- In this episode of Reactions on the Rocks...where we have a drink and watch a fun show...we are reviewing Rick and Morty S3 E10! The president needs help from Rick and Morty, prompting a bit of a confrontation. Beth begins to suspect that she may be a clone. We apologize for the glitchy audio sound in this video, for some reason our recent videos have had this problem, it is not our microphone it is something that is happening during video processing and we are trying to figure it out. We re-processed this video four different times and they all had the same issue and we did not want to deviate from our schedule so we decided to just go ahead and post it.
This video is for commentary and criticism only. It is not a replacement for watching the full episode of Rick and Morty.

Even if this Beth IS a clone, she's a perfect clone of Beth so you won't spot differences in her behaviour.

@@alinadornieden8411 I suppose you could be right. The clone would likely have been designed by Rick to act exactly like Beth. The real Beth would be the one that experiences more character development and is capable of making decisions that would normally be considered out of character.

Why wouldn't you design a clone to be capable of character development or making the same range of decisions?
I don't think you understand what "perfectly identical clone" means.
Dan R I think they mean that they would experience situations different from a clone which would affect her character growth. For example, Beth from “Rick Potion 9” (or whatever that episode was called) vs Doctor Beth (from Inter-dimensional Cable) vs This universes Beth. All Beths act differently and have their own growth as people, clone or not, it’s all a matter of current experience.
Rick cloning Beth while she travels the galaxy would be no different then comparing a Beth in universe A compared to Beth in Universe B
@@burningfox4974 I just wanted to start an argument with the guy who said he could spot it easily. By throwing out a possible scenerio that would assume an out of character Beth is the real one, I was hoping to contradict what he assumed was the tell-tale signs of being a clone.
But you're right, it would be like comparing different Beths. My point was that, if your purpose was to just create a place holder until you get back, ideally you would want to disable character development. You want your clone to behave and make decisions that you would have made before you left. It would be kind of pointless if your clone had major life events that changed their outlook on life and stated making life-changing decisions for you.
Fun fact: season 4 didn’t arrive for like 2 years. Also, get ready for season 4 you will enjoy it.
Also, season 4 took like a 5 month break in between episodes 5 and 6.

This show continues to take shots at fans of this show. When Morty tells Rick " you won't have any fun if you keep over analyzing things"! And whether Beth is a clone or not it's still would be Beth. trying to look for subtle tells isn't going to work. Rick even said if I would make a clone, it would be Beth in every microscopic detail. If he made a clone that is. You're assuming that he did.

When? Rick has always lost it.
Even if this Beth is a clone, as Rick put it, "it's a PERFECT instance of her", all her memories, etc, aka, it IIISSS her. What's the difference? The 'original' body?
Rick's died and cloned himself into new bodies a half a hundred times in the last 3 seasons already, is he not still Rick because the ORIGINAL physical meat sack he was in is gone?? Has he not repeatedly warned against holding to such,.. pedestrian, concepts of self?
Well its mainly about Rick discarding the clone one, because she has no value to him and he can just make new ones. Thats what beth was scared of.
And i think Rick never really cloned himself. In the sense that there is 2 ricks. He only used clones or other versions of him to transfer his mind to replace his body. But Rick is his own deal anyways. He isn't even human for the most part

Here’s the thing about the clone situation, it doesn’t matter, the show is pretty against tv tropes like continuing big storylines and stuff like that, so with this show don’t really expect resolution for every single plot point or story line, you won’t always get what you want!

I don't think Rick would include the clone thing in her memories if he cloned her. The fact she's doubting whether she's a clone or not means she's real to me.
Exactly, especially since we know he can remove memories from morty's mind blowers (which btw he seems to have on him at all times) and that he has failsafes in place with that overwrite of the morty robot in the mad max episode. I honestly can't think of a scenario where rick would be dumb enough to take such an easily preventable risk.

my point is that, if he would have created a clone, he would have erased the clone's memory of the offer, to prevent exactly the kind of situation we saw in this episode, where the clone starts asking questions and he has to hunt it down and deal with it. it's simply a matter of it being a lot easier and less stressful for him in the long run if he'd simply erase her memory, which, as we know, he can easily do and in fact often times does.
none of this has anything to do with rick being a good person however, quiet the contrary actually.
The portal the president use is a reference to minecraft, portals in minecraft works like that

The soldier having to activate the President's portal with a lighter is a reference to Minecraft's Nether portals, which require flint and steel to activate them.
Minecraft is actually a survival game. It does have a creative mode but that's really just for building
This is one of my favourite episodes of the series
In between seasons 3 and 4, they had that short video of Mr. Poopy Butthole, explaining where he was during the last season.
Mr. Poopybutthole is such an amazing side character. I still can’t put my finger on why he makes me fucking laugh so hard. His voice must be it but he kills me

The Vat of Acid Episode (S4E8) is rated higher than both Pickle Rick and S2 finale. It's my favorite, and I cannot wait for you guys to react to it in 8 weeks. It's by far the most emotional episode in the show so far.

I think Rick erased Morty's memory of the squirrels and that was good enough for the squirrels
season 4 was also split in two half’s so after 4x5 we had to wait and the season 4 finale feels like it just happened yesterday so yeah the 2nd half of season 4 is very recent

If you've watched this much Rick and Morty, you should know it doesn't matter if Beth is a clone or not. Dan Harmon just wanted to make a point about how nobody's special and everyone can be replaced. That's always his point.

I describe minecraft as yhe greatest game ever created, that i wouldn't tell you to play. Its extremely simple at its core, and as complex as you make it. I wouldnt twll you not to play it either, but a great example of its simple complexity, is that someone was able to create an in world computer that plays minecraft in monochrome, by using whats refered to in game as redstone circuits... totally unnecessary to know or use, but its a possibility.
The base game of survival takes as long as your creativity can last, and playing it without looking up anything is daunting, and then looking up guides will blow your mind that people came up with some of the systems the players have created.

IMO, compared to the other 3 seasons, the S3 finale is the weakest. Can't wait to see your reactions so S4... a lot of great episodes!
Jerry continues to prove Rick is correct about everything he said about him being a predator who acts like prey.
And yet when Rick said that about Jerry, it wasn't true. It is only afterwards that we the audience get evidence of Rick's claim. It is as if Rick put the suggestion in Jerry's head.

I don’t think you’re quite grasping what a clone is. It wouldn’t act any different than the original, so any personality differences you’re noticing wouldn’t be a factor.
So, if there WAS a clone, identical in every way to Beth, that clone would be just as indecisive about staying or leaving as Beth. The problem would just be doubled!
