Tried it this weekend (SRC) and its pretty decent, incredible for £0! But not without issues. Seems from other comments its cool to hate Zwift a bit now, but switching between 2 (as a racer only, I rarely do free rides or workouts tbh) shows me the pack dynamics issue is a tough nut to crack. On MyWhoosh it felt like we were all attached with actual elastic bands, you drop slightly behind someone but if your power is even close to theirs you fully spring from behind to in front and then the 2 of you play an odd game back and forth without wanting to. 'luckily' I was dropped after a few KM as put into Cat 2 so that stopped being an annoyance once solo ha. The steering I also couldn't get to work pre race - I could steer to the very edge with 1 tap of arrow in either direction, but not back to the middle or only a little to one side - so didn't use in race. Will come back for more, but if anything it's made me more understanding of why it feels like Zwift can't quite get pack dynamics right - its more difficult than maybe we give them credit for most of the time
💯 agree the dynamics are clearly a tough one and not great at this stage. I am aware there was a steering issue this weekend, for Kenny avatar stayed left and it was really hard to get into the draft. Same for me though, got dropped rode solo :-)
MyWhoosh did a great job in preparing me for a recent Grand Fondo (Training plan). My frustration with the app is that it doesn’t always register a completed training session. I’m not sure if this is because I live in the Southern Hemisphere and East of GMT, but it’s very annoying from my point of view. The other thing I would like to see is the ability to import an outdoor workout into the calendar. Other than that it all works well and seamlessly links to my devices and trainer.
Thanks Si for a really interesting video. As you say, it’s a chicken and egg situation in terms of building the community. Having tried and struggled to juggle racing for different teams across different platforms in the past, I prefer to keep my eggs 😉 all in one basket. Assuming that MyWhoosh begins charging for access, can I see myself moving across from Zwift? No chance - the abundance of competitive racing on Zwift is the defining factor for me.
Love that mywhoosh is adding more competition in the indoor cycling market. I've raced both platforms and yeah, the mywhoosh pack dynamics feels very primitive whereas Zwift has had years longer to develop their pack dynamics and it feels very smooth, polished and advanced. I hope Mywhoosh improves a lot in this area in the coming years.
Totally agree the dynamics need work but let’s not forget that Zwift took many years to get to where it is now as you say. I think MyWhoosh have the foundation for a great racing platform.
It runs fine and is fully playable on my MacBook Pro from 2015 with Radeon 2GB (about 1/4 of the performance of a GTX 1080), although with almost minimal graphics settings and looks horrendous. Zwift looks much better on the same laptop
Thanks Si, you've given me the impetus to try again to get it running, fight my way through the teething issues, really looking forward to giving it a go and who knows, maybe save on a Zwift subscription.
That's what I'm using right now but considering to give Mywhoosh a try since the graphics look more appealing. Indievelo is great but just want to try different platforms.
Informative, balanced, and interesting video, Si. I want to explore the ‘Sportswashing’ issue, the human rights policies in modern-day UAE, and how they relate to the virtual cycling world. A few of you are obviously strong opponents. Can you tell me how you developed these beliefs? Have you been to UAE, know someone who lives there, or can you point me to research or resources supporting your opinion? I’ve done a significant amount of research and find it challenging to point to anything specific in their modern-day culture.

Thanks for the summary. I just tried mywoosh on my iphone, had a 1,5h freeride training and then the app crashed and i lost my activity. @filipfeyaerts3733 the turbo trainer is always the main power source and controller as you say. The secondary device is just there to validate the numbers post race.
Idk what is the future of e-cycling but it is definitely not zwift. No way with those shitty cartoonish graphics that makes snowy mountains look like vanilla icecream balls. After I tried Rouvy first time on Col Du Telegraphe I was shocked because during the ride I really felt like riding outdoors. I realized that zwift is far away from being realistic both in terms of course profiles and graphics and after few more rides on Rouvy I also realized that I was not able to focus on my ride anymore on zwift beacuse of unrealistic and dull feel of the game then I immediately cancelled my 2 years old zwift subscription... So until there is a more realistic alternative than Rouvy I will continue with the Rouvy not with Zwift clones. Btw Mywhoosh seems more natural in terms of graphics so good job MyWhoosh hope you'll do great things.

Absolutely I have no commercial attachment to MyWhoosh or anyone associated with their organisation. However I do ride on the platform, and I race on the platform and have won money in the Sunday Race club, same as any rider can.
The internet is primarily about creating monopolies. Zwift has a monopoly on virtual cycling and there is nothing this Gulf money app has that I care to try. The problem is even with this monopoly zwift still isn't profitable, so yes, there is a cost to having scab companies like mywoosh. Let's be honest, most people who pay for virtual cycling are not racers. @@SiBradeleydefinitely a great question and you are 100% right that it should be evenly applied in all aspects.
If it is true for ESports, it is true for traditional sports (cycling, football, golf, etc)!
I’m of the belief that it is greenwashing and I have an equally hard time about the other sports as well and actively avoid supporting them with my cash (though I enjoy watching Tadej and the others!)
MyWhoosh is easier to “boycott” because there are other better platforms out there like indieVelo that I would much prefer to support. However that is entirely my opinion and anyone else is welcome to have any other opinion 😊
Came back to try new worlds. Still had problems connecting my bike to Mywhoosh and resistance did not feel right. Also, all the banners and graffiti on the natural rides are just way too distracting. Why would there be spray paint on rocks and trees, just plain silly. And the banners. You do not need one every 5 feet again silly. Most of the time can not even read them they're just ugly and ruin the experience. even though it is free, zwift still offers a better experience.
Could you be very clear about your attachments to the platform so one knows if you have any conflict of interest when making the review.
Absolutely I have no commercial attachment to MyWhoosh or anyone associated with their organisation. However I do ride on the platform, and I race on the platform and have won money in the Sunday Race club, same as any rider can.
@@SiBradeley Thanks for a straight forward, no bullshit and precise answer 💪
14k views. Maybe you could talk a little bit more about MyWhhosh!
Mywoosh catering to "racers" seems like something a smooth-brained gulf dictator would come up with to burn millions of dollars.
Assuming mywoosh paid handsomely for this. Get that money 😂
Hey @freerider93 I can confirm that no money changed hands to make this video. Appreciate your input and insight. Totally agree that at the moment the majority of virtual riders are not racers. It’s a niche within a niche .
Wow man, tell us how you really feel, 👎👎
@@SiBradeleyI'm pretty sure part of you entusiasm comes from the prizemoney you got, as you also mentioned in the video, so yes, money transfer did happen. I've seen this change of attitude on several other riders. Once they win some money, then they make a 180 degree mindset change.
Cycling esports is a joke. There are no real set protocols that ensures all of the competitors are honest or the equipment follow strict standards.
Toooooo much talking. Shhheeesh.
Also mywhoosh is a pc resource hog.
Watching this video first thing in the morning and getting annoyed. Your voice keeps going up and down every sentence
greenwashing.
The android of cycling platforms 🤮
I wish I could respond saying I love my Samsung on android. But sadly I am iPhone all the way 😂
