The trick to stenciling is to use a very dry sponge. Pounce some of the wet paint off on paper plate or towel first. Otherwise the wet paint will seep beneath the stencil and you'll end up with messy edges. Using stencil adhesive is another solution, but sometimes leaves a sticky residue which can be a pain. I love your spirit of exploration and I love experimenting with various techniques and mediums too, so I find your videos very inspiring and interesting. Plus, you remind me of my mother in so many ways. So so many ways 😍💖🍃🖌️ She was also an artist from Holland who loved to explore and experiment and had no fear of failure and no regrets. Thank you for all you do.
Stephanie, from Deliberately Creative has given me the courage to try drawing. You have inspired me to try doing stencils and transfers. Each artist I watch has something different to teach me. I really wasn’t interested in art that much until I found acrylic pouring. Now I am trying different types of art thanks to you and others who take the time to teach.
I must say I love this rougher look...and that all the lines are not perfect...it is more Life Like...like going on a walk on finding a cast iron ( or something like that) in an old house or garden area...it is like the moss has grown on the cast iron...who wants perfection...
Hi miss Ann I'm glad you're feeling better. I have watched several of your stencil videos and thinking that someone would let you know what you're doing wrong and I see that they haven't so I decided to leave you a comment. I used to be a big-time stenciler back in the 90's and you're putting way too much paint on your sponge. If you want it darker or richer you wait till it dries and then you do it again. Less is more and then you won't be getting all the splotches and the paint that slips up underneath the stencil and also another tip is that they do make a stencil spray that you lightly spray on the back on your stencil and it's the type of adhesive that you can peel it off and on several times it will not leave a residue on your canvas. . Hope this helps. Looking forward to your next video. Have a great day!
You can get stencil adhesive to spray on the back. It is repositional bet helps keep the paint from bleeding bemeath the stencil. Always enjoy your work and videos. Hope you are over "the crud" (as we call in my house) SOON!!
I like the way the stencil painting turned out. They don’t have to be perfect........seems I heard that from my favorite mentor, lol! Not to mention any names, Annemarie....hahahateeheehee.
Annemarie I have had stencils do that when I wasn’t careful. After it was dry I lightly sanded it to make it seem faded and rubbed some water based oak stain into the picture. It ended up looking like an antique
I stenciled as a profession and taught a class at a university. If you use a sponge after you load it with paint, you need to pounce the excess out onto a piece of paper. Then the paint will not seep under the stencil. Also my preference was a tightly packed stencil brush. Love, love your videos!!
"And if it doesn't work out, who cares, you had a lot of fun" Very true. And if one isn't having fun, why is one doing it? Life is too short. "Be kind to those who don't want to share their secrets, because not everyone wants to do that." (nods) And it may not be because they're being secretive, it may be because it's a lot of work, and they'd rather spend their time making art than making explanations. "I've gotta do one more guys" I laughed aloud at that. "But if it's not how I really like it, I won't put it on" (nods) I agree. Even if other people like a piece, if you yourself don't like it, there's no point, because one will be wincing every time some one praises it.
I am just guessing but she has a lot of subscribers for many different types of art and some may not watch fluid or pouring while others may not watch other types of creations. good channel though, deliberately creative.
Agreed. Her videos are very diverse, and not everyone who subscribes may be interested in every video she does. I find that also with The Frugal Crafter -- some of her videos I watch, some of her videos are on topics I'm not that interested in. Whereas Annemarie is more focused on one topic.
I'm enjoying catching up on your videos :-) But since I haven't tuned in in awhile, I didn't know you were sick. So sorry to hear that! Hopefully you're on the mend and continue to heal quickly so you're feeling in tip top shape very soon.
Hi Annemarie Thankyou for sharing your art and I also enjoy your imagination and experiments. I must have missed the video about Shelley art would you mind giving us the link again. ☺
It’s called “proprietary knowledge”. When one discovers a way to do something. My husband had this in his business and a lot of people wanted to know how to do it without paying for that knowledge. He worked long and hard developing his methods that put food on our table.
if you did that stencil in black, it would look like wrought iron. gotta find that other stencil vid! i think they're beautiful! thanks for doing this!
That’s funny.... i‘m thinking about this thinner tube and blow out thing for weeks :D ... a really big straw, the outside of a thicker pen, there are some medicine tubes which are small and long.... i‘m sure you will find the perfect thing :)
I have seen two of your videos where you mention an "acrylic spray" but I didn't find in your everything-you-need-to-know files. What is it and how and why do you use it?
Many artists have videos on pouring art and other creative processes, however, if I like their video and think they are deserving a second look, I subscribe. I may not go back to that artist unless I see something they have created and I want to give it a try. I only have a few artists that I watch on a regular basis which is Annemarie of course. Sometimes their videos are irritating like their laugh or they fool around too much, or their creations are always the same. In my opinion, artists who post their art and do not want to share their secrets, only want praise and want to sell it.
Annemarie, first, thank you for sharing your creativity and experience, secondly, it would really help, when you are showing a follow-up or results clip, that you would give the name of the product you are happy with the results, so a person doesn't have to try to find the name in previous videos....I watch all of them, so I am supposing it is Vallejo Varnish?
You told us how good that first top coat was that was shiny but you never said what brand it was or what it was you use to apply it. I would be interested in learning both of those things because I loved what it did to your paintings! Thank you so much for the info
That's because she applied it in a previous video, so just look back one or two videos. It's by Vallejo and it's called Top Coat, and as Debra wrote, it's not available to the public yet.
You can also click on Annemarie's icon, the. Go to the list of her video's - you can sometimes see what you are looking for in the title...and you can use the search function there too.
Annemarie, Dickblick.com has a sale on Ampersand Gessobord and Claybord - 40% off. That's in the US. Not sure this is helpful to you or your fans. Thanks.

When it`s ready I will announce it online.

Thx

make up sponsjes van de action , werken lekker....;)
♥♥♥♥♥♥
The jaggedy edges are because you are using too much paint on your sponge. You get a crisper look with less paint
♥♥♥♥♥♥
What did you use instead of resin?
?...sorry ?
It looks like it turned the white to beige, or is that just the lighting?
I don`t see it...
♥♥♥♥♥♥
Maybe use thicker paint and drier sponge, make up sponge.
♥♥♥♥♥♥
WHAT is just like resin? I missed it?
RDnAC the new pouring medium. Go to her last couple of videos
RDnAC Its called top coat from vallejo but just not available for us
♥♥♥♥♥♥
Haha....... just one more....I promise :).
