Lots of people have a hate for gen 5, so much so they forget all the interesting things like the strange house. It also didn't help that by the time the games came out we found out X and Y were on the way.
ForestFairy1 Gen 5 was actually my favorite and I've been playing since 1998 when I got Red for Xmas on my Gameboy. I had no idea at the time how BIG Pokemon was cuz I was home schooled so I was a Pokefan who really wasn't following trends or fads, I just loved the games and anime all on my own. I'm 28 now.
RandomTens I just wanna say that super paper Mario is my favorite video game of all time and I'm so glad it's finally getting some recognition and being on this list! Awesome job 👍
One that really got to me is in the new pokemon game pokemon ultra sun where u enter a haunted school to help a little girl get over her fears but at the end a janitor comes over and asks what ur doing and the girl dissapears and the creepyest part is when the janitor tells u it was ur Imagination I suggest u try it.
i just hate how the redeads can just sence you and look at you if they know you are there but you arent in their triggerrange yet.and the scream is an upgrade of the oot-one in the redead being creepy while walking towards you......actually,it makes a lot more sence than the games general tone technicly if i think about it since windwaker takes place in the adulttimeline
In response to your how they can turn their head at you, I actually found out that you can sneak past them if you walk real slow. Works with both OOT and WW, though WW ones have a much lower threshold, making it almost not worth it.
Great list Stan! I totally agree on Metroid Fusions spot, when I first played it it always freaked me out whenever the aline would enter the room and it would do that zoom in. Anyways, Great job!
Metroid Prime was basically runner up. That research lab seriously feels like you're in the movie alien, especially when you have to start using the visor haha
I was horrified as a kid. The feeling that anything can be in the next room is terrific. Not to mention that you are being constantly followed by the SA-X, which makes it even worse. Man I would do anything to play Fusion blind again. Now I know the BSL like the back of my hand. The bosses were especially terrifying. Nightmare, Nettori, Yakuza, the SA-X were all terrifying
Nice Hotel Mario with heavy filter transition, Stangos. Spookiest Nintenderino level? Ikana Canyon in Majora's Mask... Or the Castle place. Both are very unsettling and make me feel very uncomfortable.
Also Old Chateau in DPP Pokeyman makes me spooked. The music, ghosts... It's unsettling. I kind of love it, actually. More spooks in pokemon is always appreciated.
Arcane Toaster "Should you feel yourself attacked by a sudden chill, it is evidence of an approaching Gengar. There is no escaping it. Give up." RATED E FOR EVERYONE. (Also yes, those last two sentences are really in the game. Someone actually put that in the actual Pokedex for the actual game.)
Actually if you wanna go by Pokemon lore there would be a way to save her Celebi the time travel Pokemon. In game you can't actually save her due to that not being an option programmed into the game itself BUT in we're just talking lore and Pokemon's powers then there is a way.
Diamond and pearl was my favourite gen of pokemon, and saving the girl was such a heartwarming scene, now im depressed as hell that even that quest couldnt save her
I'll be honest, to me the entire story mode for Super Smash Bros brawl is the scariest because of me being terrified of the concept of isolation petrification and not being able to control yourself and being completely Frozen. So to see it happening to either peach or Zelda as well as Luigi and Ness Etc. Is simply terrifying
This is a really good list, the scariest thing for me in a Nintendo game (aside from bottom of the well in OoT) though has to be the G.F.S. Valhalla in Metroid Prime 3, with the dead federation soldiers everywhere that dissolve when you touch them, to the empty, dead music. It terrified me!!
Another one could be the royal family's tomb in legend of Zelda ocarina of time. You know, the one with the zombie things with the masks that freeze you if you look at them and then jump on your back and slowly eat you .
I didn't really consider it but after seeing the Forest Temple from Ocarina in your video, I'm convinced it was the most nerve-wracking game for me growing up and has definitely left the biggest impression on me.
Dude Earthbound is actually super messed up with the cult and "other" imagery it likes to use towards the end. I think this is one of the reasons so many people still have unconditional love for the game, even if its actual game play has aged a little!
