    Nice to see that `ford once agin thought of its customers and made things nice and awkward.

    Mine has two wire looms there, one comes down right in front of the filter cover clips and is fierce tight spent around twenty minutes trying to wiggle the thing free, shoulders aching, knees sore from the weird angle you need to lean in from to get under there, next time the glove box is coming off, what an absolute nightmare of a design

      Went through the whole thing today. The trick is really to remove the two fat wire plugs in front of the entry otherwise it's almost impossible to get any of the stiffer high-quality filters inside. To remove the plugs you have to simultaneously push in two little plastic pins on the left and right side of the fixation bow of the plugs, then the bow can be lifted completely upwards and the plugs move out.

      @@Bernd123 thanks man. Your tip made it considerably easier. One thing to note. There is a single screw holding the plastic cover. That shit ain’t coming back to place. Once you let it fall, as I did, it’s lost forever in another dimension.
      Also be aware that there is a couple of metallic tubes which are really hot on that place, If you run the engine before doing this. I got burnings in my fingers.

    I have already commented on this exchange. I wrote that the guy took out the old filter, didn't clean the inside, didn't disinfect and put a clean filter in there. Nightmare.

    Nightmare. Ended up folding the filter to fit it. This can't be a good thing.
    Very poor design

    With this video, it is not clear to me which side of the filter to turn in the direction of air flow.

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  2 роки тому

      On the filter itself, there is always an arrow indicating the direction of the air flow

    Well done Ford. Great engineering NOT . So its a nighmare to get out and to get it back in you literally fold the bloomin thing in half. Bang head against wall. DERRRRRR.

      Actually no. You should bend it a little, but not fold - and it slides right in, it has a nice slot in there. In this video, Autodoc makes it seem like a big trouble (and also the mechanic touches the clean filter with his filthy glove...yuck...), but it is not at all. I have serviced cars where you have to unscrew/unclip/disassemble for the cabin filter, even there are types where you must remove the complete glove compartment to reach for the filter. THAT is nightmare. This is not.

    • @bottletree33
      @bottletree33 Рік тому

      @@jensendenton I must be a masochist because the last 3 cars I’ve owned were fords. The Cmax was the worse. You had to climb inside the passenger footwell on your back to get to the filter. Terrible design. I’d make the engineers fix their own creations for life as punishment.
