- The Jackalope Carp Fly is one that works really well for carp in rocky environments. Orange seems to imitate a crawfish more than anything. See how it works for you.

Great fly build. I like the touch of humor your bring to the game.
Really appreciate it, KM! Catches fish. That's for sure. Hope you're fishing's going well!
Dude I'm inside a plane working some issues and your vid had me laughin for sure! Cant wait to get home and tie some of these babies!! Fish in bro 🤘
Hey M.D., glad these babies made the plane ride a bit more comfortable. They're fish catchers for sure. Thanks for the comment, my man!
This looks like a great fly for carp in my area, can hardly wait to tie a few up and try it out
+Felipe Dominguez That's awesome to hear, Felipe. Feel free to experiment with the hook choice as well, or any other aspect of the fly for that matter. I'd love to hear how it works for you. Thanks for commenting!
This a pattern I really like it! Well tied
Thanks, man! I really appreciate it. Hope fishing's good!
I can see this taking small mouth in streams as a crayfish pattern.
They absolutely do work on smallmouth. I have had a bunch of people tell me that they do incredibly well with them on smallies. We fish this pattern in natural, black, and orange. We will use it for smallmouth when we are fishing for carp and freshwater drum. Smallies love them, but use them in situations where you can sight fish or where you know there are tons of fish. It's not the best searching pattern. It also works well for Great Lakes smallmouth, again when fishing for carp along side these fish. Good luck!
I’ve caught largemouth and more catfish on this fly tied with chicken feathers over rabbit strips than any other fly
Awesome lesson thank you sir
Hey MCFJ, I appreciate it. It catches tons of fish for sure!
great videos
+ZDG Thanks a bunch, ZDG. I can tell from your avatar that you've got good taste! Thanks again.
doesn't the superglue scare off the carp?
I've never experienced superglue scaring off any fish. There's lots of different scents on the fly in the rabbit dyes, etc. I personally never worry about it. Hope fishing's good!
@@toflyfish thanks! So do you think using sharpie to bar or color materials would also be ok?
@@arnehefer5749 If you add tons of marker and it is not completely dry, the scent will definitely change. With that being said, I've caught 1,000s of fish on flies with marker stripes. I tie another pattern the Potato Chip Goby that has marker. Just let it dry, and you'll be just fine. Thanks!
@@toflyfish thanks a lot! I’ll be sure to try it out
Sounds like Bat Dad!
WHAT SIZE HOOK DO YOU USE?
Hey Michael, I use size 4 to 8, but I will vary the hook. For the standard Jackalope, I use the Daiichi X452 unless the carp are smallish. In that case, I'll use the Tiemco 811s. The Tiemcos have bent on large fish in open water. I will also use Owner Mosquito hooks and Gamakatsu C14s for really small sizes. Hope that helps.