I agree on Metroid Fusion, though if I had to pick a single locale in the series that generally creeped me out, it would be the GFS Valhalla in Metroid Prime 3. A completely desolate flagship with corpses everywhere (both friendly and hostile alike) that make this chilling shriek noise when they disintegrate, eerie music, Samus' breath fogging up her visor in the higher areas of the place, and a few tough enemies lurking around corners. Oh, and Metroids carrying bodies with them. Then the icing on the cake: Aurora Unit 313's final transmission once you access it, all while an even more quiet, unsettling soundtrack is playing.
Thanks for doing a different countdown then others, you missed a couple of really good ones but I liked you did that because I got to see many ones I didn't know.
I almost screamed when you said paper mario! I’ve played it since I was 6-7 and it’s always seemed underrated, in my opinion it’s one of the best mario games out there.
6. Pretty unsettling 5. I agree with you on this 4. Of course it would be here. I find the Ancient Cistern scarier, but this isn't exactly pretty either. 3. I can see that being creepy 2. Wow, I agree with each entry so far 1. Eat your heart out, Lavendar Town! My pic for creepiest Nintendo level is the Shiver Star Factory from Kirby 64, because of the haunting turning point and creepy implications of the level. But as for my scariest level in all of games I've played... well just wait for my creepiest levels list, which should be out in a couple days.
Psychonauts has the creepiest optional area in any non-horror kid-friendly game, when you enter the mind of a girl called milla you find a chest with creepy sounds coming from inside, when you try to open it she warns you that you won't like what you'll find inside, when you go in you find yourself in a burning room with the crying souls of the orphans that died in a fire at the orphanage Milla worked at while she was away and in a slideshow it shows how the screams of the children tormented her and scarred her for life, it doesn't help that when you talk to the kids they say things like "where is Milla?" and "why did you let us die?", and the worst part is that this is inside Milla's head so that's not the real kids' souls but instead that's how she feels about it, thinking that it was her fault for leaving them alone.
Dude yes! Forest temple just seems off and it's the toughest dungeon in OOT by far. Never had any trouble with water temple which is infamous for some reason.
I definitely agree about Ocarina of Time and DK64. One of my favorite things about DK64 is how it doesn't hold back when it comes to being dramatic and surprising.
I agree with the pokemon one. It was sad finding out that you couldn't even help the ghost girl pass on. All that trouble just for some legendary pokemon. In my opinion, it wasn't worth it.
I'm actually really happy to hear someone else say that DK 64 is creepy. The whole thing. You even have the level I hated the most as the actual entry. I'm 25, it still creeps me out D:.
@@RandomTens Nice to see a Canadian who is successful on here. I was starting to think there weren't any good Canadian channels. Nice. Found your channel the other day just subscribed before this comment or I'd go sub just for being a fellow Canadian lol.
The metroid series definitely takes the cake for me, I was playing it by myself one night...and I realized I was shaking by the time I turned the game off
One level that used to scare the shit out of me as a child, was that one level from Ape Escape where you have to enter the bowels of a huge prehistoric monster and walk around inside him, even coming across a half-digested shipwreck in his stomach ! *Shudders* Never got past that one.
On super paper MARIO, the second stage with that mansion scared for months and I didn’t complete it, then I decided I’m going to finish it, that was the creepiest part for me
One of the games that looks innocent but its still pretty much a kids game (rated Teen) that was scary was the level in Okami when you finally manage to go into the sunken ghost ship with those creepy dolls and giant swamp algae stuff hand that chases you.
I love whenever he's like this a halloween game you will lose sleep, ooooooooooooh when I'm thinking ooh that's cool a spirit in pokemon or oh no a diddy game with a smiling boss
I'm glad you put strange house at #1. Not many people talk about it in their countdowns.
It's probably one of my favorite side-stories in any game. Black and White 2 in general I feel are a bit underrated...
Lots of people have a hate for gen 5, so much so they forget all the interesting things like the strange house. It also didn't help that by the time the games came out we found out X and Y were on the way.
that was probably the best part of those games

