No one saw it coming, bro. They were mocking her, rolling their eyes at her....then she started to sing, and 3,500 jaws hit the floor. To see grown men moved to tears by her performance is really quite something. I still cry every single time I watch this, and I've watched it 100s of times. It was the most STUNNING audition EVER on Britain's Got Talent. Legend.

With 85 platinum and 18 gold albums as Runner Up in BGT 2009, Susan is one of BGT's most successful artists. The one who laughs last laughs the longest. Susan's dreams came true, in December 2009 she sang a duet with her idol Elaine Page, in 2012 she had an appearance in front of the Queen, her diamond throne anniversary, November 2012 she had a duet with her idol Donny Osmond in Las Vegas. 🤗🤗🤗

Even while watching reaction videos I'm looking at Susan Boyle. Beyond the usual banalities of not judging a book etc, the fact Susan could get an audience on its feet in seconds speaks to some kind of powerful, human energy. Her voice goes straight to your heart and opens it. After all these years I'm still inspired by this incredible moment.

She finished the song and crowd was standing with thundering applause, she had finished. She was mentally in another place and the guys offstage brought her back into the "next" moment. The moment all these shows want to have. She stayed in voice and character with the place going nuts.

She came in second but Simon told her during the competition that he was going to sign her regardless of the outcome
She did go on to be the top seller in the world (female) for number of records to be sold in a week. Believe that was in Dec of ‘09.
U MUST MUST MUST her performance of WILD HORSES. SERIOUSLY....truly the best cover yet

When pierce said that everyone was laughing at her, she seemed that she had no clue that everyone was laughing at her in the beginning. This reflects her simple spirit because she was used to people picking on her first other children when she was little and I'm sure it carried through adulthood. She deserves everything the world has to give. She spent her adulthood caring for her mother till she died and now she felt that her time has come and with good reason. You go girl, rock that world!

It brings tears to my eyes every time I see this video. How the audience and the judges look at her and the expressions on their faces like making fun of her the way she looked. God bless her!! Susan has Asperger Syndrome, so touring can be very stressful. Surprisingly, she's said that Simon Cowell has been a great help to her. The first thing he did was put her under contract. That was very smart. Susan now has a net worth of approximately 60 million dollars. I've watched this video a couple dozen times, and it still ends with me in tears.

We all pre judge others, its a survival trait. The thing is to learn from it, as long as we have the ability to rise above our prejudices we will become better people.

    • @samhartford8677

I agree. But instead of thinking that fight is 'our survival instinct' we should understand that conformity and cooperation are our actual survival instincts. We do not abandon our babies to feed for themselves. Why take care of them for years. To survive the children need to learn the behaviour of the immediate family that feed the child.

@@jennie2921 It's not 'rough'. It's you finally saying what you could not say when you were bullied yourself.
All bullies are weak. One just needs to be intelligent enough to understand what their weak point is and use it in a morally sound way for them to stop bullying at least when you are around.
Some are just sociopaths. Like Trump. Can't stop them.

We react immediately by being cautious and keeping away from them. Life is short, and we learn that too late in life. We waste much time being afraid of the wrong people.

Please react to Charlotte and Jonathan's first audition on BGT 2012. Just a few month's before, Jonathan Antoine had quit school and was suicidal due to all the bullying. When he stepped on stage, Simon said "Just when you think things couldn't get any worse." At Jonathan's sold out Toronto concerts in 2019, which were filmed for American PBS, he sang the song "Compass" the lyrics were changed for him to reflect that difficult time, there are family pictures shown behind him. That video got me through 2020. Also, watch his video's "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" from his live streamed Christmas concert. There's a hint of Elvis to his voice and that last note is STUNNING! His "Nessun Dorma" and "Dein Ist Mein Ganzes Herz" which he does sing in German are both Fantastic.

I could watch that video all day! I read she lived in a consul flat with her parents and brothers and sisters. she was deprived of oxygen at birth so she had some learning problems, I guess her family grew up and left because she lived alone in that flat with her cat called pebbles. she was bullied in school and was made fun of by children, even as an adult. I think she was very very brave to go on that show in front of all those people and sing just with natural talent and no formal training.

Wow. I'm 2 years late, but still... Loved your reaction and this is 1 of my mom's fave moments. I bought her the CD. She passed away almost a year ago and this video brought back so many memories. Wow. If you ever have a few minutes to spare, PLEASE react to Mother by Ina Wroldsen. Basically a song about someone singing to their mom in heaven. Amazing song and vocals and melody. The chorus has a choral feel to it ♥️

I must’ve been around 6 or 7 when this episode aired and I can remember looking at my older brother and we both laughed but holy hell the moment Susan opened her mouth and that voice came out we shut up. She’s outstandingly talented and is just a beautiful soul in general, she has asperges (sorry if that’s incorrect spelling) her mum and dad were very protective of her as a child for that reason, people in her village were very unkind to her and she spent her life caring for her sick mother putting her life on hold until this audition, she truly is a fantastic women
