John Silver was the drummer on "From Genesis To Revelation". The songs on this album were not meant to be performed by the band but by other artists hence it sounds so odd. Paperlate came from the sound check section that they used for Dancing With The Moonlight Night. The 7 saintly shrouded men crossing the lawn in Suppers Ready reference the ghosts Peter Gabriel saw from his bedroom one night, this left a marked impression on him hence the spiritual references in Suppers Ready. Well said Shaun about The Lamb.
Great rankings guys, love Genesis here’s mine: 15. Calling All Stations 14. From Genesis To Revelation 13. We Can’t Dance 12. Abacab 11. Invincible Touch 10. Genesis (1983) 9. And Then There Were Three 8. Trespass 7. Duke 6. A Trick of the Tail 5. Nursery Cryme 4. Wind and Wuthering 3. Foxtrot 2. The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway 1. Selling England By The Pound
Very interesting discussion. My least favourite to favourite: From Genesis To Revelation, Trespass, Abacab, Genesis, Nursery Cryme, Calling All Stations, And Then There Were Three, Foxtrot, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, We Can’t Dance, Selling England By The Pound, Duke, Wind And Wuthering, Invisible Touch, A Trick Of The Tail.
That's interesting, thanks. You have a real mix of periods there. You seem to appreciate all phases of their career. That's a big tribute to the band, I guess.
It's all very subjective of course but ABACAB should be 15 it was awful! Having that ahead of Wind And Wuthering is crazy. ATOTT and WAW I thought were superb records. ATOTT is a Post-Gabriel masterpiece considering the band lost its charismatic front man and writer. A strange paradox is even though I preferred the Gabriel era, I think those two aforementioned were some of their best work. Thanks for the vid guys. Yer man Steve is right I love WAW too!

Thanks. Yes, I don’t fall into the usual Peter or Phil camp. Both eras are fantastic, both have good and brilliant albums.

Thanks for your comment. ABACAB is obviously a controversial one! To be fair, Shaun also thinks it's shite.
@@CRAPA832 It is as are all the albums after Then There Three.
@@kymvalleygardensdesign5350 But again, would you think that if it wasn't by Genesis? (I think I can predict the answer! 😂)
@@CRAPA832 I would not have listened to it if was by another band.
I agree wholeheartedly
