Loved this video! I bought a DSLR because everyone was buying it but never used it because it's heavy, and finally sold it off 🤦🏼♀️ Totally agree with all you said - everything doesn't suit everyone and whatever looks attractive doesn't necessarily work for us as an individual.
My resolution for this year was to not buy any physical books, be it textbooks for college or printed notes. I studied all the material online. This has reduced so much of clutter! My bookshelves are still full of myriad JEE books that I hadn't opened even once. Tens of thousands of rupees down the drain. Turning into a complete minimalist now :)
Would love to have the camera! I have been saving up for one for a long time now and if I have that kind of a luck, that would absolutely change my life.

This year I have taken the resolution to add products in cart and wait for 1 week atleast and I am a skincare/haircare junkie and have not brought any new thing till I finish the earlier ones. @@SaloniSrivastava A pro tip for skincare just use a good cleanser, oil cleanser if you use waterproof sunscree, a good day and night moisturizer, a serum that is mixture of different ingredients ex: innisfree greet tea serum etc and not go after the one ingredient dedicated serums ex: a niacinamide, a hyaluronic acid serum etc are too much for skin in a hot and humid weather. and above all a very good sunscreen that suits you and in time Retin A. If you are consistent you will not need anything else.

I feel it's the first time in a long time that I got so late. I was just packing my stuff last week because I'm shifting and I came across SO MANY PLANNERS AND JOURNALS. It's really crazy. One of the places I spend/waste the most money.
I think it's the most must have videos cause all the youtubers or influencers just talk about what to buy but no one actually guide to what not to. Don't waste your hard earned money on unnecessary things.just looking at others buying those we got tempted to have it inspite of thinking whether it's really our need or no. I would really feel grateful to receive the sony camera you are talking about as I really want to create my channel. I had also enrolled myself to hustle post academy to youtube course as well bought a planner in 2020 ,but didn't worked on it because of my pregnancy and later on as of my first priority my baby. Hey Saloni! This video is so relatable, actually it was 4 months ago when I came across your channel and eventually about minimalism, (through your videos) and I started reading about it. However, it was last month that I overspent, literally in the name of "You deserve it, Aanya"
This month I am holistically trying to follow minimalism, slowly and steady to be there.
Also, would love if you do the camera giveaway. It is going to help out a lot of budding youtubers out there! (Included me! )
Sometimes I too buy stuff randomly without much thinking. But from when I followed your channel last year, I am learning the concept of minimalism. My husband also follows you and always tell me that there are so many similarities between You and Me. I was also planning to buy smart watch, but now I have to rethink about it as I am just like you, don't like to wear any jewellery. And if I talk about skincare, I was buying so many things inspired by some of influencers, but now I am following my mom's home remedies only that actually suits Indian skin tone as per Indian weather.
It’s good to know that even influencers and creators are being influenced by influencers 😅😅 I always think about for a month whenever I plan buy something from an influencer recommendation 🤣 and if I feel like I really need it even after a month, I would buy it but that rarely happens!

So true... I'm no way a minimalist... But after getting to know the ideas I've made conscious decisions when buying each product.. Add to wish list and wait for few weeks.. That really helps to get any impulse purchases.. Also I have taken up buying products that last me a lifetime, rather than going with offers.
Also with skin care always I feel what I select with respect to my skin works better than what is suggested by the sales person..
I love your courage to say open the bad purchases which you made, it's going to help many people like us. The thing which I was able to relate here is that, mistakes are happening to everyone not only me. And it's okay to make mistakes, but take precautions never to repeat it.

The skincare point is very relevant. We as consumers have tendency to buy a lot of skincare products due to social media influence which results in extra products lying in cupboard and bad skin. It's best to stick on to dermat recommended products. In previous years I too had made dumb purchases like mama earth onion range which did nothing for my hair, face shop face washes which broke out my skin terribly. After analysis I started using minimal and dermat recommended ones coz my skin is sensitive. And to add luxurious and expensive products doesn't mean great ones for your skin even the inexpensive medical store ones can really create wonders.

Can totally relate to what your saying Saloni, so guilty of spending money on heels and skincare and not getting proper use out of it. One product I have still not bought but was contemplating on buying is a fitness band. I can relate with the heels purshase. Hey, in one of your video, you mentioned about how you avoid fast fashion clothing. Am an environmental planner and it hurts to see how fast fashion is actually ruining the environment and how it encourages the toxic work culture for mass production. Can you make a video on fast fashion in India to increase the awareness and also recommend some sustainable clothing brands ? Would love to learn more about the brands. Hope you consider this idea. I also get influenced very easily,so have created a way out, i add everything in the cart and then sleep on it, if i really really want i can get it, else in most cases, i understand that I was just being impulsive
I once took up a gym membership where I had to travel 1hr15 mins for. As much as I enjoyed the exercise, the travel plus gym time meant I was spending 3 hours each time. It was painful and I had to force myself to complete it and missed a ton of sessions. Now I only look at the location first.

