I just watched the entire interview again and have to say that the part where he talks about why he doesn't raise his comic price is a big reason I like him even more now.
Same, Have went back to this interview a few times, and much respect on keeping price over the years. I would not blink paying 3.99 for spawn monthly, and this just shows how great Todd is. I pretty much rage every time Marvel take out a 7.99, 8.99, 9.99 issue in the middle of a run I am collecting.. LOL! :D Greetings from Scotland :D
awesome interview such a passionate and humble creator. I always think of him as Spawn, and forget about all his other contributions at Marvel and DC. Really awesome how he just hits up random “undiscovered” artists for cover art.
Just a genuine artist and human. Love how he says he keeps the prices low because he can put food on the table. At a net worth of 300 million that’s pretty humble. Love this guy
I really enjoyed the interview and to me it was like getting to meet the man in person ( which i am sure will never happen ) loved listening to what he had to say and the excitement in his voice on comics and the opportunity he has for all intrested people
He's the kinda guy you want to go to breakfast with on a weekday at your favourite diner, just for the stories. The two of you together, that's more like, "LET'S GET BRUNCH!"
This interview was fantastic! Todd is always entertaining, but this one was extra special. The insights, the stories... I could have watched several more hours of this!
This is cool. For someone who knew nothing about Mr. McFarlane, I thank the two of you for this bit of history. (On a side note, a friend of mine who was a big McFarlane fan gave me his Marvel and independent comics collection, about 4,500 comics from the early 80's until 1993. So now as I sit to read through the McFarlane issues, I think that I will have more of appreciation of them. At the time, my friend collected Marvel while I was mainly into DC)
I remember as a kid my grandma bought me every single issue of Infinity Inc at a garage sale. I had no idea what it was; never heard of it. I saw it said drawn by Todd Mcfarlane. I looked at Infinity’s art and then back to my Todd Spider-Man. I was like, “Hmm...I guess there was another guy making comics with the same name.” Haha Two completely different Todd’s in the industry was true, but just one was later on in his artistic style. I couldn’t tell.
I will never understand why people don’t like Todd. Yes he’s eccentric in his own way and hates being told what to do, but look how much he stands for the community!
WOW...JUST WOW! This amazing! The entire video was fantastic, but the last minute and a half was about as inspirational as it gets. Todd McFarland is a true comic book legend and OG comic book GEEK! Tom, I want to thank you for everything you do. I stumbled upon your videos by accident and got fired up about comics again. You and ALL your crew do an amazing job! Love and respect from TN!
I met Todd in 2010 in San Diego comic con and he was not what I thought. He was kind, he was appreciative of his fan base and seemed genuine. This cemented to me that he was one of the greats......always nice to see someone who achieves such success is down to earth.
“We had to...for the survival of the industry...we are all bonded together...not the time to be greedy...you just do it for the community...the big boys should have done more...”. #McFarlanefanforlife
I know this is 2 years old now but this is the most entertaining interview I’ve seen in awhile . It’s awesome he will never renumber or restart spawn issue numbers . Imagine if amazing Spider-Man did that .
Definitely one of my favorite Toddfather interviews I've seen in a while, dropping that Infinity Inc history is great. His enthusiasm is truly contagious, as is yours Tom!
I don't care what some people may say when Spawn comics go to $3.99. I know I will say "Thank you, Todd", thank you for supporting us fans, like myself, who struggled in life. We honestly appreciate that consideration and sincerely are grateful for it. It's truly a blessing for us fans, that the man who revolutionized comics, still remembers what it was like to cherish every book and know how much of an impact that could have on everyone forever. Thank you Todd, I truly am grateful for every issue and everything you've done to get me and my family through the worst of times, which in turn, now are the best of times. Spawn Eternal.
Hot damn what an interview! I've recently come across your content, and I love the passion u put into everything. I used to collect Spawn everything yrs ago, still consider myself a fan, and you're reigniting my passion for comics 20+ yrs after I paused (notice I'm not saying "stopped") collecting. And now I came across this Todd interview and I couldn't be more hyped. Thanks for all u do ComicTom!
What wonderfull nice persons todd and tom are! Thank u todd for every issue spawn and ur love for the medium and the communitiy! Thank u Tom for such a personal interview! Shot outs from germany from a spawn fan since number 1.
For me getting back into spawn after years was the compendium. Marvel and DC charge hundreds for omnibus, Todd charged 50 for 50 issues. Love them, and it's a brilliant marketing move.
😄Hahahahahaha❗️❗️❗️ Goddamn, this was one of the most enjoyable interviews with The Todd Father that I've ever listened to...🤘🏼 This man is The GOAT...💯✔️
Todd mcfarlane is a true gem . His books are going to be worth millions when he passes I hope he lives until he’s 100 though doing what he loves . He’s not a greedy man that’s something I always knew and he even said 26:00 greed it a bad thing
Around Halloween, i got back into comics, horror specially, at a Halloween party at my friends house he gifted me a spawn issue 301 , n man have i missed spawn, now im reading spawn again, as well as king spawn, and today im picking up my first issue of scorched
Talented designer, seems to me, with this only time I've come across him. I never read the material or actually have seen any of these comics previously, but, in this cursory look, I can see an exceptional ability to capture shape, color, positive and negative space in an exceptionally vivid fresh way. As far as comics' numbering: The interest in early issues stems from not just the item itself (the art and story) but how those relate to and manifest the times of its creation. How innovative (and/or not) was it AT THE TIME of its creation. Did it foreshadow things yet to come, and, as such, can be regarded as prophetic/visionary? How much of the times are present in the books' present? These things and considerations like it confer added value and historical interest and significance, above and beyond a bare look at the art minus wider context, meaning just in and of itself. Plus: We tend to value things that have survived the ravages and tests of time. We value objects---especially fragile objects, things like pottery, paintings and handwritten pages, etc etc, from ages past. They are samples---sometimes the only things left---from a previous time, and thus are venerated for that fact. Comics are particularly frail things, somewhat like graphic vapor, fleetingly here, then gone. To be able to grab that fleeting fragile thing that was 'in the air" and preserve it for, hopefully, "all" time is a passion of human nature, a way to keep that piece of history breathing life into the lives of those who come later.
My personal grail is amazing Spider-Man 318. I’ve lost them or sold them but I’ve always picked up one to always have. Even after I sold my collection I still picked up another one lol
Character sculpture idea is very intellectual way to use for comic no changes just facial expressions is a only and other its brilliance fast less time of story telling wont have to be eye-opener boom. Story boxes use angles and close ranges just faster move comic out fast
I just watched the entire interview again and have to say that the part where he talks about why he doesn't raise his comic price is a big reason I like him even more now.
Exactly what I commented
Same, Have went back to this interview a few times, and much respect on keeping price over the years. I would not blink paying 3.99 for spawn monthly, and this just shows how great Todd is. *”Why would I say THANK YOU, by raising the price to them?”* - tha god Todd
My favorite comic book artists ever of all time. This man is a big reason I started collecting comics.
That is why he is the Todd Father he cares about the comic community.
One of the very best interviews I’ve ever watched
✊🙏💪
For such an incredible artistic mind, Todd has an otherworldly ability to talk and sell ideas.
Imagine getting some of Todd's first work after he knocks on your door and says, "Hi, I'm Todd, here's a comic book." Damn.
What a purely amazing person Todd McFalane is. I’ve always loved his work, but listening to him talk is just AWESOME!
So many great stories from him. He is so inspiriational and still cares about comic community. Glad to hear Spawn is going through a renaissance.
awesome interview such a passionate and humble creator. I always think of him as Spawn, and forget about all his other contributions at Marvel and DC. Really awesome how he just hits up random “undiscovered” artists for cover art.

