This has to be the densest Rick & Morty episode.....and it's amazing.
Crulex
It’s so dense, every single image has so many things going on...
For those that didn't catch it, the episode started with Mortys killing Mortys, then Ricks killing Mortys, then Ricks killing Ricks, and finally with (evil) Morty killing Ricks.
@@richdadsummit7557 Probably because it's not relevant, important or intended...
This is hands down my favorite episode of all Rick and Morty, the writing in this episode with all the different stories happening and the voice acting skill to be talking to yourself the whole time for this ep was incredible!
Kris Waite finally somebody who gets why I like this episode so much and think it’s amazing. Yes the *insert spoiler here* moment was awesome but the sub stories are amazing!
To those of you wondering why they didn't have as big a reaction to the evil Morty reveal, remember that it's only been about 4 months since they saw the previous evil Morty episode so it's still relatively fresh, whereas regular viewers had to wait 3 AND A HALF YEARS between the two episodes. It was a long callback.
This was the first R&M episode that they reacted to since after their winter break. R&M 3x6 was recorded on December 20th, so they were getting back into the swing of things and had a bunch of other shows to record that day.
I call bullshit on that. I began watching Rick and Morty last October and I watch the whole thing in 3 weeks and I indeed was super impressed by the overall development of the episode. Although I had already figured out that it was Evil Morty mid-episode, I still got the chills when the reveal was confirmed and hen that errie song came out.
They eat the cookies because simple Rick has achieved what what they never will be able to achieve: happiness. They need to drain his chemicals because it is forever out of their reach. The ultimate form of jealousy.
Not so much jealousy, but Genius, Since they can have it infinitly without giving up on their toxic yet incredibly powerfull lifes
Best fucking episode of the series. Ive been waiting for this.
I hope the next show that replaces Rick and Morty timeslot is Justice League cartoon.
I don't like this one. Doesn't make any sense for the smartest man in the universe to live in such a fucked up society when they even have the choice not to.
The social critic part is also weird since Ricks are obviously way smarter than Morties so I don't get what they're trying to imply here...
The creators said this episode was written up before "when the world couldn't not be viewed politically" and was just an exercise to see if they could make an episode about the citadel interesting, I think they did a hell of a job
Atharv Sankholkar Not sure what you want me to explain but link the quote here ua-cam.com/video/FU0PrkjZ3IM/v-deo.html
bull fucking shit. politics has existed since human language has, and the themes of 3x7 are simply not apolitical.
There has never been a time where the world could be viewed at non-politically.
@@chrisdawson1776 And therefore there has always been a time it could be viewed non-politically. Because not giving a damn is not a political perspective.
Evil Morty utilized all the Mortys he controlled in the past as refugee crisis in the citadel, fueled discontent on all sides, came as the great equalizer and took over the citadel into an authoritarian regime.
RickdiculousLi he also took advantage of Rick Sanchez C-137’s disassembly of the previous government.
Evil Morty was way back in episode 10 of season 1. When I first watched the episode, I didn't pick up that it was him until the scene where Campaign Manager Morty got sent through the air lock.
Alexander De Jong Detective Rick giving CM Morty the files at the bar, "President" Morty saying he doesn't know his original reality and the air lock scene.
See, I binge watched the show to catch up with Rick and Morty by about the halfway point in season 3 so Evil Morty was still kind of fresh in my mind and I was able to figure out it was Evil Morty when PI Rick gave the campaign manager the photos.
I binged so he was fresh in my mind, but I could see a large gap could lead to it being missed.
"Did i gragitate this time yet?"
HUGE theory that rick and morty are the same person because of this
Is it me or does Evil morties theme song seem to send chills down my spine every time I hear it?
The melody is based on a Chopin Nocturne. Can't remember the opus number. Interesting tidbit.
@@jamesmays9814 It's called For the damaged Coda but I guess it could be based off a nocturne
@@becauseimapotato7599 Yes, the melody of For the Damaged Coda is based off of Chopin's Nocturne Opus 55 Number 1.
Idk why but I get chills every time I watch the ending of this episode. I really hope they pay off that story line of Evil Morty
“I want a taser button on my car!”
“No.”
“ *Yes.* “
The pacing of this is incredible, about 4 stories happening simultaneously, without any one going to too long or too short of a stretch.
*I wish incest porn had a more mainstream appeal... for a friend of mine*
junior20091009 He had a picture of Summer in his locker........ For a friend of his, obviously.
