Wow I expected to see every comment complaining on how the song is too soft, but I am shocked to see that people actually like the song, as do I. This song is really good!!
+Andrey Pilyugin well I don't but some people do, go look at the comments for their other newer song Weight Of The World, there will be a lot of people complaining about the softness, I think at least
Dude it's fucking amazing to see David's growth in this band. He came in later after their Limitless, then he learns how to sing clean parts, and he's now also one of the guitarist in the band. From screamer to singer to guitarist idk that's pretty sick IMO
Geez haven't i been missing out. I just discovered this band last night and i am in love. Every song ive listened to gives me goosebumps! The screaming is perfect too. They sound amazing live too (from the videos ive watched)
+trinity fuentes Youre right! its definitely plausible. They have great concepts too. Like that whole rebel thing they did in previous music videos. im not doing a good job of explaining that haha but I think you get me
I was just talking about that yesterday! The way they work, they could honestly pull it off. If they ever did something about time travel or even more space themed stuff.
This album is a masterpiece to me. Dave doesn't think so and he has every reason not to think so. But this is still to me their best work, even if it's not truly the music they wanted to make after all. The mystique of the album is certainly admonished a tad knowing what really went on behind the scenes, but it's still an incredible album to me. And that speaks volumes to Dave specifically and not just the band. He may not be proud of the album, but he still gave it 110% which is why it's still a masterpiece in my eyes. Props to Dave and knowing now how distant the other guys in CTE got from him, I'm especially rooting for his solo career to take off Cause he was the most talented member of the band and they are undoubtedly weaker without him.
I think this song\video is about how the musicians and bands have to leave their families constantly and all they leave behind in their absence are songs and videos for their children, lovers, and parents to see of them which is the hologram. And to the musicians exploring the world and seeing new things is cool but without their loved ones it feels like a wasteland which is why this has a desert setting, all the while they wonder if their loved ones really know who they are since they can't spend so much time with them and that's why they feel as though a part of themselves are "lost out there"
I have no problem with Dave doing clean vocals. I think they sound great but it almost makes Andy insignificant. I get that both sound different but with Dave doing cleans and playing rhythm guitar, Andy seems like an extra member. I hope Andy gets more time to shine in other songs.
Personally, not from a super fanboy point of view, but from someone trying to get into them for a while, I think they're better off without Andy. Unless Andy picks up guitar
Personally. Andy's singing gives a different feel than most other artists. when I first heard them. Andy's vocals were the highlight. and honestly they still are. I like Dave's singing. but andy gives more of a different feel than him.
You guys are truly one of the best bands I've ever heard. When I want to listen to something that puts ME in a good mood I listen to this song. 5 stars

as you grow older, time grows more and more precious. during this time, you find less of it to just sit still and enjoy something, because the things you once enjoyed have become less important than your time. but then there are some things that you just sit. in that moment. and with this, it is one of those things.
Review of full album I listened to the leaks and let me say upon first glance i was sad, it wasnt as heavy as i intended, but upon second glance, i became obsessed. This is a big change for crown, theyre easing us into this new atmosphere theyre building. All of these songs are unique from one another, instrumentally its a huge change but i think for the better, vocally though it is lighter, the vocals now match the instrumentation and energy alot more i think. Yes they dont scream as much, but i respect that they arent forcing it. Theres screams when there needs to be screams and theres cleans when they need cleans. The album is very fun, the two songs i feel are the strongest is lucky us and kaleidoscope. I have alot to say about the album, but ill leave this here so theres a real review as opposed to "its generic" or "its the best" if you feel that way, explain. I feel overally this album id say is seriously an 8/10 and i think immensely that they arent done with this idea, its going to get even better. Its hard for a band to make a big switch like they are doing. I respect the pace
I'm excited for the album and yea, Dave said in a interview about how this was a new thing for them and that's what Zero was about. "We stand on the edge, wondering if i take one step will i live, will i sink?" that's how they felt about this album
I went to Warped Tour in Scranton to mainly see these guys! The second I walked in the gates, they are literally standing right there selling there new album! it felt like a fucking dream! Then to take it a step up, I did the TEI workshop with them and it was worth the 40 minute and I will always remember that day! If you ever see these guys, don't be shy! They are really chill and fun to talk to!
still crying because this song resonates w me so much. how come my favorite band had filmed a music video in my spot, the spot where id drive to and cry, the spot where id drive with my friends to hang out and camp, the spot where i have so many memories in my personal life, it's almost surreal. i spent so many hours with my best friend here, with my older sister who passed away from an overdose. it feels just.. weird.. keep it rocking CTE. Glad you chose giant rock to pick a spot..
