    OUTSTANDING! I built this and added a filter - put the system in a 4X2X4 shed (bought from Amazon) upgraded the hose, the one it came with was some plastic junk, that might have worked, but I wanted it perfect. Thank you! I wish I could send Pics

    I finally built a dedicated fuel truck. 3x55 gallon steel barrels, a very long pickup line and a US Fill rite pump. 30+ feet of 1" outlet hose to reach a 90 gallon tank on my large excavator. The pick up tube end is 3' of black pipe with a screen and nylon mesh end on it, and sits in a 2" pipe for storage. Close the barrel bungs tight when not fueling. Important to filter the outlet to remove water and debris.
    I use 3 large surplus Gresen filters ganged up that have water traps. Essential unless you want lots of frustration. The beauty here is that you can bring in your fuel to the job in other trucks, pull up aside and pump it out into the dedicated off road fueler truck with the long pickup line. Often my diesel has been through the filters 2x before entering the machine. Also one can pump out the fuel tanks on machines when need be. I went through all your issues years ago. For the size of your machine, that works perfect. I have tripled the life of my machine fuel filters, and that is a big deal when some have 3 of them and you need to re-prime the fuel system [No fun] after a change, and that process risks introducing debris directly into the injection pump.

    Amazon has bulkhead fittings of different sizes. A rubber sealed fitting to go through tank. Make a long pickup tube inside tank and a threaded fitting on outside
    Chair leg rubber caps are available in a variety of diameters to plug nozzle

    Next step for me would be to add a battery. Amazon sells Barbie Jeep to Milwaukee / Dewalt tool 18V battery adapters. Just slip in a tool battery and pump! It’s saved me an hour fueling my skid steer and tractor 👍🏽👍🏽

    Install flat plane rotating swivels off of your fuel pump . Use a 1” ratchet strap to secure your tank to the two wheeler . Connect your inlet to a length of PVC pipe through a drilled bung plug . Just some ideas . Nice Clean Build !

    I did very similarly for exactly the same reason on the exact same tractor only I used a white 55-gallon drum. If you look at the bung plug one of them is threaded for 3/4" only the bottom is sealed. I drilled out the seal and used a 6"x 3/4" threaded nipple and threaded it through the bung seal, of course using an automotive gasket sealer on the threads. Then took a schedule 80 PVC pipe measured to fit the nipple with a 3/4" threaded coupling and fit the filter to the bottom of the pipe so when the cap is screwed back into the bung the filter is just on the bottom of the barrel. I tried what you have on the pump intake hose and did not like it. This made the inlet a solid cleaner connection which can be removed by unscrewing the bung. The other bung is my fill for the barrel. This keeps everything out of the barrel except the diesel I put in during use and storage. the barrel sits in my garage next to the tractor where I can easily attach the battery leads to the tractor's battery and pump the fuel. When I need to fill the barrel, it's light and fits nicely in the bed of my 2008 Dakota strapped to keep it secure vertically while transporting. To get the barrel out of the bed when full, I bring the bucket to rest on the tailgate slide the barrel onto the bucket then ratchet strap it to secure it while I get it off the truck for transporting it to where it sits for storage. No messy anything. Very simple, very convenient, no strain or pain. The barrel full is very heavy but hey isn't that why I own a tractor? Work smarter not harder. You asked so here it is. Thanks for your video and I hope this will help others.

      Thanks for sharing your project. I thought about the intake you suggested but just never got it done. I actually 3d printed a plug to go around the inlet hose and it works well. Your solution would be the better fix though. Thanks again for sharing!

    Love your setup. I made something almost just like it. I used a 12v fuel pump for a car or truck. It's rated for gasoline or diesel. I added a fuel filter. My setup is slow. Like really slow about 20 minutes to pump 10 gallons but it also cost less than $30. I have an old Ford NAA tractor that uses gasoline and I have a John Deere tractor that uses diesel so I wanted something I could use with all my equipment and it had to be cheap. After I use up a tank of fuel I'm ready for a short break. It gets rather hot down here in the summer. I love it for 5 gallon gas cans. I never spill fuel now.

