Beautiful flowers! I'm so glad someone has talked about the green "flower" after Dahlia petals fall off! 😁 I discovered this last season and tested them out in the vase and they look good for ages in a boquet! ❤ Dahlias are so beautiful and I think although the dinner plates don't last very long in a vase I can now use them again. When the flower is looking sad 5daya or so later I just pull all the spent petals off and admire them again 😊
I’m so glad you’ve noticed them as well! What a great find - who knew?! YOU! 😂 Yes, I’m definitely adding this in to my repertoire. Thank you for sharing!
Beyond excited is right! :) Thank you, Cristine! I'm so pleased with them! Also hoping to share why I think I had great success this year, so others can revel in their beauty too!
I am finally ready to start this year I am ready to start! I have been watching your videos for a while now. At around 6:30 in this video I found myself smiling back at you and honestly getting a little teary-eyed. I want this in my life! I need it. I have hope. Thank you so much for giving us such fun and informative videos. You're also such a joy to listen to! I live in central Illinois! I am so happy I found you!
Thank you! This is the sweetest comment ❤️ Makes the work I put into it so worth it 🥰 I’m so happy for you that you’re ready to dive in. No matter what scale you do it on, you’ll find some reprieve no doubt! My pleasure. Keep me updated on how it’s going for you! I can’t wait for you to be hooked! ☺️
OMG You are so cute and love your joy and enthusiasm! Your garden is gorgeous with flowers. I am a pink girl and love your choices. I have ordered some of the same dahlias as you. I grew two last year and had 30 this year, but 8 died rot etc. That was Linda’s baby you had, I have that one. I am going to try winter sewing, I don’t have room indoors to start seeds. I moved from OH 6a to SC 8a 2 years ago. Very hot for dahlias, but I can leave them in the ground in the winter. Like you flowers bring me so much joy. Great job and continued success! 😊
Thank you for your sweet comments! Wow, SC is probably too hot for me too lol! I bet it's gorgeous though! Jealous you get to leave your dahlia tubers in the ground...by FAR my least favorite garden activity - digging dahlias and storing them! I'm so glad you're here! Thank you, Cheri!
@@TinysGarden I was wondering if you could tell me how you amended your beds. I have that awful orange clay soil. I put in sand, top soil and peat to loosen it up. Any ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! 🥰
Righhhttttt!? They're so pretty...believe it or not, I wasn't a Zinnia person until I actually grew them and, boy, don't they shine in person!?! Glad you've gotten at least one! :)
@@TinysGarden they are STUNNERS!!! Such vibrant colors and huge selection of varieties to explore! So far this year I’ve had a light peach double, red and pink thumbalina, and pink, salmon, and orange California giant 😛
I just found you. So love your enthusiasm and your love for your babies! My family makes fun of me because I too get sooooo excited!! All the flowers look great, even after you came back from vacay. Thanks for sharing. Now I'm off to see part two. Wondering where you got your Dahlias. I looked up some names you mentioned, and I'm thinking you got them from Splendor Oaks?
Hi Madeline! Thank you! Glad you found me 😀 I got most of them from Flower Farmers or Swan Hill Dahlia Company…I’ve actually never heard of Splendor Oaks! I use the Dahlia Addict site if I’m looking for a certain variety - it’ll give me a list of flower farmers with that tuber in stock. It’s a great tool! Glad to have you here. Enjoy!
Love your dahlias. I don't think that is Linda's baby - isn't Linda's Baby a ball dahlia. You have inspired me to go ahead and plant my dahlias in my raised bed next season. I have Polka ..love it and waiting for my Sweet Natalie to bloom ( I am not in the US) Cannot wait plus I have Wiz of Oz new this year too which I can't wait for. I grow Zinnias too, love em, just started pinching/cutting them like you say to get longer stems and bushing.
Beautiful! I'm in the Chicago suburbs too and like you, starting a cut flower garden fills me with so much joy and i really needed it more than ever this year. Did you do all of the irrigation setup yourself?
Hi neighbor! ☺️ I did not…Alloy, the man who runs our sprinkler system set it up in my raised beds for me! He did a great job. It works wonderfully well…especially with our dry summer!
Wow! My dahlias are looking very rough this year. They did not enjoy where I planted them this year and I don’t have good irrigation to the spot, so that was my fault. Are these the dahlias you planted in July? If so, wow!! If not, how are those ones doing? I’m wondering because I’m trying to figure if I can plant that late next year and still get flowers in September.
Hi Kaitlin! They are not, but the dahlias that I planted in July have put on a lot of growth...I think I'll get a bloom or two from them. I don't expect all of them to bloom, but I do expect all of them will have multiplied in tubers, which is great. I'll film an update on them in the next couple of videos because you're not the only one who has asked! I've heard some other people had a rough dahlia year this year as well, so you're not the only one.

Well done, Steph! Your lissies are just stunning and I can tell you are beyond excited with these beauties.

Those colours are so inspiring! I didnt get a single Dahlia bloom this year :/ too hot
Thank you! Aw, man, you're not the first one I've heard say it wasn't a good dahlia year for them. Next year, my friend!
What great info. Thanks so much ❤
Glad you found it helpful! 😄
Woot woot!!!❤❤❤

Thank you! It’s such a blast growing both dahlias and zinnias. I’ve had great luck with dahlias in raised beds…I hope it works out well for you also!

What is your earliest blooming dahlia? I’m in the Chicago area as well
Oh man, I’m trying to remember…I know I filmed it in a video last year. I’m pretty sure it was blizzard (pure white) or Cornel (red ball dahlia)!
Execelente dia
Thank you!
👍👍👍🌸🙏🏻❤️
Where do you buy lisianthus seeds
I buy mine through Jonny’s Select Seeds! ☺️
