Because of the new UK sugar tax, restaurants and other places that sell drinks now only sell the "zero" version of that drink due to the prices they'd have to charge due to the sugar tax. So if you're going to do the taste test you'd need to buy Coke Zero from the UK. This is why, along with the lower portion size, the calories of the drink amount to less.
The American is right about the hotwings tho UK cooking is usually very bland. You guys are the kings of frying and only 2nd to maybe Austraila when it comes to BBQ. BTW I'm 27 and I have no clue what W.A.P. is
Oh I'm looking forward to that, made an American friend in school and she couldn't get over how different our coke was in Nz. 10 years later and she gets it shipped back home 🤣
My experience with Popeyes fries is completely different from Flats. I’ve only had fresh hot fries. They have flavor, a little kick of heat from the spices, and great crunch from the batter.
Probs the people at his can't be arsed cooking them. Where I live in the UK, the MC donalds in town always has stone cold chips that are super floppy but the one in the retail park by me and any others I've been to are always how they should be.
I love that you started doing Food wars, do some more. Popeyes isn’t really all that big in the U.K. you should watch the bigger chain vids they do like McD/subway/KFC even the lays/walkers chips/crisps comparisons
Popeye's is like 5 Guys. They haven't been here that long and there aren't that many of them. The few there are aren't advertised nearly as heavily as KFC, McD's and BK's. That said, I've been to two 5 Guys and quite like their stuff, although it's so much more expensive compared to BK, McD's etc.
Wrong about the Coke, Flats. US Coke uses high fructose corn syrup and rest of the world uses cane sugar. Tastes way better with cane sugar. Also, different countries can add less sugar, sodium, etc.
"Can add less" being the key part. A regular coke will end up having a shitton of sugar no matter where in the world it's sold. Maybe cane sugar is better for us, but as Flats pointed out: you won't be able to show this by pointing to the cokes sugar content label.
Coke absolutely tastes different depending on the country you try it in. I went to Sweden and it absolutely tasted different. It was the same with ketchup.
16:51 there's this wonderful thing called food regulations that even Coca Cola needs to adhere to and take stuff out for European countries. Also yes, corn sirup is absolutely more calorically dense than just sugar because of it's chemical composition
The Popeye's near me (U.S.) is run by a mad man who hates money. They constantly run out of chicken and turn people away hours before closing. I miss my old Popeye's: (
Hey Flats, I think you can buy the Sweet Chili Sauce in America, look at an Asian store. I always buy mine there and it's just awesome! I think it's the same as this is also recommended with chicken.
i feel the same way about you, as you do about the "US" guy, "every time you say something even if it's right it makes me just want to disagree with you just out of spite".
1:40 Someone described to me that they basically are just selling you the cup, not the soda. So they truly couldn't care less what you do with the soda, just as long as you buy the cup.
16:15 Of course it is not the same but that is the point, US serving sizes add unbelievable amounts of sugar through the drinks especially. As you can see, our BIGGEST drink available is smaller than your SMALLEST one. That is the point. Yes it is the same coke, same sugar per ounce, but Americans drink fucking 5 liters of it per meal and europeans drink a sip. Both of the drinks are called "regular".
Only places I have had decent KFC was in Singapore and Indonesia. The one in Gothenburg is a disappointment and you're better off going to NFC at the central station if you want fast food chicken
Actually, some sugars are sweeter than others and are harder for the body to break down. Though made from plants, refinement processing changes these isolated sugars from natural to industrial in some cases. Industrial doesn't always mean bad but it sometimes means your body may not know how to properly "use" the foods or is more work for your body.
To be fair to the vegan options, its more like going to the ice cream shop with some friends while lactose intolerant and getting the option without lactose.
If we are talking about fries it is a scandal to call those fast food slim fries fries at all. Those abominations. Make some thick crisp fries. Crunchy with a bit of a mushy inside.
9:30 Was this a joke im missing or does he miss the fact he shit talked the red bean burger only to go on to talk about red beans and rice? Kinda seems like he was serious and not just joking.
Y'all are gonna really love the coke followup episode

who doesnt like a good boulevard of coke
Oh I'm looking forward to that, made an American friend in school and she couldn't get over how different our coke was in Nz. 10 years later and she gets it shipped back home 🤣
Kfc is tradition in Japan
My experience with Popeyes fries is completely different from Flats. I’ve only had fresh hot fries. They have flavor, a little kick of heat from the spices, and great crunch from the batter.
Must change restaurant to restaurant because I have had the same experience as Flats. I totally agree about the flavor though.
Probs the people at his can't be arsed cooking them. Where I live in the UK, the MC donalds in town always has stone cold chips that are super floppy but the one in the retail park by me and any others I've been to are always how they should be.
I have never heard of popeyes being in the UK, presumably it’s like 1 or 2 locations
i know its in london straford, but its trash here
There one in picadilly in Manchester
I love that you started doing Food wars, do some more. Popeyes isn’t really all that big in the U.K. you should watch the bigger chain vids they do like McD/subway/KFC even the lays/walkers chips/crisps comparisons

