those Deore shifter have a super light shifting feel, so nice for kids, I got Xt m8000 & XTR m9000 they got a much firmer feel, I got used to it, less chance for accidental shifts. but the deore does nto have instand release which I love, it makes it so much easier, with my joitn issue, my shiftign gets less messed up.
bought this one used but originally from a nice bike shop that had upgraded the rear derailleur to altus so i took it in there and they fixed an issue by taking apart my bottom bracket and greasing it because sounded like it was making a weird noise. Still have the front original front forks but for what i paid am happy with them. $300 all in loving this change from my 26" trek to the world of big tires!
1:06 I hate the square taper cranks, cuz I destroy them in few months, the hole gets bigger and cranks get loose, also which BB do you have? if its Shimano UN22 I destroy it in few days. Tip, if you want proper BB get one with angular contact bearings, cus you can adjust the preload, so they last for a lot longer. you got a good enough bike there to have a lot of fun. 1:22 Sram X7 hub is a rebranded Formula hubs - hub- don't be surprised if the freehub gets wobble, after short time of use.
crank is Shimano Octalink no problem at all so far , i don't know how much riding you do , according to Strava last year i did 3K miles , so i broke a chain my self few times , but in his case, it looks like he was shifting under the load because bike has only few hundred miles, Sram x7 hub's i'm not sure if its formula or not but it has sealed bearings and I'm not aware if formula offers sealed bearings
Sorry had a brainfart, not sure about the performance of Octalink, but better system than square taper. If I am not mistaking The X7 hub is actually a DC-20LW & DC-22LW, Formulla has also made hubs for Bontrager/Trek www.formulahubs.com/product.php?t=3
do you mean cartridge bearings or cone & cup? I think the Formula hubs sealing worked quite nicely, I did not have any issues, only issues I had with Formula hubs were the Freehubs, but the system is actually really outdated, and should be retired, I think there is too much load on it, but engagement is not that great anyway. So far the only system I have used for a long time that worked for me was Hope Pro 4, but are sealed cartridge bearings, so preload can't be adjusted, but leaf springs wear out eventually but are cheap to replace. freehub body is doing well, all pawls and ratchet i the hub is doing great, but Shimano freehub gets chewed up by cogs, So I have to sand it down, but steel option is awaiable, but this is not the best solution, not sure how Sram XD driver performas yet, not tried it yet,but it was the best solution & fastest I could get at least amount of money.
Miguel Martinez it’s pretty much ok the way it is what you are planning on riding but the only one thing I would recommend is to change your stem and handle bar , shorter stem and wider handle bar , I’m 6ft and running 60mm stem and 720mm wide handle bar , My Frame is large ,
DIY Source They have it on sale here on Oahu for 340$. Was wondering if it would be better to just spend 5 or 600 and get a better bike? Can you tell me how much in upgrades you spent so I can calculate the bikes available at that price. Thanks bradah!
Do you still have this bike? I just picked one up used for a very good price and am looking to upgrade some of the components. I like what you’ve done with it.
Hopefully, this FSA headset last you more than few weeks, I crushed mine super fast, I later changed to cane creek, now I use Enduro bearings, but my trek fuel got integrated headset, which is not optimal from a technical standpoint, Chris king calls it ''bad engineering'' So my future bikes will have press-fit(what you got), I noticed wear on the bearings on the outside, clearly not good idea. I also heard Hambini engeneering say the FSA bearings are shit, I was not surprised, so my thought were correct. I installed Chris king, since I heard so much about it, and I could see they had great sealing, I am quite hopeful.
how is the fork holding up? I tried the gold with the remote, but remote & mechanism was made to kill me, it was reversed so fork is always locked out unless you have remote, I could not find the non-remote version anywhere, but saw it on Amazon a few months ago, but fork leaked made, horrible noise from damper side, the new remote deactivated the fork if ridden, due to vibrations. at least you got the crown lockout. Rockshox seems to have an issue with the seals supplied on some forks they are not up to spec, resulting them blowing out of the legs, one fork came with blown off in the box. good to see you did not get any of these issues.

thanks , good to know
for dream build I would probably go with Onyx hubs, cus of the instant engagement, it uses sprag clutch instead of pawls.

Just bought one of this any advice of how can I up grade ?
its all depends where you going to ride ?
For right now, fire trails and just beginner trails

Can I ask which FSA headset you used? After hydraulic break and shifter upgrades, I plan on upgrading the fork and headset.
