You could be speaking directly from my mind, Shinichi. I'm 65 and sooo many things have changed for me. I have a lot more stress, feel closer to death even though I'm healthy and damn it, I used to be pretty. Now I have no teeth and many many wrinkles. I'm also retired and trying to live on less than $1,300 a month. I'm too broke to do anything but survive.
BUT, if I hold on to gratitude and allow myself to find joy in the little things, I'm happy. I try to remember that life is good so I can enjoy it as long as I have it. Sending love and gratitude your way! 🩷🩵

Brother you got it...getting older is a blessing. Five years ago, I was bed ridden, couldn't get out of bed without a cane, started drifting away from social media, and life had become uncertain for me. Being told I possibly had Leukemia caused me to fight harder. Over 15 specialist couldn't figure out what was wrong, and the tests were only telling them that something was wrong, but what, they didn't know. Fast forward to today...I had to figure it out on my own and pay out of pocket to at least reach 80% wellness. I no longer use a cane, zero pain in my feet, etc. But I refused to stop living. I've lost several friends and it just makes you appreciate every single day. I love you brother and I'm so glad I met you. You don't know it, but while I was in the bed, you brought me happiness through your videos. You're an amazing spirit...both of you. XOXO ❤❤❤

When I was young, I cared what people thought of me. My mom and I would be out in public, and she would do something to embarrass me, and she'd say, "What do you care what people think? You're never gonna see them again." As I got older, I started to realize how right she was. Total strangers have no power over me, and friends come and go. I try to live a positive life and put negative people behind me.
You take care of 😊 live life to the fullest. You are very lucky and blessed to have Satoshi and the means to travel and love life.😊

I don't get depressed,, when I turned 60 I had a massive Heart Attack, I got 3 stents in my heart. then last year, I started having horrible leg pains and cramps.. it made it hard to walk, we went to Italy and I was on pain killers, and had to use a walking stick, we went to Japan in October and it was so difficult, when I realized the difference between trips, and the amount of walking that I could do. I have back surgery scheduled for next month. I go to so many doctors now that I joke that A doctor a day will keep the apples away. I love life, I love everyday. to walk 1 mile for me requires 3 stops minimum some days.. I do hope that gets better after my surgery. Don't think too much, just live each day. What I love about Japan is how much they appreciate simple things, like the feel of a cup or the smell of the flowers, or for the change of the seasons. My sister died at 18, killed by a drunk driver, I live each day with her with me. Getting older doesn't suck.. each day may become a little more difficult, but we can handle it.

When I turned 25, my brother told me, OMG you are a quarter of a century old. That made me FEEL old. Then at 33, I had my first and only child, a beautiful little girl. At 35, due to my own stupid life choices, I suffered a near fatal heart attack. 3 months after that, my relationship with her father came to a very abrupt, very confrontational end. I was homeless, living in a small room on a single bed with my daughter at my sisters home. Now 44, battling with addiction, but ever so grateful for even a single grey hair. I embrace them. Because I'm still here to have them. As for the addiction, my motto is I'm never going to give up giving up, until I have given up. Yeah the aches and pains are annoying, the lack of energy, but we are still here. And I'm grateful that you are too.

Approaching 50, single, parents gone, dwindling close relatives (they're single & much older) & spending my life mainly alone, it freaks me out sometimes what the future lies in store for me. Yet I am always grateful to have the chance to still be here, enjoying food & doing things, basically living. Growing old can suck, it's up to ourselves to decide if we want to live in darkness or bask in the light. I choose the latter.

I agree, Shinichi, I'm very grateful to be here. It's certainly better than the alternative.😊 Aging obviously does have it's challenging moments--ones no one told you may happen. Like when you tear your rotator cuff just reaching for your toothbrush.🤣 Or when you find out "I've fallen and I can't get up" is a real thing. And the losses are no fun, of course. But, even living with a progressive, debilitating disease, it is a joy to see what each new day brings and to be able to share experiences with a wonderful worldwide community. You and Satoshi are a beautiful part of that. 💜💜

I'm right there with you regarding your feelings. That said, I've learned to focused on what I want to do that'll make me content. Happy is fleeting so I don't use that word often. It can be as simple as a hobby (mine is art, cooking, knitting and exercising) or going for a walk with a friend... I don't need complications that are often self inflicted. Gratitude has become my mindset.

