  • Urban Exploration: Schloss Vitzenburg - Beautiful Abandoned Manor House On A Vineyard (English and German subtitles are available!) Episode #101
High up on an old vineyard Schloss Vitzenburg is located. The castle is surrounded by a landscape you couldn't paint more beautiful. This mansion in the Neo-Renaissance style is visible from far away, so it became the landmark of the region. But the owner of the castle isn’t interested in rescuing it. Instead, it is decaying more and more. For decades this place has been closed to the public. But a short time ago we had the chance to enter the castle. We set out on a search for clues, to find out what happened to this historical site which had become famous because of a story about a witch. #urbex #abandonedplaces #bwturbex

The refugees were still civilians. They were german and lost there homes. Could never go back. I'm german and we are still so ashamed and sorry for what was done in this time. But also a lot of germans died and suffered, had to relocate. We need compassion for all sides. The children and women who fled from the east were not responsible for Hitlers actions. And the german women didn't deserve to get raped by soviet soldiers. But that's also what happend

@Александр Баум righeous anger? So you are defending the rapes that happend? If a german woman was seen by a soviet soldier she could be certain he would rape her. Some civilians?12 to 14 Million had to flee, families with children, old people. I know that millions of soviets died and it's horrible. There is no justification for the things that Nazi Germany did. But violent revenge by the soviets was also not the right answer. And it went further than that. The separation of Germany etc.

Nowadays they can't compete with the class and elegance of these buildings. The true builders and artists live back in the past and I fear, are never to return.

If I had the funds, I would completely restore it authentically (with modern conveniences), and turn it into a hotel with a restaurant, wine cellar, horseback riding, etc., and rent it out for weddings, and production companies. The owner is lacking in good sense.... he either doesn't have the funds to restore the place, or he simply doesn't want to spend the money. Though he is willing to sell it, the longer he allows it to rot, the value of the property goes down and the cost to restore it goes up. The location, along with the crazy amount of funds required to restore it on top of the purchase price, makes it too much trouble and too costly. The owner should either restore the property, or entrust it to someone without cost who can bring it back to it's former glory.

Miss Annabelle same. Why dont we respect history? Why do we destroyer it? It’s such a shame. And still, I think I still the situation is better in Germany than here in Italy. We have 25.000 castles and lots of them aren’t getting restored because in Italy the government spend really little money on culture, unfortunately...

Oh my Gods! What a beautiful property, it is so sad that no one wants to restore this grand old Lady to her former glory. I was aware of the way Germany was treated by the USSR following WWII, but you bring that dry knowledge into vibrant life with your narrative. The stables alone could become a luxurious home, and your skill with photography shows a glimpse of just how fine it all was in its day. I loved the segue from you plunking on the piano into the accompanying music, it was the perfect touch. Your still shots show the care you take with composition and mood. Surely someone can see a plan for this castle that will save it from the inevitable decline it is facing. I seriously appreciate the love you display for the places you explore, and am very glad to see new offerings from you...looking forward to your rambles through Italy. You genuinely provide quality work each and every time, and I thank you for that. It really IS the perfect place for good Witches to enjoy. Stay safe out there. 🖤🇨🇦

Not quite "lost" yet . . . But I fear it would take 10 million euros to fix up at this point. The locals will have to start their own conservation group to call attention and raise funds, as we here in Los Angeles do when a building is threatened. I love this explore for its own sake, but also really appreciate all the historical research you did 👏🏼😻👍🏽

Well, germany certainly has the money. You don't want to know how many money they spent in new projects to benefit the economy.
They could have renovated thousands of buildings like these for only one of the projects they've eagerly spent money into.
Buildings like these simply don't get restaurated because the german state is not interested in protecting it's culture and historical buildings.
They are more interested in growing profit and following their anti-german ideologies.
The sooner the germans forget about their roots the easier they can make the people more willing to forget about their heritage and establish an all-european-goverment which would much more resemble the USA than the cooperation of european states.
Robbing the europeans of their identity to form them into a new identity is their priority. And that's also the reason why germany's population shrinked to 60% ethnic germans from 99,5% ethnic germans since the 1950's. They want the germans to lose their identity and national feeling. If you control germany you control the dominant power in the EU which makes any next moves much easier.