I so so relate to expensive skincare. Do not trust any influencer, never. I never had any pimple even during teens but the skincare made my skin so textured and bad. Vit C, hylaronic acid, niacinamide all these are just going to make the skin sensitive. I learnt it the hard way. So glad, you brought this out Saloni. Also, home remedies and taking basic care of skin is way more efficient than expensive skincare, I can vouch for this after spending loads of money in expensive skincare.

I can totally understand and relate to you. I have always been inspired by your videos and you are the one who motivated me to balance expenses. Since last eight to nine months whenever I wanted to buy anything, I decide on 2 things , firstly will i need to for few months or for longrun and secondly will it be really useful to me even after a year. So considering both these factors I buy which make me understand whether I need to invest that much money in that product or not. And loved your gesture of camera giveaway. I would feel really lucky and could be able to utilise it well if I win the camera and it will also help me balance my finanaces

It's a great video and good to know that everyone makes mistakes and falls prey for ads and trends.. I can completely resonate with the below purchases and also learnt we shud only buy if we really need it not bcos the world is going crazy on it. I am also the one who.made jewellery and clothing purchases bcos my friend did. Skincare after seeing a youtube video and nothing happened simply break out and have to spend double the amount to repair the damage

I am also the same about jewellery and I regret one of my purchases from Swarosky as well. Never wore it after that one special occation, I even hate the picture of it from that day and I don't even know where it is right now. I do wear my fitbit, but I totally get that feeling of 'something on me'!!
With subscription thankfully, I have been smart enough to try things monthly first before going ahead with a yearly purchase. Phew!

The worst purchases I made was 1.getting all paulo Coelho books at a time
2.getting full set of gardening things like sand, compost ,plant pots and coco peat.
I did all these deciding a day suddenly ' I want to have a kitchen garden and have indoor plants' and ' i want to read all paulo Coelho books '.

That's such a relatable video and that gym membership even I took which didn't work out...🙈 I personally feel I have made a lot of purchases with courses and community memberships and they were great but I just couldn't manage things well till last year & I am not a pro this year too... but this year I am cautiously picking up every purchase & I am doing it only when I know this investment is really going to be something I want to be invested in with my heart and with my schedule too... 😇

Totally relatable.. I have also done so many mistakes by purchasing what so called influencer show on UA-cam or insta. They make feel our life incomplete without those products 🤦🏻♀️ luckily I m one such who doesn't fall so easily but still have taken so many decisions which I regret still one such is makeup products 🤦🏻♀️ I m just kajal n lip balm person still ended up buying concealer, mascara, half a dozen lipsticks 🙄 just thinking I will also one day start using them n look like one of them 😅

I could totally relate to this vedio. Prior to lockdown even I had spent my money on impulsive purchases, I totally relate with the cult fit membership as I have similar experience as you. I have started adapting to minimalistic lifestyle post the lockdown and your YT vedios are a major reason for it as well. I have started saving and investing rather than spending it on unnecessary and least important things.
I have just started my YT channel and I am planning to post more contents related to Nature and my surroundings as I stay in a village admist greenery. I can totally relate to this. I’ve wasted so much money buying junk. So many wrong shades of lipsticks and foundations, clothes- a size too big or small, electronics that I don’t even use and a dgi osmo for vlogging 🥲 which I can’t use anyway because the camera angle was too wide so I gave it back to my brother. And so many stupid subscription plans and online classes/courses. I would really appreciate the Sony vlogging camera if you’re planning on giving it away tho🥲.
As a marketer and someone who also heavily invests in online courses for upskilling. Always purchase a low ticket front end product of any course creator first. It will help you navigate and understand if their coaching style is good and the content itself.
If they do not have any low ticket products, see the testimonials of the results people have got after joining the course and if possible try to contact people who have actually taken the course. Sit on the decision for a while until it feels right for you.
I literally stalk the person on every platform, the results they have got for their clients and reviews.And touch wood it’s been working 😂 I literally followed a person for over a year to join their high ticket coaching program

It actually is surprising to know that u too r a prey of fomo... Someone who seems to balanced n thoughtful n mindful n inspiring in life decisions could also experience such things... 😃 To tell u honestly... I felt proud of myself that i am not at all a fomo person... I give a lot of thought before purchasing anything... N if i happen to purchase something that lies unused... I ensure to use it for some time before discarding it... Temptations are inevitable... But knowing oneself, one's liking, one's temperament well before a blind purchase is really very important... If in doubt about a purchase... Better not venture into it than regretting it later... When i started morning walks... I didnt buy expensive shoes at first... I walked for 3-4 months regularly n then rewarded myself with a good pair of walking shoes, as i didnt want the shoes to sit in d shelf unused.
I mean, how can we be so similar? Not a jewellery person, no heels, no fancy make up (never got pimples in my life) . I was planning to buy a FitBit since forever, i guess il let it be.. because just having it all day on my wrist will bother me 🤣🤣