Todd clearly is passionate about the comic community.

todd is a fellow canadian. his humility, modesty, and lack of greed are canadian characteristics.
This is such a great interview, Tom. So easy to watch and the manner and passion in how you both speak is so enjoyable.
Great interview! Really enjoyed this.
Thank you so much for this wholesome interview with Todd McFarlane. He’s genuinely an awesome human being. Who would’ve thought?
This made may shitty week so much better! Great interview.

I think in his younger years he was a little more of a handful. He's aged gracefully. I enjoy him regardless
The type of people who don't like McFarlane are the miserable type who hate anyone successful.
Very insightful and inspiring. Thanks Todd and Tom.
One of the best Artist out there ...And this is why im a collector of spawn series
Absolutely LOVED watching this again, all in one sitting this time
Great interview!
Todd is the man!!!

As an entrepreneur, I’ve got to say that Todd dropped so much outstanding business advise. I would pay good money to watch a Todd M Business Seminar
I love McFarlane, the road to 300 was just amazing
Wow this is hella a coincidence I recently subscribed to you for your interviews with Todd cause I recently started reading spawn
Thank you Tom and Todd! That was awesome!

Could you imagine being stuck for hours in an elevator with Todd?? You would curse the fire department for actually "rescuing" you!
Only 15,000 views after a year wtf ! This is gold more people need to know
Is my boy trying to grow a beard?!?! Looking a little like Brandon Boyd of Incubus..hahahaha
Old vid but that’s a huge compliment hahaha

I just realized now why I can't find an affordable copy of Avengers ANNUAL 10, Todd's been hoarding them all 🤣
Todd and Tom rock
Todd, a guy who just gets it.
Great interview! Todd made me want run out and …
Great show
👍Very cool.
such a great artist truly amazing artist.
My personal grail is amazing Spider-Man 318. I’ve lost them or sold them but I’ve always picked up one to always have. Even after I sold my collection I still picked up another one lol
