOW ACTIVE
P.S. This song is just like MGS series - it's pretty good.
Kojima will soon plaster his name on the moon itself
That would only make me salute at the moon ceremoniously every night.
Muffin Tops I'd plaster his name on the moon myself if I could.
Hideo Kojima by Hideo Kojima!!!!!!!
"The venom inside us, strives to deny us, just a moments peace". That line is so clever. It could refer to the parasites, but also to our dear little snake slithering around being a major annoyance to all. Best line in the song.
Or just his life being very stressful/events heavy?
His writing is so good in general. His lyrics always feel meaningful.
Such a lust for music . . .
*WHOOOOOOOOOOO?!*
THEY PLAYED US LIKE A DAMN VIDEO
Sporkazoid It's like one of my Japanese anime!
EdgePlays Every night... I can.. hear my leg?
I wanted to say that!
A song to surpass original OSTs!
Brings me back to pre-MGSV release where epic songs and epic trailers were all we knew of the game.
Adam Wagner it was good and fu :)
This deserves to be the credits song of the game!!
Absolutly!
+Abdelhakim Nouri (Neozander) I really want to see a big video game pick up one of Gav's songs for their official soundtrack. Almost as much as I want to see some indie-game songs.
+Timothy McLean well mass effect atleast quoted one of his songs
+Timothy McLean Maybe I am mistaken, but I think Wasteland 2 added his song to credits.
+michał Bach Yeah they did, and its great
This is beautiful. I'm honestly not sure if you've ever carried such weight and emotion on each word before. Very impressive.
+Timothy Martin Thank you very much :) I should sing like this more often!
miracleofsound The style really fits you. A metal song with this type of lyrical expression would definitely be right up your alley.
+miracleofsound Please do sing like this more often. Keep up the good work. You're one of my favourite artists.
+Timothy Martin It's only getting better and better!
+miracleofsound I personally think that you sing great no matter the style. The variety in your songs is what I love most ♥
Pretty fucking amazing song man.
+Falconshield The Band You should collab some day, Im sure it would be awesome.
Holy Shit Fallconshield and Gavin together could probably make the best music on UA-cam together.
Until then its Gavins privilege to make the best music.
Well at least Konami got a nice song to end their triple A existence.
#FucKonami
+Merlinose PULL THE LEVER!!!!
#FuckKonami #JimFuckingSterlingSon
+ghostfear2011 WRONG LEVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeererr...
FUCKONAMI
Wow, you totally deserve an S-rank for this song.
I was just listening to "True Survivor" before I saw that you're new song was online and this was just the right thing to hear after that. Love how you implemented this 80's sound.
It's safe to say, that this is my favourite song, you made. Pure epicness. :D
True Survivor is my jam. I love listening to it alongside Hard Cash while I'm on a drive.
+DeeJay LOL Auch fan von ihm
I liked Lady of worlds better.
+Scarce Hyperion To each their own. Mine is Going Nuclear
My favorites are Normandy and All as one :3c
Thi is by far one of my favorite songs. Not only is it a good song in its own right, it also perfectly captures the atmosphere of both The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes. So...Honestly, incredibly job. This song's a work of art.
Also, Metal Gear remains one of my absolute favorite game franchises. It's a very well put together series of games, and although the timeline's annoying to explain to newcomers, the story more than makes up for it.
From here on out, you're Big Boss.
Watching the video, I'm always struck by the perfect framing of that shot of Quiet about to speak and then stopping with the lyrics "Don't say a word." Gav's pretty good at videos too, 'swhat I mean.
Modders. I want a cassete tape with this on. Right here. Right now.
1) Buy the song
2) Download the Song
3) Put it in the "Custom Music" or something like that folder, where "Sands" lie.
4) ???
5) PROFIT aka you can now play it in game
I want it too!
I can't believe its been that long since the song came out
You're probably wondering how long ago this masterpiece came out
I'm afraid its been 9 years
Wow! First Angry Joe this morning and now this? Awesome!
I had the same morning as you.. :)
same
+Mondes Haha same !
Isn't this the morning?
Angry Joe? :0
*Checks inbox* xD great. An in depth review & a great song.
Here 5 years after, this song brings so much joy and memories back to me.
Wow Gav, this is probably your best song yet.
+Not for Human eyes Thank you :) I really like this one, worked really hard on it to make it sound huge.
+miracleofsound *Tries to make the song huge.
