A good example of fixing something and breaking something else is: On both of my vehicles, not Teslas, when they went in for air bag recalls panels were not perfectly put back properly, rattles in the dash emerged, on one vehicle that I could visibly inspect behind the glove compartment was a missing screw. Never take your car in for any super minor issue if you can help it. Mechanics are mostly very heavy handed in most dealerships and will take shortcuts to speed things along.

Picked up my 2024 LR about two weeks ago and I have none of the issues you mentioned on this video. Even the center control seems pretty solid on my car. There was two VERY small paint “dimples” that you really have to look for to actually notice. One of which I noticed on delivery day and the other that my ceramic / tint guy pointed out. But to be totally honest, these are so damn small I’ll probably have pain chips bigger than these two imperfections. No big deal. I find this build so much more solid than the 2021 LR I gave back on a lease, and that car didn’t have really any paint issues or bad panel gaps.

Tesla is well within industry standards at price point. If content creators generated a large volume of views from scrutinizing the other auto manufacturers, this would become clear. What we have is an online industry of polarization that produces an inordinate amount of attention. There's a nearly endless stream of people that can't wait to be brutally honest about their recent $40k to $100k Tesla purchase.

I find it somewhat comical that people in the comment section are proving what I said within the first 10 seconds. It’s definitely not nitpicking that my TURN SIGNALS don't work. You can like or even love Tesla and still be critical on their shortcomings. Being a yes men doesn’t help the company. It’s because of people that are willing to be vocal about their criticism that we got this MUCH BETTER built refresh. And lastly, the car overall is great and i love it as my daily, don’t listen to the Qs that will try to convince you otherwise. I don’t gain anything from talking negatively. I am just genuinely relaying my experience.

The turn signals issue is just too funny, they should have kept the stalks or at least have buttons that don't stick, kinda dangerous and frustrating. For the squeaky arm rest I found a solution! You can easily take it apart by pulling onto the plastic section underneath and separating the two. Then just add RTV silicone to all the connection points and it's done. Those are the reason for that squeak. Mine is dead silent now.

I went to pick up my M3P last week. Before I walked out to inspect it, the sales rep told me they found “a scratch” on the bumper. It turned out to be a 5 inch wide dent with a dozen little scratches on the dent. I declined delivery because it would have to be sent to a body shop to replace the bumper. I was pretty upset Tesla didn’t tell me ahead of time before I drove 2 hours to pick it up. The back of the car was also pretty dirty (white exterior) so even if it had more blemishes it would be hard to tell. Now I’m waiting for another VIN, but don’t know the timeline. I’m curious if others would have declined to accept delivery or just opted to have the bumper replaced by Tesla. Declining is a huge hassle with outside insurance and financing because they were both based on the prior VIN.

I took my 2019 Model 3 into a SC back in March and they had a 2024 Model 3 that they were using for test drives. I was able to drive around in it for 30 minutes and within that time, I noticed the exact same problems you highlighted in this video regarding the turn signals. Sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't. It was like a "fun" mini-game. Alongside the no stalks, any interest I had in upgrading disappeared pretty quickly. If I decide to get a newer one, I'll either get a 2023 or wait until they do another refresh in the future in hopes they roll back some of these bonkers design choices.

This video was a great one to bring me down-to-earth. I have been strongly considering a new M3P this month, i've had my 2018 M3P for a few years now and want to upgrade. But this just reminds me that while it's all new, it's also the first year of a refresh, and giving a manufacturer a year or two to get those little bugs ironed out is always a good idea. So I think I can wait another year. Hopefully the EV credit will still be here next year.

