    Hey there, a few people have brought it to my attention that you CAN in fact get TSS from a menstrual cup, however the risk is very minimal (most cases have occurred when the cup was used improperly or left in for too long.) Here is some more info from Saalt if you would like to read more: www.saaltco.com/blog/how-to-prevent-tss/

    i think actually cups can make your period shorter by creating that suction, thus reducing cramps and encouraging shed, and it could seem “heavier” as a result of this.

    First off, thanks for sharing your experience! Very informative and much needed.
    My first cup is the Diva cup too and I like it for almost a year. Never perfect, got leaks here and there but the overall convenience and comfort got me sold.
    But then last month, oh my goodness. It took me almost 15 minutes to have it open. Sorry TMI but, I felt like my vagina was sore from all the attempts to have it sealed with different insert techniques that usually works for me. It maybe also because I am not fully relaxed and have to hurry up and pick up my preschooler but even the last attempt was not fully sealed. And I just hope it will “self-correct” as I walk.
    I read that cups should be replaced every year because it’s considered a medical device. Well it’s almost over a year for me. But I am trying different brand now. I just bought the Saalt duo pack. Hope it works well for me 🤞.

    I’m so glad you did a video on this!! It’s sooo freaking important to break the taboo and talk about periods. You made so many good points about the pros and cons of cups, but one thing is you can actually still get toxic shock syndrome from a cup. It’s still intravaginal protection and could be a potential growth medium for staph aureus (which causes TSS). The problem is that cups allow oxygen to enter into the canal and that potentiates the growth of the bacteria.
    I still don’t think this should scare anyone away. It’s super important to do your own research and come to an educated decision on what you think is best for your body. I’ve been using the diva cup since 2016 and I LOVE IT. Like, it changed the way I menstruate in such a positive way. I used the thinx underwear and that didn’t work at all for me. There are things about the diva cup I’m not totally crazy about, but they’re not so bad where I feel like I need a different cup, pad etc. Anyways, thanks for making this video!

    • @SarahRoseBeauty
      @SarahRoseBeauty  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the correction! From what I read there have only been a few reported cases of TSS from a cup, and they either happened when the cup was used improperly (left in for days at a time) or when there was some sort abrasion in the vagina. But it sounds like more data needs to be collected to determine how high the risk actually is. I don't think it's a concern as long as they're being used/cleaned as directed but yes everyone should do their own research for sure! I am so glad the Diva cup has been working for you!

    I think cups are awesome for women with lighter flow but problematic for heavy flow. I have to have a smaller cup and unfortunately for me it fills in in like two hours. And that's the opposite of convenience...

    • @Lilithka
      @Lilithka 4 роки тому +1

      @@SarahRoseBeauty Yes I do when I use a really heavy duty pad :D But it's quicker and less messy for me than emptying the cup (also the constant removal and reinsertion was pretty uncomfortable and I was not dedicated enough to start carrying lube around). I fell in love with the idea of the cup, creating less waste, saving money... I'm still keeping mine to give it another go if my periods ever decide to become less crazy :D Anyways thanks for sharing your experience with us!

    Thank you for this video. I also stumbled across PACII YT and website, and took the quiz and the soft Saalt was also recommended to me. I also started with the divacup and had been using it for about 3 years. However the last two cycles I’ve been having leaks. I bought the soft duo pack from the Saalt website and hopefully this works better for me. The Divacup (model 2) was great, but for whatever reason since my cervix is now suddenly sitting lower, the Divacup length/size doesn’t seem to work as well. Crossing my fingers the Saalt is my “Goldilocks”. When I do have to change it in public, I wash my hands and take wet napkins with me in the stall to wipe down the sides of the cup.

    I really appreciate the thought and thoroughness that you put into this video, especially the Put A Cup In It resource. I did just want to speak on your suggestion to use a handicap restroom to change out the cup. As someone who is married to a person who is paralyzed, it really isn’t ok for those of us who are “able bodied” to use the restrooms intended for those who need them. The reason for this is actually very practical. People with mobility impairments often have neurological issues on top of space issues when using the restroom. It’s actually something that my husband runs into often, people using the handicap restroom who don’t actually need it.
    Again, I really appreciate all the work you put into your videos. You’re one of my favorite youtubers. 😊

    Are you still using salt soft?
    Is it leak or pooped out ? As it is soft one that's why I asked.
    And are we supposed to remove cup while defecating ? ( Srry for this question but as I am new to cups I can't find the proper answer of this.)

      I am actually not able to use a cup anymore since getting an IUD (my doctor strongly advised against it). But I used it up until September and still recommend it! I never found it necessary to remove it before using the bathroom but everyone's anatomy is different.

      @@SarahRoseBeauty thank you soo much for replying.
      As you continue using it , I assume there was no leaking issue , was there?
      And thanks for suggesting. I will buy it and share my review after using it.
      Can you tell how I can get it? I am from india ?

      Hey, an update... I LOVE my saalt soft and lunette cups. Never going back to reusables. Saalt soft is a little harder to open because it's Larger size and soft but it gives me lot more capacity. So it's worth it.

    I really love the Saalt Cup more than I liked the Diva Cup. Diva works just fine but it can put some pressure on the bladder and isn’t as comfortable as the Saalt. Also, if you don’t have a low cervix, you might also be able to use the Saalt Soft Regular size too. It’s still a bit smaller than Diva but it’s shape automatically makes it way more comfortable than the shape of Diva. Also, to safely destain your cup: soak in peroxide for 48-72 hours. Good as new. But wash with soap and water after the peroxide and before you reuse. In case you need to change your cup in a public restroom stall: keep alcohol wipes with you. Remove and dump contents in toilet. Use a wad of tp 🧻 to wipe dry. Now use alcohol wipes to “wash” your cup. Shake dry. Make sure the alcohol is fully dry. Fold and reuse. 👍