Roll d20 > 20! + Music messiah bonus (+15) = 35
*Critical success! It is epic!*
+Not for Human eyes no, his best song is "The New Black Gold". But it's also good
+Not for Human eyes +miracleofsound From what I've seen, allmost every new song Gav puts out becomes his new best song in somebody's eyes. Most times, it's hard for me to argue with that, cause Gav keeps getting better and better with every song, whatever it might be.
+Not for Human eyes every song is perfect cause he is perfect :D ;) :)
I love how music (and this song of Gav's, in particular, is really good at this) elicits feelings and associations with irl stuff. I lost a cousin recently and a lot of the lyrics and tones fit how I feel. There's pain, loss, and hope all wrapped up in one beautiful song. Amazing job yet again Gav!
This song made me play this game. 🤭 I had never played a Metal gear game before, but I got so obsessed with this one that I platinumed it in no time. 😅 Thank you for writing this awesome song and for introducing me to this game! ☺️✨
I like to think that Venom Snake is not just your character, but also he's his own man, like we all who played phantom pain are our own man. For me, trough V, i could become someone who's not Big Boss, but someone who could do the best in his name...and for this, even tho some people say this was the worst in the series, somehow i've got attached to Venom Snake and the fact that he's not who he thought he was but after that, still carried out his mission, and this thing thought me that maybe you're not who you think you are, but still you can be whoever you want you to be cuz in the end, you write your own history, no one else.
Don´t say a word...
...
Then I better write a bloody paragraph! ;D
When Gav said he was making a MGS:TPP song, I didnt know what to expect. Then this comes out and my ears just imploded into the usual miasma of sound and enjoyment. The melody and the chorus are already stuck in my head and I can´t stop mumbling them! Another "miracle of sound" created by the hands of an extremely talented and hardworking Irish man!
Keep on rocking Gav! Level 6 is looking like it´s going to blow both my wallet and my mind! ;)
Despite how compromised of a product MGSV was, it was beautiful. You did a phenomenal job, Gav.
oh my god.. i never knew he did a MGS song, which is literally my favourite game franchise! thank god i discovered this! better late than never i guess
Why aren't you the most popular musician in the world?)
+The_RoD Because I breathe through my skin
+miracleofsound Could you justify breathe through my skin?
+miracleofsound doesn't that mean you have to wear a bikini all the time?
+miracleofsound So you're also running around topless ? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Because Most People don't know what's good mus :P
While I love 'Sins of the Father' and 'A Phantom Pain', I feel like this is a much more fitting song for the game, it really captures that 80's action movie style feel.
I guess...
Don't keep us waiting, Boss. We'll wait for you to wake up.
Huh, you're pretty good
+ReverentGhost Great reference.
+James Wales could you please explain? i dotn get it.
Spoiler Alert
Those are Ocelot's last words to Solid Snake and the first thing Big Boss said to Ocelot in MGS3.
James Wales ok.
+Nicolas Reali Eh, more like Big Boss said those words to Ocelot first time they met just before knocking him unconcious and Ocelot became obsessed with it.
It’s been almost 9 years since this song and metal gear gear solid 5 released, it’s crazy how well this song still slaps
This song is incredible. And so is the game.
Honestly thought this was an old 80s song the first time I heard it, outstanding quality.
You definitely captured that big 80's sound, gives me chills.
Damnit, video game companies should hire you for advertising, this song has made me want to get this more than anything else.
*Listens to song once*
*Buys song*
*Puts on google play to listen to on repeat*
*Checks after a day, been played 25 times*
It's tradition for me to listen to this song at least once every three minutes and thirty-two seconds.
This is freaking amazing..... and I've never even played MGS! I should probably fix that huh...
+Prorogon - Lord of the Jags
If you are seriously considering starting to play MGS this is the order in which you should start playing:
1) MGS 3. (PS2 or HD collection)
2) Peace Walker. (PSP or HD Collection)
3) Metal Gear (1987) (avaliable on the "Subsistence" version of MGS 3)
4) Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990) (avaliable on the "Subsistence" version of MGS 3)
5) Metal Gear Solid (PlayStation 1 oooooor "The Twin Snakes" version for GameCube)
6) Metal Gear Solid 2 (preferably "Substance", PS2 and Windows PC, although I recommend PS2)
7) Metal Gear Solid 4 (PlayStation 3)
Most of these games are playable using PC emulators such as PCSX2 (MGS3, 2, MG and MG2: SS), PPSSPP (For Peace walker), Dolphin (The Twin Snakes), but MGS4 is only playable on the PS3, although you may as well just watch the whole thing played by somebody on UA-cam considering that the game is basically 70 percent cutscenes.
Have fun.