I made the same comment about a year back, at the time I only got corrected saying it was the wrong lyric XD glad someone else spotted the misheard lyric hahaha
Say you have a job somewhere like a certain fast food restaurant. You make decent money and build a good rep. You find another restaurant, that pays better and you can actually grow a little, pay rent or taxes without worrying about walking the line. You go for it, leaving the old job behind and the rep. Bands chance their sound, content with it, and it attracts more attention, broader audience, and potentially more money. Are we criticized for trying to stay financially stable? One other thing: why are we never pleased as fans? A band could change their sound and get called sellouts. But if a band stays the same, they are attacked for making "the same album". We complain no matter what it seems.
I'll have to respectfully disagree, I personally think it sounds more like straight hard rock. But again, I define metal as anything inspired by like Metallica or slayer, so to each his own
I love how Andrew moves around while singing or just waiting for his lyrics to come up. He does that live on stage to and its fun to watch, makes you wanna jump and dance around with him x3
Dear Crown the Empire, I was scared your new album was going to suck cuz of the new songs on the resistance deluxe but after zero I was like damn!! Then I listened to the whole new album and I'm like you truly out done yourself, I fallen back in love with you guys can't wait to see you at warped tour:)
Watching that interview with Andy really made me look at this song and album much more than I though I would. the lyrics make sense and are deeper than what I thought. I love Retrograde and it is one of Crown The Empire's most true and real albums ever..
I honestly love how the have worn different styles for each album. Like how for the Fallout they dressed kinda formal because it had almost a mystical feel to that album, and then for the last album they wore all black and leather because it went with the theme of rebellion, and now they're wearing all different colors. It's really cool!
I've been a fan from day one and to see how much this band has progressed over the year is amazing. Im happy for all of them. I was lucky enough to meet the band, from what I know they are very passionate about their work and fans. I enjoy their change in style and how they present their music. Great job guys.
Guys, ever consider that maybe they just like this style now? I know that as someone who listens to a shit ton of music, my preferences have changed over time. The fact that they're professional doesn't mean they don't like change. It's their music, they're allowed to change it if they want to. And another point, this isn't just for fun??? This is their job. This is how they make their living. With all the people illegally downloading music these days, they have to find other ways to make more money, and constantly touring would be so taxing on a person. So yeah, maybe they are selling out, but the alternative could be finding another way to make a living outside of the band. AND ANOTHER THING. Imagine doing what you love and having everyone complain about how it sucks and how it's changed, and then some new fans say how much they love it and how they're so glad they just found it. If they're getting the support from the new fans and the fans that like the new stuff, those are the fans they're gonna be happier to please. Not the bitter ones who can't accept that people change, and that their ways of expressing themselves may change with them.
It's pretty depressing to know that Dave is gone, but I'm honestly wishing the best for both crown and Dave in the future. I'm still hoping they can go back to their roots for the next album considering that this wasn't their strongest work
The entire band looks amazing, the wardrobe choices are so perfect, the dancing's great, and they all look like they're having a lot of fun with the song. That, paired with an amazing video storyline and a kickass song? I really love this! I love their older stuff as well, and I like the new direction they're going in a lot, they're growing as a band and evolving and it's wonderful evolution! The paired vocals give such an interesting quality, too, I like the differences a lot!
what a real damn shame. I preordered it after I heard zero. either they sold out hardcore or rise forced them to be generic radio rock and caused Ben to leave. this really sucks
I can't believe some people in the comment section calling this pop or that they're like 5 seconds of summer now... Like what is wrong with you? This might not be as heavy as their older stuff, but this is definitely not pop and they definitely sound nothing like 5 seconds of summer
3DDuDeRuLeZ EXACTLY. as soon as a band gets less heavy, these uneducated people call them "pop" as if the only two genres are "heavy" and pop. no. music is a wide diverse world.