I received my car ten days ago, and instead of having it delivered to my home, I went to the dealership to pick it up. I thought it would be easier to complain if there were any issues with the car. When I arrived, there were two Model 3 Performances, and one of them was mine.
I inspected the car multiple times, nearly for an hour, while other buyers of Model 3 and Model Y, who came later than me, drove their cars home.
I determined there were no issues and drove home. But when I go over bumpy roads, I hear a rattle sound from somewhere on the passenger side, haha.
And I just checked the taillight after watching your video, and my car also has a gap on the passenger side...
Fortunately, there are no other issues. But I can't figure out exactly where the rattle sound is coming from. I usually always listen to music when I drive, so it doesn't bother me much, but when my kid falls asleep and I turn off the music, the noise is really annoying!
I hope I find and eliminate that noise. And I wish all your issues get resolved smoothly.

Took delivery of my new 2024 Model 3 RWD (not Performance) in July. 1) The Frunk hood looks misaligned. Passenger side has a bump up at the lip and there's more of a gap on the driver's side than the passenger. I saw it at the dealership but I was so excited that I figured I'd deal with it later. 2) The driver's door doesn't feel solid when I shut it. It's like it hits and then rattles a bit before resting. 3) There's some rattling noise on the passenger side when I drive over slightly rough roads. I'm way less concerned with this though. I'm new to Tesla so maybe these issues are "within spec" but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. Unfortunately, my appointment is 7 weeks out. Never had to wait that long for a service appointment with any car company before.

Thank you for not letting this slip and posting the video. Tesla honestly needs to do better. I didn't notice that I had a kink in the top of my 2019 Tesla model three long range until after a month of ownership. It looks like the entire top of the trunk had been damaged, but it was so slight that it almost looked like it was part of the vehicles aero. Fortunately, three years later I was rear ended, and then the body shop was able to fix the damage.

While all new cars should be perfect, many aren't. Not sure if Tesla is any worse than any other brand, but what is different is the degree of scrutiny that these cars receive. As someone who has owned lots of cars over the past 50 years I've experience a wide range of issues. While my 2019 Model 3 had some very minor imperfections, they were certainly no worse than any of the other cars I had purchased in the past 20 years. This included models from GM, Toyota, Honda/Acura, Subaru, and Ford. What was notably different from all the other vehicles I purchased was that the Tesla had zero major issues. By comparison my Corvette needed new rings, had an unfixable fuel gauge issue, leaking diff, etc. The Toyota pickup had horrific piston slap when cold and had a habit of throwing fan belts. The Prius experienced a complete failure of the heating/cooling system and a failed catalyst....in addition to exterior plastic parts that started decomposing after 3 years. The Subaru was actually one of the best, but it had AC that was never really cold, and nobody could fix it. The Hondas all had issues including a leaking power steering pump, a failed fuel pump, and loss of power much beyond 100k miles. The Ford was probably the worst, with gauge issues, knocking, leaking main seal, etc.
By comparison the Tesla experience no serious issues and required no maintenance.
Current Toyotas have huge issues including V8s with bottom end failures, V6s with bottom end failures, Tacomas with transmission overheating and debilitating failures, and poor panel gaps. To make matters worse, Toyota has no spares available. This in addition to Toyota having been caught cheating on fuel economy, emissions, and safety submissions.
By comparison, Tesla's biggest issue was with the aluminum accelerator pedal cover coming loose....and wiper issues on the Cybertruck. If Tesla had anything close to the problems that Toyota has had in the past 6 months there would be riots in the streets. Instead there are videos about paint imperfections and panel gaps.
While none of this excuses the issues your 2024 car has had, it does seem that there is a double standard here.

good to know I will be definitely giving my new tesla a good going over before i pick it up thanks for making me aware. Just also wanted to know i test drove the 242 tesla model 3 performance yesterday and as i was doing a 3 point turn the steel wheel made a noise like it needed to be oiled which i thought that is not good for a new car but thought maybe i had turned it too much but then i saw a video where someone had issues with steering unit on their new model 3 which sounded like similar noise i heard jsut wondering if this is something also that is a problem. Beginning to wonder if i made the right choice in ordering mine 🤔

My Tesla Model 3 Performance was delivered on June 18. I did a surface level inspection at the showroom on the day. It was all shiny and new from Fremont, CA. The only flaw I could find was the mounting for the side view mirror. It was not flush with the window. Since this is the same on both sides, I chalked it off as a design flaw. Everything else seems to be OK. I was thinking about getting some PPF applied, but then was quoted $3000+materials for coating from front bumper to A pillar. That is too much.
BTW, your videos are enjoyable to watch and very informative.