I envy you - I would love to clean my memory in order to reexperience the story of MGS. It is one of the kind.
Yeah I own the HD collection, MGS4 and Ground Zeroes but I never got round to playing them. Since I was born in 1999 I didn't really get to experience these classic games and enjoy them with people so I've been playing the living sh*t out of games like Chrono Trigger and Teranigma. I love retro games, but apparently that makes me weird (according to other people my age) because I'm 16 :/ oh well, sucks to be them. I'll get around to MGS soon, I just need to finish up a couple of other games first :)
Prorogon - Lord of the Jags Do play those, you'll enjoy them. Although there is a problem - MGS is considered a very unique series in terms of story structuring... In other words - after playing it and liking if you'll try to find any other gaming series that resembles MGS you'll be very disappointed because there is nothing like it out there. It has a very perfectionist mindset too, so it might so happen that you won't be happy with the quality of some other games out there after playing MGS.
Don't worry about that bro I know that feeling to well. I watch a lot of anime and so I've seen many unique shows such as Steins;Gate and Your Lie in April and I've never found anything to fill those gaps. In my opinion that feeling (known as the void) is when you know, you've just experienced something incredible that you will never experience again and that it's very special. If it really does give me that feeling it will definitely be worth my time :)
Prorogon - Lord of the Jags It will, I have no doubts :) Enjoy ;)
"Like snakes in the sand" I see what you did here! ;)
Btw., This is how "oooowhhh ooo ooohhhhowwwoo ooooooo" supposed to be done.
whenever i think of mgs5 , this is the perfect image that comes to mind every time
Fell in love with the song within the first 5 seconds. Purely amazing. Thank you, yet again, for another splendid track to rock out to during hard days.
You absolutely nailed the song, encapsulating everything about MGSV perfectly. The 80s style feel along with the perfect vocals that tune to the generally harmonious mix in the beginning, signaling the heroic rise from ashes from the start of the game to the dissidence and fallout from Skullface and vengeance to the near ending sounds from the games epic orchestral ending.
Mission Complete and how!?
They're gonna be telling stories about this one Boss!
Kojima should listen to this...
+Nessie Neck The dream of all fans.
A video reaction of Kojima listening to this.
+Contevent Millions of views within a couple hours for sure.
+Order & Chaos And a reaction video to the reaction video of Kojima's reaction to the song.
a link plz
I'm addicted to this song.
I think its my favorite ever.
Such a lust for good sound.... WHOOOOOOO ?
The best 80's song not made in the 80's.
"The Sins of the Father, are hitting me harder, every strike I take" You sound here a bit like Kiefer Sutherland
Great work! Masterpiece!
Julio 2020?
Metal Gear forever.
Thanks Master kojima-san
I finished it for the first time yesterday
I don't have the words or the skill to tell you just how much I love this song... All I can say, goosebumps from start till finish! I didn't find your channel until I heard your song for the new doom game, which just blew me away. Since then I've heard every single song you've made, and you sir. You do not disappoint. I wish you the best of luck, and hope to hear song from you the next decades to come!
The chorus sure sounds like Paradise Lost, it's awesome how Gav is able to touch on so many different and awesome styles.
the 80s atmosphere is hitting harder than the sins of the father... you're pretty good!
Could imagine this playing on one of my Dads mixtapes from the eighties on a long car trip. Honestly, one of the best songs you've ever, ever put together.
I'm a new subscriber to this channel and I must say this song alone its worth the price of admission. Keep up the awesome work Mr. Gavin :)
+Mathias Irrazabal Nonononononono. A Zweihander? Really? This is not how you kill people.
*Pulls out a huge-ass railgun*
THIS is how you kill people.
+Mathias Irrazabal I'm also a fan of the zweihander :)
Yamir J. Santiago Garcia really bad in DkS1 but fun to use :) pretty easy to use in DkS2 though...
Serpens Viktorijewicz von Arma I declare NOPE *uses black crystal* SEE YA
+Yamir J. Santiago Garcia Welcome ;)
The grit in the vocals keep bringing me back.
I never played a MGS game in my life and this song makes me really want to. Great song Gavin!
+afterburner7847 Go and play it. You'll have A LOT of fun even if you didn't play the other mgs games.
+afterburner7847 Wow....get the fuck out of here and start playing the Metal Gear series. You can thanks me later.