      I don't know how to just share a picture on UA-cam so I created a video of what I made a while back. I might upgrade to something like your setup in the future. At the moment I don't use a lot of fuel. I love your setup. Add a fuel filter and a strap for the barrel and it would be perfect. I will add a link to your video. Your setup is so much easier to use and so much faster. Hopefully we can help a few more people out.

    Wow, that pump is stupid strong! Filled your tank really quick- looks like a great investment of < 100 bucks. My tractor only holds a little over 7 gal so that's a bit overkill for me. I usually fill up at about 1/8 tank and I've been using the little 2-D cell battery powered pump from HF with a 5 gal can. So far it's been stellar, and at $7.50 even if it only lasts a year or two I can replace it and come out golden. Great video, thanks! 👍

    Good day.
    I saw your video on UA-cam and I watched it and I immediately thought :
    why you don't put the supply hose in the vent opening (opposite the large opening) and maybe close it completely tight with type or a silicone kit.
    the supply hose can always be stuck in it and you can always fill in the white high jerry can
    or indeed make it in the loose cap if you don't want to have the hose fixed in 1 jerry can.
    and for your filling handle.
    fix a pipe with a slightly larger diameter on the hand truck where you reinsert the end of the hand handle with the opening facing downwards
    and so that it can no longer fall off the hand truck and onto the ground dirt and soil / sand fall.
    Kind regards Hollandduck from the Netherlands.

      @@SoatMon I get at my local car wash 30 and 55 gallon drums for free! The only thing you have to do is to wash the barrels out in a location that drains to the sewer because they have industrial soaps in them. If you call ahead and let them know they will wash them out for you Other than that free is great. They are not UV inhibited so long-term outside direct sunlight use they don’t last very long and get brittle also the rubber gaskets that come with them aren’t rated for petroleum products so they do soften after a while but again free barrels are free barrels.

    I'm thinking about doing this project. I have a similar drum and an extra hand truck, which is a plus. Did you ever get a better way of running the suction hose into the barrel? I was thinking of running a pipe down a bulk head fitting, and having a quick disconnect coupler at the top of the pipe where the suction hose would connect. Was thinking this would be good so I can simply swap out barrels quickly without a mess and everything is sealed. My issue is finding a good disconnect for the size of the hose; the size of the hose that comes with the pump. Amazon says its 3/4" but yours looks a bit bigger. The QD at the top of the pipe should also have a plug of some sort, so I dont spill any going down the road. Hmmm.... Maybe I am over thinking this. What has your experiences been? Any ideas for me?

    • @imdeplorable2241
      @imdeplorable2241 3 роки тому

      Yes. His pump is for diesel only. For gasoline, use a 12 volt automotive fuel pump, instead. The nozzle, hose, and pickup would be different, of course. But, the concept is the same.

      I got the tanks from a local car wash for $10. They had wax in them. Any plastic container should tell you what it is made of these are made of, polypropylene (PP) or HDPE should work.

      It would if you had a pump rated for gas not sure if this one is. That's a different ballgame and much more dangerous as a small spark can ignite the gas.

    • @SoatMon
      @SoatMon  2 роки тому +1

      It's diesel. You can't run gasoline through this pump. Regular diesel is this color, the red stuff does not have the highway tax on it and can only be used for off road applications like tractors, bulldozers etc. I don't use it because I don't have a source nearby, I get mine at the local station so it is sold for highway use. Our highway diesel tax is less than 30 cents so it's not worth traveling very far.

    it will pump even faster if you take out the little plug so it:the barrel) wont have to suck air through the handkerchief....or better yet .put a flip plug int that hole or a little fausct you could just turn on so the barrel can get air.....the vacumn left in the barrel as it pumps fluid out causes the pump to work too hard. ...aand it could burn up your pump or collapse the barrel.