Jeremiah, you have a great grasp of what's important when you buy a Tesla. I have a 2018 Dual Motor Model 3 and I love the car very much. I had to wait years to get my car and it was reserved online an hour before its reveal to the world. It came with a couple of fish eyes on the hood very close to the Tesla emblem. I really wanted to refuse the car and wait for another, but they told me that I'd have to lose my place inline, pay the current prices and loose my lifetime free data. I accepted the delivery and for the first week I had terrible anxiety about the paint and what other things might be bad that were not known yet. The car had only been out to the public for about six months and it was the time of production hell in Fremont when Elon was sleeping at the factory. The small things really don't matter of the long run.

I just took delivery last week, I have several similar issues, and just noticed that front under tray flap hanging down, Did they fix yours? I had the squeaky armrest, but fixed that myself in 2 minutes. Several minor paint issues, and my chargeport alignment is off, they were going to do a mobile tech, but a day before said I needed to bring it in, and the next appointment was…. Oct 16th…. It was Aug 19th at the time… but I had planned to get PPF put on, now I have to drive around for almost 2 months praying I don’t get any paint chips…. 😣

I like your honest review your Tesla's M3P built problems. While I don't expect these built issues with a cheap Honda or GM, the tech and performance of my M3 LR RWD is next level. On my car, I found four issues, driver side rear door gap, charge port door misaligned, trunk door misaligned, and rear right taillight gap. You mentioned the MY being dialed in, I saw a new 8 mile Y with misaligned front doors both. The gap was 1 -2 mm wider on top and more narrow on bottom. It's sad that Tesla is not fixing problems that shoud not have happened in the first place.

As an Australian who’s owned a Fremont 2020 Model 3 LR and now a 2022 Giga Shanghai Model 3 LR. The build quality is light years ahead from Shanghai, the one complaint is the trim has been rattling from day 1. And while they have definitely improved it, in contrast, the Highland M3P it seemed perfect in this regard.

I’ve now had a Tesla loaner longer than I’ve had my new 2024 Model 3 LR. Several I ssues with the paint. It’s black and in sunlight there were 5 places around the vehicle where fifty cent piece size grey spots would appear. It was under the clear coat. Additionally the front driver’s side wheel clicked at low speeds. And finally there was a rattle in the headliner. They had the car for two weeks. Upon receiving it back the car was filthy: dusty interior, finger prints on windows and glass, dirty foot prints and gravel/rocks in front seat floor mats. All was fixed but there were 2 new issues with the paint and the trim on the driver side door (the part the sits along the widow) just lifts off with your fingers - it’s no longer anchored in place. Such a disappointing services experience. Still love the car but would love some attention to detail and care.

I’ve got to give you a heads-up. At 30,000 miles, the issues you’re noticing now will seem pretty minor. I’ve had my Model 3 for four years, and it’s at 30,000 miles. Honestly, panel gaps are the least of my concerns. The squeaks, rattles, and sensor problems are what really stand out. Unfortunately, these cars aren’t built with the same level of durability as some others.
If you’re expecting it to be flawless like a high-end luxury car, just know that even if it starts out that way, it might not stay that way. My car is still under warranty, so I’ve been able to get these issues fixed, but I didn’t even bother with the panel gaps because they didn’t seem worth the hassle. They gave me a loaner with similar mileage, and it wasn’t in great shape either. If you want to always have a car in good condition, you might want to consider leasing and swapping it out every couple of years.