+Zoltán Bublos I don't hate the series if that's what you think, but I will definitely play it. Thanks, you guys.
afterburner7847 No, you misunderstood. I just trying to convey you that Metal Gear is a masterpiece in Video Game history. :)
+Zoltán Bublos Lol, okay sorry. I'll definitely try it out! :)
I've never really played Metal Gear, but, I REALLY LOVE THIS SONG! It's really awesome, I absolutely adore the 80's feel ♥
This is fucking beautiful
I listen to this song every time i feel nostalgia. Its just awesome
This is good, isn't it ?
+Saint Kuro Dude, I think you dropped your cigar.
+Saint Kuro man it's so damn awesome that you cant tell if it's good or not.
ITs pretty good..
No,It's a perfect example of perfectly excellent excellency,or should I say(Stan Lee referrence incoming)... EXCELSIOR !(I completely forgot how to spell that correctly since the last time I play lego marvel superheroes)
+DarkSeeker 45 😢
The leitmotif from the game's soundtrack during the chorus and bridge was a nice touch.
After watching this song I got even more hyped for future ones, great job. :D Now its on special playlist with other of you're pieces of art like "The new black gold"/"I am the night"/"Halfman's song"/"Rise"/"All as one" and more.
Thanks for making awesome music videos for us.
God, this one is really something Gav, your voice in this song has such an emotional charge, the music is spot on, every time you start singing it just hits me and i found that i can't even express what it does in english, i simply don't know the words.
I never played MGS before, just knew that it was good but i was never able to play it, this song made me go around and read all about the lore in days, i HAD to know what the characters where going through because you transmitted their emotions with this piece.
I think that is your best one by far, i find it special, it was like seeing a story not from a screen but from a foggy window, it felt real and distant at the same time.
Great song. Not a fan of Metal Gear, but this makes me want to play it anyway.
+Zer0Hour17 Dude check this series out! It's fucking amazing.
+Zer0Hour17 Ladies, Gentlemen and Tumblrs of various pronouns, I present: The Gavin Dunne effect.
+Zer0Hour17 Same here,m8^^
But i'm afraid of the order to play the games to get the whole fucking(good,as i heard) story in the right timeline. I'm afraid,if i couldn't get every game,i won't get the whole epicness of the story :/
It would be nice,if they could do a remake of the old games or just bring a box with the games for pc^^
Moh VanKnorre Mgsv has cassette tapes that explain the story. You won't get EVERYTHING that's going on but it you'll undarstand most of the story. You can also watch the other games on yt. Focus on mgs peace walker and mgs3.
Radar 01
Really good to know, that thing with the cassette tapes^^ Maybe the next time i buy a game,it could be a MGS.
8 years ago! This song still feels it came out today! ♥
This song is an anthem
I honestly can't stop listening to this song. Not even kidding, it's so good.
I can't get this song out of my head
Epic 80s+Miracle of Sound=win.
I am very happy tonight.
Just finished the game, who is watching this masterpiece in 2019 ?
2020 now
From the first lines I knew this was my new favorite song by you. Most of your other stuff are the same when it comes to vocals, or at least similar, the gruff in your voice here is just so awesome! So much emotion and weight. You never cease to amaze me with you ability to handle any music genre, British rock, 50's big band, jazz, folk... all amazing!
LIKE A DAMN FIDDLE
Good evening sir, by any chance are you Hitler?
Sometimes I wonder if I lack humanity or emotion. It can be hard to tell if I lack a thing that nobody can clearly define.
Your music, this song particularly, always reminds me that I can feel some kind of deep emotion that I cannot explain.
Ten crying Quiets and one serious Eli from ten marks.
and atleast a kazuhira burger
I was so excited about your song for this game and my mind = blown. This is the best song you've ever made.
This was worth coming out of that cardboard box for.
I guess staying up till four is worth it to hear a new song before anyone else. Incredible as always
We are Diamond Dogs
So Faithful to the Game's Hidden Love story. and done in an accurate 80's vibe too.
Нихуя себе. Только спустя стольких лет откопать такое золото
If this isn't an 80's song and only inspired by the 80's, you fucking nailed it, my man. 10 out of 10!!
2024 I STILL LISTENING THIS SONG
I'm afraid it's been eight years
Holy shit.... Gavin.... Top shelf. It chokes me up every time and it sounds so good.
Best vocals in any of your songs, in my opinion.
+James F I think he's done better.
You obviously have not heard when winter comes or a half man's song.
SavageShades Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. To me, When Winter Comes and Half Man's Song felt like too much of a lullabye to me.
Amazing song and video cut. Perfectly fits for the game atmosphere.
Another excellent song. Keep them coming, dude.
the production to this track is everything!
miracleofsound, what took you so long ?
