But one the other hand i have to say that this young cat is doing a great job..........good substitute of Morse
Yes pretty amazing!And i think they play in standard tuning which no bands from the 60,s-70,s does anymore because the singer can’t sing that high.Like Whitesnake tunes a hole step down and Coverdale can’t even reach those high notes with a super low tuning like that.

He's truly a better fit for the MKII material than Morse is/was. I have been saying that since discovering the "Don Airey Band" albums from Russia/Eastern Europe that he played on with Gillian a few years ago. This is bittersweet though, as the Morse material should be played by Morse. A tough situation. I am enjoying Simon's playing *immensely* though!

Well,what I believe as as an all time ardent fan of DP,each guitarist is unique in their own way and have thier own signature touch and trademark as the of Lord of all strings.Ritchie pioneered ,Tommy Bolin with funky blues,Randy California,Christopher Cross,Joe Satiriani,Steve Morse blend it all and now Simon Macbride sum it up in this new age by adding his share to color Purple family shine even brighter through era.Overall I love them all and no one is single out .As their still part of Purple family & friends.Yeah! As Steve breathed new life into Deep Purple beginning in 1994, I see Simon doing the same thing in 2022. He fits well. It'll be interesting to see his style blend with Deep Purples style should he stay on with the band.
Deep Purple probably still has a few good years to go and being Deep Purple's guitarplayer will also give his solo career a great boost. If i was him i would go for it.
Saw Deep Purple last night at the O2 in London - they were absolutely awesome, Simon McBridge is a worthy successor to Steve Morse and the whole band were on fire!! Amazing
Simon is such a natural fit for the MKII material. I really feel bad for Steve though, as his songwriting, and the material he recorded with them is fantastic. I am interested to see if they do another album tho!
Absolutely great guitar solo. Simon did it more clear and better than all others. My congrats to DP! They got exellent musician for Deep Purple. And Steve got his new exellent home. :-)
Agreed. The music is great and hats off to the new guitarist, but Ian's voice is shot sadly, and has been for sometime. Kudos to him for keeping going though, that's a major effort for a 70 something year old!!

Also, the old way of touring mentioned by Gillan, in that the band would come to see the fans on one tour, and on the next tour the fans would come to see the band has now stopped. I'm referring to the type of venue played, where at one time you could lean on the stage in the smaller venues. It is the law of diminishing returns all round, I'm afraid.
I agree with you. It seems to me that it was more honest to call this band by some other name, but not Deep Purple. For me, Deep Purple on stage is the interaction of Blackmore, Lord and Paice with real improvisation, and not a good performance of a learned lesson. Although the rhythm section is beyond praise. It seems impossible to play like that at their age. But they do. The guitarist is a good technician, diligently copies Blackmore, there is a drive, there is no soul. The keyboard player is the same. I don't even want to talk about vocals. Total. Great cover band jof Deep Purple.