I have a 2024 Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor which is 5 months old and after 5 Tesla service visits they cannot fix the steering wheel buttons. All 6 steering wheel buttons that randomly stops working. Sometimes it's 1 button or 2 or up to all 6. It is super annoying and it's a critical safety issue. Sometimes you need to wash the windshield, or a cop is behind you but you need to make a turn but you can't because the turn signal button decides to get frozen. This also happens sometimes as well the left blinker will turn on even if you push the right blinker button.
I had my steering wheel replaced and that did not fix it. Had to replace the steering wheel as well because of a creaking noise. Also have pop, crackie, click noises from the rear latches and child seat anchor areas ( this noise started after couple months of driving ). Driver seat creaks upon accelerating and decelerating ( that's also super annoying ). This is my second model 3. If you go into the service menu and under steering wheel buttons if you rest your finger of any of the 6 buttons the icon turns orange. Even if the button is frozen. So the computer knows you are pushing the button but nothing happens. I have my 6th Tesla service visit coming up soon and if they cannot fix it I will just install after market stalks. Would not drive any other car because I love using FSD despite it's problems. If there was no FSD I would not buy the 2024 Model 3's.
Also I did talk to Transport Canada about the steering wheel buttons. ( They said they will have to wait and see as more data comes in ).
Turn signals, windshield washer, and high beam buttons are critical for proper safe driving. I think this is gonna be some really serious problem on Tesla's hands as more people buy the 2024 Model 3's.

Longtime ice car enthusiast here and looking to get a used 22 model S or 24 M3p. My brother is trading his tuned 23 bmw m240i for a 22 model s this month. I’ve been tracking my performance cars since the mid 90’s. The amount of performance you get from either Tesla, not to mention the plaid, is insane for the cost.
I’ve owned multiple modded vettes and every older vette owner puts up with questionable build quality and interior for the performance per dollars spent and their reliable/modable drivetrains. Vette interiors up to the c6 gen were very generic and cheap. It wasn’t until the c7 and c8 that they started to look the part interior wise. You can only do so much with a budget when you allocated the majority to the drivetrain.
I don’t expect perfection in a high performance car under $60k and I’m willing to deal with interior noises, panel misalignment etc because the performance and drivetrain reliability is otherwise excellent.

I'm really sorry to hear you are having a few cosmetic issues. You are correct about vehicles undergoing exterior refreshes..sometines the first runs will have the most growing pains. I know you are aware of this, so I'm just a little confused about your video.
I did not get the performance, I stuck with my LR. I just got it june 27, and its tinted, front PPF only, and Modesto coated.
It could be the fact that Tesla had more time to hone their skills ,because my M3LR has none of your listed concerns. No under belly damage. No trim issues. Heck, the front bumper is so tight fitting I can't get my finger nail in the grove. I compared it to my friends 911...its just a tight as his 911. The rear bumper is the same...super tight. I was super impressed with everything.
Like I said it's possible a fresh run had a learning curve to work on.
The under belly seems like it was damaged when being unloaded. Just a thought.
Hope you get all your concerns resolved. I personally love my M3LR. Went with white paint and white interior...and it qualified for the tax credit due to the long wait.

I own an M3 LR AWD, and I've been experiencing issues with the turn signals, particularly the left one. When I need to use it, I often have to press the opposite button to get it to respond correctly. I believe this is something that could be addressed with a software update to improve their responsiveness. Until then, I'll manage with the current situation. I took delivery of my model y performance just over a month ago. Went on a road trip 2 days after and the front aero shield and front fascia came loose, started dragging on the highway making a loud sound inside and eventually a chunk of it broke off. Called the service center near my destination and they replaced it that next day no cost. And a few weeks ago i had the trunk lid taillight replaced due to excessive condensation when it rained. Tesla service came to my house for that so it wasn’t an inconvenience at all. Also the interior drives side trim has a gap where it meets the trim on the dashboard compared to the passenger side, but i don’t care much about that. I overall love the car but had a few hiccups with it😭😭😭