Blicz B or in the words of the arch chancellors hat "at last, what kept you?"
Heard talk about some... cyborg ninjas.
Blicz B your fucking everwere
E E ikr
amazing, just like always Gav. but for me, a huge MGS fan, this is a song that represents the MGS franchise as a whole. i mean, that chorus is just perfect.
Don't say a word huh ? ... in other words . BE QUIET !
(moar puns)
Quiet is over powered and if you giver a slinced rifle and get rid of enemy helmets then you could just say cover me and sit back and then loot the place
....i have no words other than "YES".
Haven't play the game, but I like this song
G0atboy you should play it
I might once I have the money. Haven't played any other Metal Gear Solid game ever though so will I still be able to know what is going on?
G0atboy you'll know a little bit, but if want the full story, you can watch the cutscenes of the games on youtube
Returning here after 8 years, what an amazing sensation... I'm getting old kkkk
Just one year left until he wakes up
The phantom pain.. of loosing your voice..... fuck i just realise that. For some it's a leg, an eye, an arm or their voice....
This song makes so much sense after finally playing through the whole game. Amazing !
хочу ещё песен посвящённых MGS и привет из России =)
The perfect morning ,i wake up and saw in my subscriptions Miracleofsound has uploaded a new song, its just perfect.
The songs great actually, just wish the actual game was completed before being shoved out the door. Chapter 2 has a few moments, but is a mess otherwise. The ending doesn't help this too much. My opinion of course, just can see from the transition from chapter 1 to 2 there was a major alteration to what the content was supposed to be.
Before being shoved out the door? It was supposed to release last year. Then they pushed it back to march of this year. Then to September. It wasn't rushed. They had been working on this game for almost 2 years buddy. The game is fantastic. Period.
+Psychotic Shakes You realize two years is a pretty short time to work on a game, more so for an open world game, and especially when you are trying to build an engine alongside it. Trying to build a new engine alone is probably a 3-5 year task, and trying to make an open world game is at least as long. Trying to develop a game in two years and meet the cutting edge of graphics is what got the standard singleplayer story to drop to 10 hours or less with no replay value for a while.
That said, I am pretty sure the development time for MGSV was closer to five years, which is still kind of rushing it, but no where near as much as trying to do it in two. My take on what happened is that somewhere along the lines, the scope of the game probably changed, and their estimates for how long it would take to make the game got thrown out of whack. Kojima probably wanted to see out his vision regardless of the time and money, while Konami didn't see it as worth the investment. Things eventually got to the point where Konami fired Kojima, and as a result, chapter 2 was hastily thrown together, and anything planned after that was cut. Although even if this is what happened, it is hard to say who is really at fault. The easy target is Konami for pushing out MGSV early, but it could just as easily be Kojima's for attempting a scope that just couldn't be financially viable. In reality it is probably a mix of both. The multiplayer elements were probably forced in by Konami, Kojima accepted them, but wasn't willing to compromise elsewhere; the nigh universal constant of game development that things never go quite as planned happened, and they hit snags; Konami was probably already thinking they wanted out of the nightmarish process AAA development has become, and were looking to rush this game out and be done; and I am willing to bet they had a constant focus on optimization throughout development, probably because games are getting complex enough that trying to optimize right at the end doesn't pan out as people expect anymore, and we get things like AC Unity, or Arkham Knight. Regardless, we know that whatever happened, the story towards the end of the game severely suffers for it.
+fwg1994 Although, to be fare, the game IS really well optimised, so their tech dept is... pretty good.
+ace0071000 It is, and the fact that it is when everyone else seems to be struggling with that probably means it came at the cost of something else. I mean, everything comes at a cost, and until developers get the hang of all the new tech that comes with a new console generation, it is pretty much a simple fact that they are not going to have enough time and resources to put out a game with an expected level of polish. It is going to suffer somewhere, whether it be optimization, gameplay, story, graphics, or length.
I think it would be unfair to blame the story issues on optimization, but I also think it most certainly is a contributing factor. Although it is probably better this game came out with a story that falls apart towards the end, rather than a buggy unoptimized mess. It is at least something I thoroughly enjoy playing.
fwg1994
Yup. And it's a shame Konami left AAA. That Fox engine has so much potential...
Maybe if they weren't leaving it, they would have finished the game. Seriously, the best way to handle the time constraints in that situation would be "We are giving you two chapters as of now, but expect an update with the rest later"
Man, I'm just repeating and repating, what a great work you've done Gav! Now it's one of my favourites from yours creations. I love your music, keep at it! :)
You're pretty good
