I love this experiment, Annemarie! I saw some pinecones that a lady had painted the bottoms to look like flowers. I'm a nature girl, so the pinecone as is is gorgeous to me, but a painted one might look cute in resin as well. Have tons of fun with your workshop!
I love how you will put yourself out there and try new (to you) things and show the great and not so great, because that’s exactly what happens to us all. Now we know the white alcohol ink is a must. I made a few of these with my 9 year old grandson as an introduction to resin. He was mesmerized and loved doing it. We used metallics, but they seemed to float on top (eventual bottom) and were disappointing. You can stir them slightly. That can be pretty too I think leaving a little clear resin shows off the colors the best. One downside...I’m told the alcohol inks fade or even change color. Sometimes very quickly. I was disappointed in that. Still, it’s fun and pretty for something a bit different. You keep experimenting. That’s how you keep me coming back to learn new things. You’re much loved and respected for what you give us.
I have been wanting to try my hand at the resin Petri dish technique. Good to see your video. I really like the idea with the pine cones! Hope you try this! Thank you as always.
Well isn’t that the coolest thing ?! Luv the pinecone idea.you could make some serious fancy Canadian designed hockey pucks out of this too yeah? Lol I lovebyour philosophy Annemarie,”let my husband do it” haha,I do the same thing! Let Joe lop a finger off,I don’t want to!! Have funnwith your gals in the workshop! No fellas? Hugs
another delightful vid. u need a bug to put in ur petri dish!! 🤗 i always admire u brave souls who are willing to experiment. i wouldn't've done that cuz i wouldn't've wanted to "waste" the resin. thanks for being brave!!
This is so interesting!! I have white alcohol ink but no resin :D I have to hit the shop next week. And I need metallics and glitter ;) I hope you and the participants of your workshop have (had?) a wonderful time!! All the best to you!
I am going to try this first with some paints I have plenty of on hand. Some are transparent colors and others are opaque colors. The white I have is heavier and opaque so it may work to create the petri effect without using my alcohol inks. I don't have white alcohol ink but will have some soon so if my original idea using the special paints I have does not work then I can do the ink version. :D - Heidi
Annemarie, I love to watch you work. You make so many lovely things. I watched the video you made recently, on resin and alcohol ink and it reminded me of another artist who works only with resin and she too makes lovely things. You may know her work. She is Jane Monteith. In your research, you may want to include her tutorials on resin, (RESIN and ALCOHOL INK HANDMADE VASE - 2/11/2018). She also has a variety of videos on making coasters, etc. She explains as she goes like you do, so I always learn so much from you guys. I am interested in resin and alcohol ink and hope to try it soon. Thank you for sharing so much of your work. You make me want to succeed. God bless you and your endeavours.
I check out the kitchen area at Goodwill and have found several silicon shapes that are really super cheap. I don't know what you might have where you live, and probably don't have the time to look, but just saying. Lots of times I find excellent buys at that sort of shop. I have three goodwill shops within ten miles of where I live and too much time and not enough money.,
I just got two molds that are probably for ice cubes. I also got one that has hearts, probably for sweets. I just started looking for them since I am a newby to resin. It is pretty expensive but plan on getting at least one of the molds next week. We are trying to sell the house so that takes a lot of time. I love your videos.
Oh, I guess I should have listened to the rest of the video before I commented on the Christmas tree! By the way, I didn't really see any bubbles. Did you have any after it dried? You need to be careful with your torch on the silicone, because it will melt it! You can also just blow gently, and it will make them dissipate as well. I'm sure you already knew that though. :)
I am very jelous of women going to your house for a workshop. I bet you all have a blast!!! Have a great time Annemarie. There will be folk queuing up at your door for future workshops. I'll try not to think about it way down here at the bottom of the world LOL Cheers, DEB T
This is a great experience. Would it work also with regular inks ( no alcohol in it)? Or can I add isopropyl alcohol to my regular inks? All the best from Belgium ❤
When you put that pine cone on top of that green petri dish, do you know what it looked like? It looked like a Christmas tree with a green skirt around it! Great idea for a future project!
can I reming everybody that if you watch the adverts for 30 seconds or more it helps Anne Marie,,,I just found that out after doing a bit of research..All you tubers need are help this way..Thank you Anne Marie for all your time and enjoyable videos,,love them
I love yours! I like yours better than I do the ones that put the real white alcohol ink in it! Yours are very unique and very beautiful! What did you make your own white out of? I was trying to tell you in the beginning, But you were not listening to me, to be careful with the gold, because it's going to sink to the bottoml! But, you found that out on your own! Lol It was difficult for me to see on my phone, but I have never seen anyone use the bronze. What did it do?
annemarie ridderhof . My mistake. I think the alle sounded like part of a phrase a former co worker used years ago. Thanks, Annemarie, for all of your very informative videos. BTW, #566 is one of my favorites.
Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing! 💟💟💟 Good luck with your workshop!