I have a Tesla model 3 performance -21 and I have been to service centers and mobile service has visited us A LOT. I´m sorry to say that I´m never going to buy another Tesla. When my wife and I have saved up to get a BMW we will get one.
Faults we have gotten: All cameras stopped working so no autopilot, automatic wipers, automatic lights, sentry mode or anything else related to cameras. This took Tesla 4 times to fix over 8 months. When Tesla finally fixed it they damaged some bits behind the glove compartment which led to a LOT of rattling noise. They also gave us the car without the frunk even assemblied. We had to do this ourself if we didn´t want to wait for mobile service (over a month waiting time). The trunk opening did not work as it should. Took Tesla 3 tries to fix. Was fixed with firmware update in the end. The car was chipped at delivery by the way. Tesla did NOT fix this but just put a bit of touch up paint on it. This was before I even drove it. Also several dents and stuff on the interior at delivery. "Within specs". The upper control arm began to make a horrible noise. Took Tesla 4 months to fix. So we drove around with a horrible noise. Some cables had to be replaced behind the charging port. Unable to charge otherwise. The spoiler had the clear coat peeling off so it was replaced. It wasn´t really attached to the car correctly so the new one fixed that issue as well. Several alighment issues on the body panels. The trunk was scratched on the paint so it had to be taken to body shop for a repaint. High pitch noise from the rear motor when driving around 45 mph. "Within specs".
And then we have all the rattling noises and squeeks etc. I am not lying: We have had over 20 appointments because of this over 3 years. 2 door panels have been replaced because of it. The wood panel in front have been replaced and a lot of foam is not stuck underneath it so it doesn´t rattle. Both b-pillars have been fixed with textile tape to stop rattle. Several clips have been replaced because of rattle. The vanity mirror rattled. A interior trim at the c-pillar has been replaced but not it rattles again. There is a rattle on the front dash board that has been fixed but it back again.
It´s really ridiculus how many errors and rattles this car has. It´s a never ending story. And now Tesla says that they are not obligated to fix rattles anymore so they will not fix anything related to sounds.
I like the technology of Teslas but this is my first and last one for sure. And by the way: Here in Sweden it´s not a cheap car. It´s the same price as a BMW i4. With a lot of add ons the BMW is more expensive but the starting price is the same.

Mine had a chunk of plastic missing from the front bumper lower spoiler thingy, on delivery. Delivery truck drivers aren't very careful. The car had been delivered from China to NZ, and been on and off several boats and trucks before it got to me in Christchurch. Tesla replaced the damaged trim, although they claim I caused the damage...
I took it back to them a couple of times to get interior rattles fixed. I had a nasty one in the center console, somewhere down under the phone charger area, and another one up around the rear view mirror. There is another rattle somewhere on the top of the dash in near the windscreen, but it is minor compared to the others, so haven't had it fixed yet - am kind of waiting for someone to do a YT video on this one, and fixing it myself.
The front tyres make a thrumming noise, when turning at low speed - I'm assuming that is just what they do. And you get quite a lot of mechanical feedback through the steering wheel, which I haven't had in any other car I've owned.

I took delivery of my M3P last week and the one thing that stuck out was the LED strip on the dash being higher where it meets my door LED only on my passenger side. Its super annoying and looks like a step instead of a level horizontal line. Unfortunately I can see the right side of my dash just is isnt flushed to the bottom section of my dash making the LED higher. Im afraid of having Tesla mess with the dash as Im afraid if they need to dismantle the dash, it would cause a squeak or rattle because right now its completely quiet and like you, my biggest fear is having interior rattles or squeaks as Im super sensitive to those things and it would drive me up the wall like it did in my older Model Y that I sold. Im really surprised and shocked that your getting your whole dash replaced! Please update me on how that goes as I would be interested to see how well or bad that repair turns out. Wishing you the best on your repairs bro! Other than that, honestly I love this beast of a car and would definitely buy it again if I had to do it all over again! No regrets here😁

First off with the door alignments, you dont want the trailing edge of the panel in front to be flush with the leading edge of the next panel. If they are flush or pushed in, they can create wind noise. A millimeter of difference is fine. As long as the body lines match up i wouldn't be concerned by that.