+Sloane Sher listen to burning down Alaska, counterparts, being as an ocean, or have heart. That is melodic hardcore, it has a very raw sound and softened hardcore instrumentals. This does not sound like melodic hardcore, this is just post hardcore or alt rock.
+SkylitHorizon I do listen to counterparts and being as an ocean When I made my comment, I was thinking comparatively to what they used to be. They remind me more of architects than the old crown the empire now
Wow I expected to see every comment complaining on how the song is too soft, but I am shocked to see that people actually like the song, as do I. This song is really good!!
right omg
who the hell cares whether it's "soft" or "hard" if it is good?
you made this comment two minutes after the song came out...
+Andrey Pilyugin well I don't but some people do, go look at the comments for their other newer song Weight Of The World, there will be a lot of people complaining about the softness, I think at least
+youbitme true but my point still stands
This is song is fucking great 😈🤘
lol, so is your channel :)
DO U FEEL LIKE A BIG BOY SAYING FUCKING
why is no one discussing their 10/10 dance moves? like they're gettin it this ENTIRE video man
I was thinking the same thing. I was really surprised to see Hayden getting into it that much
andy's dance moves are hilarious to me😂
YEES THANK YOU Hayden and Amdy's dancing gives me life
+crankthatfilthyfrankiero *Andy's
comparable to drake
Dude it's fucking amazing to see David's growth in this band. He came in later after their Limitless, then he learns how to sing clean parts, and he's now also one of the guitarist in the band. From screamer to singer to guitarist idk that's pretty sick IMO
He's always been a singer. He's just the dedicated screamer and backing vocals and andy is the dedicated vocals and backing screams.
I agree, but Dave's always been a musician and they've even said he could fill in any role in the band and do just fine.
It sucks that he left the band though :(
Sucks they've been ghostwriting the entire time.
Angel Henry ha
It's upsetting that Dave is gone. You guys are all very gifted musicians
After 3 years searching to find this song again it came up randomly on spotify. Love this tune so much even today.
It's been about a year since I got to participate in this video. Such a good memory and great experience!
You were amazing
This reminds me of a song called Hologram by Crown The Empire
sames
How? lol they sound so different
+Fran Opazo L
The resemblance is uncanny..
i got a nanana music video feeling at first
Best music videos. Always.
^
^^ yes
I consider Crown to be close to the quality of Ice Nine Kills music videos.
1:58 "I think I’m worried that I’m into Dave"
~Andy
Why 😂
Bro-
Geez haven't i been missing out. I just discovered this band last night and i am in love.
Every song ive listened to gives me goosebumps!
The screaming is perfect too.
They sound amazing live too (from the videos ive watched)
yes cte is life lol they kill me with great music and great looks lol
Yep. They are beautiful XD
Stfu
I love this music video. They should do a visual album. thatd be fun
THAT'S SUCH A GOOD IDEA! They've never shied away from theatrics, so it would work so well
+trinity fuentes Youre right! its definitely plausible. They have great concepts too. Like that whole rebel thing they did in previous music videos. im not doing a good job of explaining that haha but I think you get me
Yeah I totally get you. They were gonna make a graphic novel for The Fallout but the money just wasn't there at the time
What??? Really! I would totally buy that
I was just talking about that yesterday! The way they work, they could honestly pull it off. If they ever did something about time travel or even more space themed stuff.
This album is a masterpiece to me. Dave doesn't think so and he has every reason not to think so. Check out their new album. Sudden Sky.
We didn't help make it, and get our creativity snuffed out. Its music, and we can love it just how Dave can hate it. Lol
I didn't think they wrote any in of their own music?!? I thought I read that somewhere..
Regardless... I fucking love this song!!