Only in the way younger people treat you. I'm 69 and life is better than ever. This time last year , my sister., who had just turned 61, hit the floor with a stroke and died 2 weeks later. Balding? You have a spectacular partner who has lost some hair and he's so great. You're so lucky to have this precious person. You're doing something you enjoy and getting paid for it. I hope you feel better soon.

My brother would have turned 51 today. He passed away 1,5 years ago. I remember him being tremendously worried about "turning 50 soon". He was worrying so much about the party, about the guests, about everything... He died age 49. It's a gift to grow old and people should always keep in mind that the alternative to growing old is dying young.

I like your view on this! I recognize what you said about gratitude. At some point, life starts to feel like you've already finished the race and just get to do some victory laps at your leasure. It's a good feeling. The pressure is off.
Strangely I've had a period like that but then it went away again. I grew up believing I'd die in my early 30s. So after that, just around the time I first met you, I was in that mental space of "Everything that happens now is a bonus". But a couple of years ago calamity struck and I lost that feeling. I got stuck in survival mode again and have been working my way out ever since. My hope is that, so long as I manage to keep hanging on to kindness and hope within myself, I'll find my way back.
I'm glad you've also (quite clearly) been able to keep your kindness in your heart. You're a good person!

Be happy about your age, many don't get to be even that age. I'm mid 40s and have several health issues. I'm thankful I'm here each day.
You look MUCH younger than you are. Be grateful for those small things like tea, or good food. Remember you've had opportunities many have not. You have someone to love and who loves you. Even the negative things happen for a reason. They allow us to help others who go through it, to sympathize with them, to comfort them.
Parts of getting older can suck, as you mentioned, we start losing friends, feeling effects of aging, and we start to worry more. But we are not alone in those events. It's about mindset. 😊

I love your perspective that each person may be in your life for a reason and that each time you see them may be the last time you interact. I also applaud you for thinking about the safety of your home in advance for when you get older, I’m studying to be a rehab therapist and I know many people eventually become limited by their homes. Sometimes a person needs a reset. A reset of the body, a reset of the mind and sometimes a reset of both at the same time. Burnout and breakdowns are sometimes a part of the proces, and they are a warning that it is better to chose you time when to reset rather than being forced to reset because of a burnout or breakdown.
It is a wise decision of you to take your time to reset.
We have no rewind rewind button and no fast forward. And the play button has its own life of which we have no control.
I think getting older and wiser is about letting go of our need to control and find joy in random things that happen and surprises that come our way. Just let the play button play.
Please be well and healthy and continue to post you video’s when you chose to do so. Viewers who really appreciate your content will patiently wait, know the true value and not take any of your video’s/posts/blogs for granted.
You are a brave, precious and much loved role model for many people all over the world.

For the first time in my, coming up on 50 years, my wife and I are making a decent living. I feel the fear of losing that stability is actually adding to my anxiety more than the stability has lessened it. I was good until I hit 55. From that point on the arthritis kicked in my feet, one of my ankles and my knees. Plus tendinitis in my shoulders. As you said, the energy level drops. At 63 I really notice rje changes now and it makes me scared for rhe next 5-10 years and beyond (if I'm lucky to not meet my end before then). Yes, rhe physical changes suck, but I want to live. I'm grateful to wake up every morning. My Mom made it to 93 and even though she was eventually crippled with arthritis she found a way to be content with her routine every day and the last few months fought for every single day. I know I'm not as tough as her, but I hope I can somewhat have her attitude.

Shinichi, I feel like I could have made this video. There are things that have changed for me as I age (gravity sure is mean), and things I don't like (caring for and worrying about aging parents)- but I have never been more stable financially, in relationships, and I feel like I have so much still to look forward to. I do worry about things like what if my husband dies first (I tell him I hedged my bets by marrying someone 13 years younger) and will I be alone (we also don't have children), but the positives far outweigh the negatives and being on this earth and getting more time to be kind to others is 100% a blessing. Also, I can't even count the number of times my husband and I have commented that we'd love to know your skincare routine, because Wrinkles? You don't know her!