that awkward moment when skeleton has better dance moves than you

>Overwatch helps you forget the hardships of everyday life
Lol, okay
Those damn redead from Wind Waker, ugh. The OOT redead were bad enough but the WW redead were extra spooky.
DeathShouldTakeMeNow exactly, I was dead scared even right now of those damn ReDeads in WW
i just hate how the redeads can just sence you and look at you if they know you are there but you arent in their triggerrange yet.and the scream is an upgrade of the oot-one in the redead being creepy while walking towards you......actually,it makes a lot more sence than the games general tone technicly if i think about it since windwaker takes place in the adulttimeline
Whenever I see Redeads, I panic. Legit, once they do that scream and freeze me, I shield my eyes.
In response to your how they can turn their head at you, I actually found out that you can sneak past them if you walk real slow. Works with both OOT and WW, though WW ones have a much lower threshold, making it almost not worth it.
killercore007 it works in ww? didnt expect that considering how you just stand there and they look at you
Great list Stan!
I totally agree on Metroid Fusions spot, when I first played it it always freaked me out whenever the aline would enter the room and it would do that zoom in.
Anyways, Great job!
I felt that way when I played Metroid Prime, especially since Metroid Prime has a first person view.
Yeah man, Metroid prime is awesome and the atmosphere was incredible!
Metroid Prime was basically runner up. That research lab seriously feels like you're in the movie alien, especially when you have to start using the visor haha
*Satan**
I was horrified as a kid. The feeling that anything can be in the next room is terrific. Not to mention that you are being constantly followed by the SA-X, which makes it even worse. The scariest thing in the video wasn't the video game levels... it was crash bandicoot on that poster. looks like he's about to murder someone
+Arcane Toaster Sun and Moon turned the WTF up to 11.
Deku Kitty playing it right now, just read the Moon Bewear dex entry... YOU KNOW, FOR KIDS
Arcane Toaster "Should you feel yourself attacked by a sudden chill, it is evidence of an approaching Gengar. There is no escaping it. Give up."
RATED E FOR EVERYONE.
(Also yes, those last two sentences are really in the game. Someone actually put that in the actual Pokedex for the actual game.)
I totally forgot Ikana! Another really scary level for me was the G.F.S. Valhalla in Metroid Prime 3,
2:54 HA my greatest fear is flying cockroaches
The Strange House and the Old Chateau take my top spots. ESPECIALLY AFTER THAT CREEPY ORIGINS SPECIAL.
I know right! I'm actually surprised they were allowed to animate it to the level of scariness they did haha
HeetHootSkyat Noctowl You're thinking of Generations.
The Old Chateau episode of Pokémon Generations actually gave me chills. And I was *18* when I watched it.
Actually if you wanna go by Pokemon lore there would be a way to save her Celebi the time travel Pokemon. In game you can't actually save her due to that not being an option programmed into the game itself BUT in we're just talking lore and Pokemon's powers then there is a way.
That fucking piano in Mario 64 scare the shit out of me back years ago
original comment
when i was 7 i saw the piano i nearly mashed my DS
not me
joesakic70 i didnt do anything
joesakic70 ganon scare the shit out of me then
Oh ……… *top six* I see what you did there
I get it too 66 then last one
Wait, that was intended?
There are SOOOOO many creepy moments in Nintendo games that I think I'd need a top 50 list. Metroid Fusion, though...
It was so satisfying to face my fears and complete the Underwhere because, Luigi.
nice work on this i was not expecting the last one
Thanks dude! It's quite the hidden gem, but seriously twisted aha
Diamond and pearl was my favourite gen of pokemon, and saving the girl was such a heartwarming scene, now im depressed as hell that even that quest couldnt save her
Creepy Castle terrified me when I wad little. It was mostly the ball room since there were people laughing in the background as soon you walk in.
Really? No destroyed sammer kingdom? Or submerged castle? Not even the cave of past? These ones seem more terrifying
Luigi’s Mansion’s entirety is a inescapable hell. I still can’t finish it to this day.
Y u no Majoras mask
dude this was LEVELS not charecters
besides Ikana valley and maybe the moon...I mean DK64 had a lot more creepy levels
Jayden C the house isn't a level
Especially the fucking moon...
Duh

You missed a bunch especially from zelda
I know, he put forest temple on here like HOW forest temple doesn’t make any since
Frantic Factory really creeped me out as well
I love metroid fusion, I still have a gameboy sp with it.
"Dad, mom, Abra, where are you..."
That's just depressing.
forest temple REALLY the forest temple
i always found the forest temple relaxing
The crash bandicoot on your wall/backround is creepy
None of them were scary except the last one
I didn't really consider it but after seeing the Forest Temple from Ocarina in your video, I'm convinced it was the most nerve-wracking game for me growing up and has definitely left the biggest impression on me.
I like your channel because you don't jumpscare like others.
Shadow Temple. Very good environment and creepy atmosphere.
Though I’ll agree about the unsettling atmosphere in the Forest Temple
Good Job as usual my guy. Pokemon and Earthbound are surprisingly messed up games when you think about it
Dude Earthbound is actually super messed up with the cult and "other" imagery it likes to use towards the end. I think this is one of the reasons so many people still have unconditional love for the game, even if its actual game play has aged a little!

8:09 finally someone talks about that i swear that creeped me out when i played It and found that house
7:40 to the zombie in Red and Blue

Moonside was more frustrating than anything with the random teleporting. Unless you knew where to go of course but still one of my favorites!
Giygas himself made me not want to finish the Earthbound game as a kid. I finished it now as an adult, but that shit had me terrified as a child.
I almost screamed when you said paper mario! I’ve played it since I was 6-7 and it’s always seemed underrated, in my opinion it’s one of the best mario games out there.

lavender town is more sad than scary