One of the things I have noticed about this band is that even if you don't like it at first, the more you listen, the more you love
You couldn’t have said this any better because it is EXACTLY how I feel.
I think this song\video is about how the musicians and bands have to leave their families constantly and all they leave behind in their absence are songs and videos for their children, lovers, and parents to see of them which is the hologram. Myke Murphy Gave me goosebumps. I agree.
interesting!
I've never thought like that. My poor imagination…
Myke Murphy I’m pretty sure it’s based around the Fallout series. But I like your tAke way better
Well I like the song a lot more after reading this. Thanks!
@@wilsone100021not fallout,it’s based off interstellar
absolutely love this! CTE has not failed me yet. Can't wait to listen to the rest of the album! This just makes me super excited for Warped
I have no problem with Dave doing clean vocals. I think they sound great but it almost makes Andy insignificant. I get that both sound different but with Dave doing cleans and playing rhythm guitar, Andy seems like an extra member. I hope Andy gets more time to shine in other songs.
Just my opinion though. Still love these guys even though they've changed it up
Personally, not from a super fanboy point of view, but from someone trying to get into them for a while, I think they're better off without Andy. Unless Andy picks up guitar
I actually like Daves vocals more than andy's 😂😂

Crown has gotten softer but they still make badass music
You are so right I love so many for there songs😏
X DICAP all bands go soft cause of old age
I agree, makeshift chemistry is different from this, but it's still amazing!
they're in their 20s moron
This is one of their softest songs imo

I cannot hate Crown The Empire even for retrograde they given so many songs that sound so Great Come Out in the last ten years.
this is my favorite song from crown the empire.. 🔥🔥
I just love Andy's stomping at 3:03, for some reason...
Review of full album
I listened to the leaks and let me say upon first glance i was sad, it wasnt as heavy as i intended, but upon second glance, i became obsessed. This is a big change for crown, theyre easing us into this new atmosphere theyre building.

TheN3roGuy the album was leaked before it officially came out
best review I've heard
Amazing video. Kick ass song. Also, whoever was in charge of their outfits fucking nailed it. And Andy's dancing was awesome.
Dave sounds so amazing in this song
So glad i didnt forget about this one, I discovered Crown The Empire at warped tour. Good times.
The vocalists on this band have really good talent
NEVER CLICKED A NOTIFICATION THAT FAST IN MY LIFE
SAME
Omg ikr
I like your photo of Zelda :)
Yeah then i saw the new Enterprise Earth song.
+Klol Is Here same my friend 😂 EE is too brootal.
My favorite song ever. This is everything I ever needed, thank you guys
Am I the only one who watches this 100 times in a row when I'm sad...? Idk, this song in general just makes me smile
Hey man i was at scranton too!
still crying because this song resonates w me so much. how come my favorite band had filmed a music video in my spot, the spot where id drive to and cry, the spot where id drive with my friends to hang out and camp, the spot where i have so many memories in my personal life, it's almost surreal. i spent so many hours with my best friend here, with my older sister who passed away from an overdose. it feels just.. weird.. keep it rocking CTE. Glad you chose giant rock to pick a spot..
New eden song and plus a crown the empire one? Best day !

Enterprise Earth as well!
And Bad Omens new song "The Fountain"!

band that change their sound are always 10/10 to me

Nate Firestone thank you 😂
Okay this song will never be the same 😂😭
I made the same comment about a year back, at the time I only got corrected saying it was the wrong lyric XD glad someone else spotted the misheard lyric hahaha
cool video and song

Someone needs a metaphor thesaurus I don't wanna imagine working at a fast food place for a living while listening to this.. jeez
+Eatin Paul 😂😂 true. It's not the best metaphor but it's all I could think.
maybe youre just reading way too much into this.
a band like this primarily appeals to 12 year olds so its no surprise theyre never satisfied
+uwot m80 k
+uwot m80 Edgyyyy
This album has its own feel, but if I had to call it something, it's a mix of Restoring Force/That's the Spirit.
YO I can kind of see it. Of Mice and Men and Bring Me The Horizon.
