- 1 of 122 built high-performance model
Largest displacement of the factory-built EXT racers @ 440 cc
This one is tagged "X" to designate prototype/test status
Professionally restored with the best of parts. The engine was fully restored, but never started since the rebuild. Factory cross-over tuned pipes (with replacement stingers).
Extra light construction focused on being nimble for oval track competition. For example, the bulkhead is aluminum constriction.
The EXT Specials in 1971 featured a slightly longer chassis with a 15" track that represented a significant improvement in handling.
This example is most unique with its serial number where an "X" is stamped after the serial number on the manufacturer's tag. Arctic Cat experts report that this designates that it was a prototype/test machine.
Ohhh my goodness. That’s beautiful. We used to call them Turf Tigers. They won a bunch of drag raced.
I see it doesn’t have a crossover shaft. They must’ve made those in later models.
I had a 634 Puma. Raced it for a while. Won a bunch of race’s. Also had a 440Z. Won everything on that sled.
Loren Machart made me a set of pipes for my 72 EXT 440 triple. He did an incredible job. This 71 is very rare.
Cat never had a 440 Triple
had an old snow Prince snowmobile single cylinder
The most popular Lynx in my area was the Lynx with the 292 Kawasaki engine, they were light and pretty fast.
I have those exact pipes on my 72 arctic cat puma, 440
beautiful machine, but not even firing this after a total rebuild is a waste! It needs to be heard (and ran!)
i agree . how do they know it runs after it was rebuild
I don't understand the point
I agree. However if he did he would have to drain the gas out of everything. We all know what old gas does to engine’s. It’s probably more like a knickknack. Lol
Amazing
Didn’t Svenn have one like that?
Nice ext! The 1971 puma with the 440 fan cooled Z kawasaki just as fast if not faster! They are more rare than this sled!!
Classy and Fast, that's a beauty!
WOW
Why didn't they hide the wiring in the rear tail lights
Blah, blah, BLAH! Start all these machines instead of repeating the same thing over and over!!
Clueless