Never even heard of pop eyes

Watching this in 2023 and seeing flats go into Hanamura 6v6 was such a blast from the oast
Yeah it just looks right, 5v5 role lock just ain’t it. Who knows maybe they will test some 6v6 2-2-2 and see what peoples reactions are someday.
8:02 Flats is so funny man, that got me.
16:51 there's this wonderful thing called food regulations that even Coca Cola needs to adhere to and take stuff out for European countries. Also yes, corn sirup is absolutely more calorically dense than just sugar because of it's chemical composition
This is the content I live for, sweet heat is an S-tier sauce for sure, I'd put that shit on everything.
As an Arkansas resident i know the south kinda runs together
The Popeye's near me (U.S.) is run by a mad man who hates money. They constantly run out of chicken and turn people away hours before closing. I miss my old Popeye's: (
POV:you walk into a restaurant and ask "hey sir do you sell vehicles?" "Sorry sir this is Wendy's."
Popeyes is not a UK thing at all. For our chicken, we have local SFC shops dotted around
Hey Flats, I think you can buy the Sweet Chili Sauce in America, look at an Asian store. I always buy mine there and it's just awesome!
I think it's the same as this is also recommended with chicken.
Nah Bro, English Scones are amazing, but you serve them with jam, clotted cream and butter to counteract the dryness.
Do like Epic Meal Time does and walk in like "can I get a large cup of the sweet heat sauce? I'll pay for it I just want the sauce" it works for them
i feel the same way about you, as you do about the "US" guy, "every time you say something even if it's right it makes me just want to disagree with you just out of spite".
Blackened ranch is damn good.
If you go to popeye's you have to get the sweet tea. No way are you getting soda when the tea is so damn good.
We have options everywhere here. Ice cream shops would have dairy free options and out fast food chains have vegetarian/vegan options too.
Most countries versions of pop are different than american drinks
1:40 Someone described to me that they basically are just selling you the cup, not the soda. So they truly couldn't care less what you do with the soda, just as long as you buy the cup.

UK doesn't use corn syrup so different coke
Edit: didn't see pinned comment lol
"McDonalds $1 any size drink"
Man this aged like fine milk
im from the UK i didn't even know we had a popeyes i've never seen one
Only places I have had decent KFC was in Singapore and Indonesia. The one in Gothenburg is a disappointment and you're better off going to NFC at the central station if you want fast food chicken
Isn't the uk coke made of sugar and not corn
What? Do you mean corn syrup?
All sugar comes from plants. Corn or cane it’s all equally bad for you
Actually, some sugars are sweeter than others and are harder for the body to break down. Would like to see you react to some of the older ones, Mcdonalds, KFC, burgerking etc. I don't really like the newer format personally.
No tangy BBQ? That stuff slaps, too. Also, my experience with the fries has always been pleasant.
As someone who lives in "arkansas" flats is right no one lives here.
Wait did this guy really just say we don't do fried chicken well in the UK. The chicken connoisseur gonna have words with this guy
They're not allowed to use high fructose corn syrup in the UK the US coke does use it
Not Alabama Arkansas, those are just Edward Sharp Lyrics. It's Mississippi and Alabama
Coke is very different depending on where you are. Very few countries have the same coke formula
Man i miss the lvl Boarders in Overwatch feels sad :(
I'm on board with that Sweet Heat!!! That is one of the best sauces out there, if not the best fast food sauce period!
blackened chicken is easily the best thing to get from Popeyes, also it's made to order every time so it slaps
I didn’t even know we had a Popeyes in England
Me watching in Mississippi while he says nobody leaves there
the moment you said sauce, sweet heat was on my mind. very repectable choice
Fam which Popeyes do you go to? The fries where I’m at is banging, they’re crunchy and crisp and amazing
Yall are weak if you can't eat a whole biscuit without a drink. It's not nearly as bad as some people try to say.
Ain't it crazy how the size difference between small and medium is basically the same as the large and medium but flats says theres no difference?
If we are talking about fries it is a scandal to call those fast food slim fries fries at all. Those abominations. Make some thick crisp fries. Crunchy with a bit of a mushy inside.
i live in arkansas and im offended
I laughed so hard at this video, Nice job flats!
Flats imo do a Pokemon Masters music tier list, It has some bangers on there especially koga's theme, lance and johto gym 👌🏽
All arkansasans are immediately offended
The fries where I’m from are good but them biscuits are dry it’s so bad
You'd be surprised how many people come to KFC to order the Vegan Burger (also UK KFC btw)
Coke from Popeyes in the UK doesn’t contain corn syrup like the US does
I have never seen a popeyes in the uk ngl
That’s how many ounces but how much is ice
The Vegan stuff is going crazy over here, its so that a group of friends can go the the same place and eat for example, 1 friend may be vegan
The cokes can't be the same because Americain has sodium the UK has none even if its smaller it still has to have some.
I live in the uk and have never heard of Popeyes
Wait we have Popeye's in the UK?
We.... have a popeyes in the uk? Since when?
Wait we have Popeyes in the UK?
idk i live next to the worst popeyes in chicago and my fries are still crispy
9:30 Was this a joke im missing or does he miss the fact he shit talked the red bean burger only to go on to talk about red beans and rice? Kinda seems like he was serious and not just joking.
popeyes fries are goated
I don’t eat the fries there either. I prefer nice crispy fries. I actually really like kfc fries
I love how they are horrified by the large fry and the gallon of tea, like they aren’t for multiple people.
Coke should be the same everywhere but it isn’t. Mexican coke hits different. Way better.
Causally calls Mississippi Arkansas
ok but, how mean are the employees to you in the UK? in the US, if you don't feel belittled by popeyes employees did you really even go to popeyes?
KFC is my holy grail
Why does flats know what a 60 yrld D look like?
We have Popeyes in the UK?
Blackend Ranch >
Hate Hawaiin Punch
America guy woated
Believe it or not, Matt pat states alot of incorrect things.
It’s completely possible the UK Coke is different since even though it’s half the size, it contained none of the sodium. It’s not as dehydrating.
ah
Arkansas, lmao
Only US Kfc is dogshit tbh.
Like you'll be surprised at the difference of Menu options and quality of their International branches.
as soon as he said their fries were bad I clicked off and unsubbed
I'm here for the gaming content. Not flaming. Giving my honest feedback. Dropped a like but did not watch. Much love.
The American guy is mad annoying I see why the rest of the world hates us
The American guy is really obnoxious lol
I really don't like the American host