I hate making labels for bands, but you are KINDA right
Yeah, like obviously this has its own sound, but if it HAD to be associated with something, that's it.
took the words right from my mouth ! defff see them in this album
Mang OB I was thinking more Sempiternal + Future Hearts (All Time Low)
Yeah they were tripped out on acid and stoned during this album lol
Anybody saying this isn't metal needs to get with times and understand that there is a wide spectrum of metal.
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH SENSE
But they were never really metal...more post-hardcore with some metalcore riffs
Agreed, this feels more post-hardcore than anything.
I'll have to respectfully disagree, I personally think it sounds more like straight hard rock. But again, I define metal as anything inspired by like Metallica or slayer, so to each his own
Post hardcore isn't metal homie. This is what the band has become now. A slightly softer version of Post Hardcore.
I love how Andrew moves around while singing or just waiting for his lyrics to come up. He does that live on stage to and its fun to watch, makes you wanna jump and dance around with him x3
this album is literally so good i dont understand all the other "fans" and how they hate it??? its literally my favourite album of 2016.
tree could punch me in the face and i would still kiss the ground he walks on. thats how deep this band has me
My favorite Crown The Empire song period 👍
Who in their right mind dislikes this? So catchy, well written and the production makes it so sick!
At first this song didn't really get to me, but the more I listened to it; I liked it more and more, and now I cant get enough of it!!
And now Dave left the band...
You have to admit, Andy has the best moves
Dear Crown the Empire,
I was scared your new album was going to suck cuz of the new songs on the resistance deluxe but after zero I was like damn!!
Is this same band who wrote Johnny's trilogy?
Yes... :(
Yes.
Good 'ol days buddy. Sad that it's over.
I hope the Runaways will rise again.
Some emo bands grow out of their emo phase band
the music video reminded me of interstellar!
Not only did there style change, but also their wardrobe lol. No more all black clothes
I mean they all look bomb so I'm not complaining
I mean the album is called RETROgrade so it makes sense
I honestly love how the have worn different styles for each album. Like how for the Fallout they dressed kinda formal because it had almost a mystical feel to that album, and then for the last album they wore all black and leather because it went with the theme of rebellion, and now they're wearing all different colors. It's really cool!
yeah😂
I miss the formal clothes from the fallout:(
I've been a fan from day one and to see how much this band has progressed over the year is amazing. Im happy for all of them. I was lucky enough to meet the band, from what I know they are very passionate about their work and fans. I enjoy their change in style and how they present their music. Great job guys.
Crown the Empire most underappreciated band in existence
Not heavy ≠ BAD. It means not the SAME. And that ≠ BAD. This is good shit and it's well written and it stimulates a response from me. All I ask for.
Guys, ever consider that maybe they just like this style now? I know that as someone who listens to a shit ton of music, my preferences have changed over time. The fact that they're professional doesn't mean they don't like change. It's their music, they're allowed to change it if they want to.

Bullet Blaze thank you for this comment. If I heard this a year or two ago, I would've hated it. Now, this is one of my favorite styles of music
PREACH
Bullet Blaze you are only saying ficking lies, moron
Woooowww. I...love this new direction they're going in. CTE never left! They always just seem to make albums that hit hard!
Yep I stand corrected. This song is everything to me
Awesome!!!
first cross our bones then zero then this........who's pumped for their new album
Cross our bones was on the deluxe reissue of rotr
+Bret Jackson. my bad........still a good song
if you haven't try weight of the world, I think it's great.
why did i read this sarcasticly lmaooo
Cross our bones ain't gonna be in the new album it's already in the rise of the runaways deluxe edition
dave, come back in CTE :(
I'm here after your today's performance in Warsaw. Love you guys ❤
Thank you for being so great at what you do. I really enjoy your music. Keep it up guys.
one of my fave bands ever! love this song :D xx
The nostalgia
most catchy song ever, damn good
Had to pause for a second so I can laugh at Andy's windmilling at 0:57. Okay I'm ready c':
It's pretty depressing to know that Dave is gone, but I'm honestly wishing the best for both crown and Dave in the future. I'm still hoping they can go back to their roots for the next album considering that this wasn't their strongest work
Everybody talking about Dave and I'm just here waiting to find an explanation on the video?