Maybe that explains why so many Tesla drivers around me in California often don't use turn signals. I drive an R8 Spyder, a car that is more expensive than any model Tesla and because of my AMS Performace tune, it is quicker than every Tesla other than the Plaid. Yet somehow I so often seem to encounter Tesla drivers who actually look my way as if I should envy them.
One guy in Malibu, in the Ralphs parking lot, decided to park in the red, right next to the entrance. I couldn't move forward until the opposing lane traffic passed. I pulled up next to the guy. He lowered his window and turned to me as I honked. I said, "Dude, you look like an intelligent enough man to realize that you're not in a parking spot." Shook my head and moved on after I noticed he was also sitting there reading what looked like the WSJ.

My question is, do people who buy ICE cars do this same type of inspection? Are there no issues with a Ford or Mazda?

Thanks for posting this. I have several of the flaws on a Model 3 I just picked up two days ago. The passenger door is misaligned, for one. Glad I leased this car vs buying it. It’ll be recycled into a taxi in 3 years.

I love Tesla and can't wait to get the MY refresh next year!! BUT! I hate so many Tesla drivers, so many complain about such little things, It blows my mind how many petty people that nitpick every single thing... panels gaps etc small scratches and nicks.... it's a car eventually it will get a scratch or something light.. panel gaps are all in your head it doesn't affect the performance of the car or aerodynamics.. sensors or anything, just drive your dam car 💀💀 as long as rain doesn't get in or bother things why complain

Jeremiah, Check the rear drive unit. There’s several that are leaking oil in the rear drive unit. Could be the KAF fluid.

Was thrilled to get my 2024 Model 3P on May 26, but there was some major quality issues. 2 service visits so far, with the first causing damage to the interior and will need a 3rd visit. Tint shops screwed up more than twice. PPF shops screwed up by melting and cutting into my headlights, potentially breaking tabs on side cameras. After a month of this, I think to myself I should’ve done it myself, but everyone says warranty is what I paid for with new

Very few complaints for me. Turn signals can be annoying but I knew that before I ordered. Two minor (inconsistent) rattles inside the super quiet interior… front vent and rear deck…. Seems to be from vibration when stereo is loud. I am certain I can diy fix it but no hurry.. might take it in and have them fix it. 🤔

you can fix that C pillar with a rubber mallet and 5 minutes. you can also realign your door yourself with a socket wrench. why wait for a service appointment and potentially new damage?

Just got my new Model 3. The only complaint I have is there is a rattle when the bass is a bit heavy on some music.....
I'm gonna fix it once I find the location.
Too many people nitpick these cars compared to other brands. Plastic cars....this is what you get with mass production vehicles. Go with Porshe or Lambo's if you want hand made with little robot manufacturing.

I took delivery of my '24 M3P about 2 weeks ago and have the SAME front passenger door alignment issue as you. I also put in for a 4 wheel alignment as the car was pulling slightly to the right like so many owners. I won't go to my service center till 8/8 and I hope they don't tell me that my door is within spec. Honestly, it depends on the service center and your relationship with the service writers. It's got to be either the stamping at the factory that is the cause or the mounting point at the hinge that is off. When multiple cars have the same issue, it might be an issue inherent to the manufacturing. Otherwise, I have not other issues. So the '24 is much better built than my '21 LR w/ Boost.

100% the turn signal buttons are capacitive on a moving panel. So many people keep mis-reporting that it's "physical buttons"

Yea I didn't end up upgrading my 1y old M3P for the sole purpose that it didn't have stalks. No thanks to button turn signals. Such a shame, I really did want to upgrade. Looks great and performs faster. They got the outside design right but not the interior