Gets a lot creepier when you realise summer has red hair and looks similar to Jessica
Gets even creepier when you realize that all of his friends are other mortys
I'm kind of shocked they only had 5 or so minutes of discussion on this episode
cbriggs120195 they always have short discussions for rick and morty
Just a man trying to learn Mostly every reaction is at least 20 mins, especially from the last ten or so. You'd think there would be more to discuss with this episode especially. I don't mind too much I guess cause they didn't have much to write being that they seemed super into this episode
@cbriggs120195 This was also the first R&M episode that they recorded after their winter break. R&M 3x6 was recorded and uploaded for me to edit on December 20th, so they were just getting back into the swing of things.
yea wtf? i dont even know if i wanna watch the video? Did they even like the episode?
Also "they always have short discussions" they have had 10min+ discussion to boring episodes.. this episode has alot of things to discuss and compare to real life scenarios
fun fact, BlindWave released Rick and Morty s1e10 reaction (with evil morty reveal) same day that this episode went live
Валентин Жарков
Yup I remember watching their reaction soon after I finished this episode.
that simple memory of Blindwave watching that episode has turned into Simple Blindwave's , capturing awesome Rick and Morty moment to completion, come home to Blindwave on youtube!
Justin was pretty much talking to himself in this episode
The amount of Genius writing and Epicness in just 20 minutes of this episode is what Many Shows and Movies have never been able to achieve in their whole lifetime , And that Last Reveal , holy damn , one of the BEST ENDINGS OF ALL TIME 👏😱👏🔥🔥
I remembered watching this episode "Ricklantis Mixup" while Blindawave just uploaded "Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind" Season 1 of episode 10, the first apperance of Evil Morty but it was in patreon.
Wish I could have seen and hear the full evil morty song/scene in this video. oh well, MERMAID PUSS!
I hope season 4 has an episode where "the one true Morty" and "Evil Morty" potentially face-off.
When they first listed all the episode titles for season 3 this was originally called tales from the citadel, I had wondered why they changed the name.
To fool the viewers into thinking it had something to do with Rick and Atlantia
@@donutlovingwerewolf8837 I too got fooled enough before watching this ep
That whole end scene never fails to give me chills. The music in this series is so on point.
My favorite episode, so well done, it could even be a full movie! Also, that Mass Effect feel when I see ''Tales from the Citadel'' title!
I never really thought about it, but Slick's wish came true.
2021 and it's still the best episode of the series
I almost cried when evil morty took over that was crazy the plot was crazy this has to be my favorite episode
This episode cracks me up because I imagine Justin Rolland voicing this entire episode by himself. He’s just talking to himself all day 😂
This episode is perfection
Best episode in the series so far, from Blonde Redheads "For the damaged coda" soundtrack announcing Evil Morty to the epic "come home to the taste of shattering the grand illusion" wafer tagline.....there's more layers to the "Ricklantis mixup" episode than an Inception sequel. well done!
I've been waiting for you guys to react to this episode for the longest. I love this episode.
Always come back to this reaction, bc this episode was so damn CHILLING
I have waited so long for you guys to do this reaction, I can’t believe the moment is finally here :)
YES! Been waiting for this episode for you guys. I was having a somewhat shitty day and this put a little ray of happiness in there.
It is true though, this episode was like, the definition of what makes this show so good and so entertaining.
"Wanna see how I paint a wall?!" One of my favorite lines in the whole show.
this is the most serious episode of Rick and Morty and Im kinda disappointed in their reaction and in their discussion. I taught they would like it more.
Man-Swine
I had the same reaction as a lot of reactors and I wasn't even being recorded.
cory hawks yeah but blind wave is different they analyze every episode and they understand the structure of the show and they make smart predictions. That's why they guessed it was evil morty and when they found out they were right they weren't like "Oh shit. ahhhhh I can't believe this". They were like "i knew it".
Evil Morty is clearly the original Morty
2:32 Driving through Black Friday
this is still by far the best episode of rick and morty
I subscribed to you guys because I was waiting for you to finally react to this episode.
I've been waiting a long time for this my dudes.
Easily my favourite episode of the whole series
I haven't finished the whole show yet, but this is hands-down my favourite episode so far. Incredible
This is my ABSOLUTE favorite episode of the series!
Great reaction! Such an amazing episode!
Words can't explain how long i've been waiting for this
12:12 It's also like the Tales of Ba Sing Se from Avatar: The Last Airbender, where it goes through a bunch of short sidestories with each of the characters.
I'm not sure if you noticed, but the song that played when all the people were sent into space was the same song that played when Evil Morty was originally introduced.
The first mention of the central finite curve, who would've known
Just watched this episode and I absolutely loved it! Missed the evil Morty first appearance so I was a bit confused but went back to watch and now it makes more sense and just made the episode even better than I already thought!
i loved how shocked calvin and eren looked! This is also my favorite episode. So great
I like how he immediately knew he was evil morty
4 years later and this is still the best episode of Rick and Morty.