Interestellar 2
His kid grew up without him. He missed out looking for the answer to life when it was there all along.
Inter
@@realchainrxn yes 👍🏻
He's wearing the space helmet to stop the spread of covid 19
They are just getting better and better
2:13 That bridge sounds very Muse-y to me.
Saw these live... amazing as always and still in love with this video
Love this freaking video! It's weird yet unique. I LOVE UNIQUENESS & WEIRDNESS!!!
why isnt their songs the soundtrack to every fallout game
Ambiance. The timeline of fallout is in the sixties, ergo sixties music is in it.
That wouldn't fit the feeling of the game at all. I do love Crown the Empire, but yeah Fallout is supposed to be more of a 50s/60s vibe.
fallout has 50s music not new music it doesn't go along with the theme
I instantly thought of fallout when the name Retrograde came up
no just no
"Hey this is pretty good"
*Starts screaming in song*
"Ooo never mind"
how i thought too when i was a little younger. now i fuck with screaming alot
Triggered
I didn't even like Breaking Benjamin because I thought it was "to fast and loud" but now I listen to screamo
+Snow Damn straight
funny since some people are pissed there isnt more screaming
This song is lit and stuck in my head!
And now?
@@EduardoSilva-yw7mo Still it is after 2 years 🙌🏻
The entire band looks amazing, the wardrobe choices are so perfect, the dancing's great, and they all look like they're having a lot of fun with the song. That, paired with an amazing video storyline and a kickass song? I really love this! I love their older stuff as well, and I like the new direction they're going in a lot, they're growing as a band and evolving and it's wonderful evolution! The paired vocals give such an interesting quality, too, I like the differences a lot!
Don't know what i love more, the video or the song. Amazing job guys!
Warning: The new album is pop rock, zero is the heaviest song, it is generic radio rock
You're welcome
Haven't i seen you around?
+JJTheWalrusKing dafuq who r u
Adam Rose
Your wildest dream bb
what a real damn shame. I preordered it after I heard zero. either they sold out hardcore or rise forced them to be generic radio rock and caused Ben to leave. this really sucks
+LeDragonborn5555 I'm guessing Benn brought the heavy
New favorite band
this is real fucking music, no fucking popular people heard of, and i would like to nominate this band a grammy for alex's dancing in the background
Yeah, listening to it now reminds me good times when i was happier
Love this song. Honestly could be some futuristic emo song sung by an astronaut communicating with his/her family via hologram.
This is so touchy... I've no words to describe what i'm feeling :)
Who don't really like the song at first and come back to finally fucking love it?
2024 e olha eu aqui, ouvindo essa obra prima, uma das canções que me alegraram em tempos de colegial quando tinha 17 anos❤
All of these reputation debutes and stuff and I think everything crown the empire does is fantastic.
At 0:57, I can literally feel my organs dancing to the beat
this ones got me ugly cryin too wtf my guys.
cant beat this one 3 weeks and I still ugly cry
FR BRUH THIS MY FAV SONG EVER
it feels good to be early, doesn't happen often
from the few songs I've heard from this album, it sound like they've really found their niche. can't wait to buy this record
Wow, this is one of the best videos I've seen in a long time...well done
Going melodic hardcore are you? I can dig it
You've clearly never heard melodic hardcore
+SkylitHorizon Please, enlighten me then.
+Sloane Sher listen to burning down Alaska, counterparts, being as an ocean, or have heart. That is melodic hardcore, it has a very raw sound and softened hardcore instrumentals. This does not sound like melodic hardcore, this is just post hardcore or alt rock.
+SkylitHorizon I do listen to counterparts and being as an ocean
When I made my comment, I was thinking comparatively to what they used to be. They remind me more of architects than the old crown the empire now
I wonder if the movie Interstellar inspired any of this album
That's what I assumed
Definitely reminded me of The Martian lol.
Yes! Hans zimmer is an inspiration as is thrice and Incubus
I was wondering the same thing
+Josh Strock that's whats up!