Keep up the great work guys!
The one we have been waiting for
I cried at the end of watching this, because it took me back to my childhood when i saw this episode for the first time. The hype around rick and morty s3 and the mystery of the plot still actively unraveling was truly something special.
I get goosebumps everytime I see this episode
I have been waiting for you guys to react to this episode since you guys started reacting to Rick and Morty.
I have been waiting for this reaction.
BEEN WAITING FOR THEM TO WATCH THIS ONE!
This is when they should watch theory videos about evil Morty being our Ricks original Morty.
Cristian Pelaez they dont like film theory. They watched one and just thought it was shit
I’ve been waiting for this episode forever
Honestly this episode felt like a whole movie for some reason
This episode was amazing man
Yes!! Been waiting to see your reaction to this episode! Great fucking ep! You guys rock!
Now that's how you subvert expectations.
With time. Viewers that waited years for Evil Morty's reappearance didn't catch on because it had been so long. Viewers on Netflix, like myself, caught on the moment we saw a Morty running a campaign.
10:38 when I saw those flag goes down I was like "WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! ITS EVIL MORTY!!" (When I saw the file of him in it) "I KNEW IT!! THEY DIDN'T LISTEN TO THAT MORTY!!"
"the blender dimension" as in whirling blades that chop and puree ... it's really fun to go back and watch these reactions
this episode was actually ruined for me by all the hype before I saw it. It's as if people hadn't realized how great a show Rick & Morty is before this episode. I shall now relate what I think motivates Rick ... how very smart he is translates to how very powerful he is and that amount is how much responsibility he has to bear. So-called the smartest man in the universe, in the multi-verse that is a lot of responsibility. He can make and unmake things in such a grand scale as each episode testifies. This means he has to always be on guard and everything is his responsibility alone because he has no equal. In the "toxic" episode he unconsciously thinks his love for Morty is a danger because it makes him vulnerable. In the episode "inside a simulation inside an alien craft" he knew he was in a simulation and so he could safely play with his grandson who was actually a simulation as there would be no consequences and this one time he could let his guard down playing with fake Morty. If it were the real Morty there would be consequences. Rick is a man apart and alone because of his burden. He cannot care about things like a normal human being because power corrupts all it touches. When one is enlightened to such things then a decision must be made what to make of that knowledge and whether it's possible to still belong in the world. This is a little bit of what he wrestles with.
This is a masterpiece!!
This was a 22 minute summary of The Wire and it was brilliant!
1:22 "So we're not gonna follow the Atlantis trip?". I thought the same when I first saw that episode. But then I witnessed the best episode so far
The shock on all of their faces with the policeman’s ball comment! 🤣🤣🤣😂
To this day, that music gives me chills
Best episode for me in all 3 seasons!
last week i read stuff like eric is on holiday. please patreons tell me that he's here for morty's mind blowers (my favorite episode)
By far, the best episode this season, maybe even this entire show!
I'm a simple man. I see someone drinking Irn Bru, I Like.
To this day, this is still my favorite and the best episode.
And now the citadel Rick know which dimension their destroyer is in.
5:50, Detective Calvin, meet your new partner... Detective Eric.
Movie Trailer VO: "Detective Calvin, a loose cannon whose determination gets results. Detective Eric, a half-deaf genius whose by the books demeanor makes him the ideal officer. When they team up, they'll save this town, if they don't kill each other first."
This episode is the best.
this is by far my all time favorite Rick and Morty episode
I would love it if you guys made a video discussing theories of the show, like evil morty and other theories
The greatest episode of the entire series.
The BEST episode of the series.
you guys need to watch mob psycho 100 when you finish rick and morty. I'ts made by the same guy as one punch man
I gotta say it's nice to have a guy that actually has my name for once props guys
Tis episode is my jam.
And people say Season 3 was weak... it had so many great episodes. And I think this is the best of the whole series. Holy shit... I get shivers every time I watch this.
The song at the end was the song from the original Evil Morty episode!
Dope episode.
Best episode so far
This was my favorite episode
This episode was voiced by one guy.
The simple Rick voiceover was a different guy... They credit him but they don't credit the voice of Rick and Morty.. It's a joke the creators did
The only exception was the narrator of the Simple Rick commercial which was Sam Elliot
Also young Beth.
@@Acesarecool4269 It wasn't Sam Elliot. It was Jeff B. Davis channeling Sam Elliot.
No, there were at least 3 other people doing at least one voice. Simple Rick narrator, baby Beth and the robot dog.
