Honestly, "Try Again, Stupid" would have been a way better name for the actual episode. Either that or "Die, Die Again."
Here:
Repeatedly
(always; again) on Wednesdays
That title isn't much better either.
Furthermore they didn't even try to implement the meaning of my favorite phrase "Deja Vu".
"Some day, the wall comes for us all"
- Phelan
My margolye is Leo, for not dying in the previous episode. He returns next season to be nagged by Piper forever.
My carman is Darryl, for standing by Andy even though it will mean abuse by the Charmed Ones for the next 6-7 seasons.
Maybe Rodriguez is becoming more unhinged because he can remember his deaths. Whereas the Charmed ones are so evil their repeated deaths does nothing to their mental health. Truly a master class in character writing. 😜
Well, Tempus told him he will remember all of it, including his death.
Oh my god the timeline where the loop gets interrupted at the second time and Prue fights alone with Paige. The Telekinetic Ones, bouncing off fireballs left and right. Give me that show.
A timeline where Phoebe dies is always the better timeline
Going "Nooo!!" and exploding at the office, that's how I wanna go
😅
What’s hilarious is that when Tempus is fleeing back to the underworld, his flames go over to his crazy duster he took off earlier in the episode and then goes into the fireplace. I guess you need your coat in hell?? Can’t forget that! 🤣
Prue is clearly the carman of the situation between killing Rodriguez at every loop, being angry at Phoebe being happy about someone's misfortune and caring about Andy being accused of murder and panicking over the possible death of her sisters.
I kept wondering why Tempus was talking like getting them all together was a hard thing to do. They all live in the same house
A genuinely good idea wasted on one of the most incompetent demons ever. He never attempts different strategies. He just gets more aggressive each time.
ah yes the lost timeline where piper and phoebe die and its just prue, paige and cole having weekly adventures.
You need to soundboard 'in chess the pawns go first' from X-Men The Land Stand to describe that Phoebe answering the door situation XD
That would actually be a really good sound bit
This podcast makes me so happy
I hope you guys don't get bored doing these, awesome stuff while i'm in my truck for hours. Keep em comming!
Oh yeah, one of my favourite episodes! Thanks for the podcast! :)
Carman: Joanne Hertz. She really got everything she wanted. So successful, so young. The only reason Piper and Phoebe didn't like her was because they were jelly!
Margoyle: The flower vendor. The first timeline flower stolen, the second destroyed and in the third he may have been murdered. That is rough!
Ah yes back when TheSourceOfAllEvil meant something
(also shoutout to Tempus also playing into the season 3 finale, despite not appearing in it)
Love that both this AND Baywatch had a "ludicrous styling on an old high school bully" episode that really seem to unintentionally say an awful lot about writers/audiences in the '90s.
Honestly the only "revenge against old high school bully episode" i find great was that 30 Rock episode where Liz Lemon go back to her prom reunion thinking she was a bullied nerd ready to show them to all her old bullies...
Only for the episode to reveal that she was the bully as she couldn't make a sentence to her classmate without being rude or means
@@samuelvzveddscs1638 THAT is a hilarious subversion of the trope, and I agree wholeheartedly!
Thank you both for not making the same old, lazy, tired jokes about Carradine's death as a certain other UA-cam channel, whose producers seem to have disappeared so far up their own asses recently, they can see the backside of their teeth.
And oh yes, you're absolutely right! Death is barely more than a minor inconvenience in the later seasons of "Charmed". It means about as much as a red traffic light on Askphoebe's way to "work". Way to give the audience something to worry about or someone to root for... Let's turn the protagonists into callous assholes with plot armour, that'll keep people emotionally invested!
So disappointed the Charmed Ones didn't get to clean Tempus's clock.
Always a welcome surprise seeing Charmed Rewind appear on my feed! Phoebe and Piper actually dies in this episode though it's Andy's death that stuck.
Pure on the Swing with Tempus behind Pure on the swing set looks like a cover for a Fleetwood Mac album.
*TIME WILL MAKE FOOLS OF YOU ALL!* shouts Tempus at the Charmed Ones
The show did get far worse over time and the Charmed Ones by extension, so i imagine Tempus was right in a sense
Love how Phoebe described opening the door as being a cannon fodder, because this is exactly what she was 🤣
What a coincidence! I was just marathoning your old Charmed videos when this popped up!
Just what I needed after a long day of work!
And the day was saved mehmehmehmeh
I agree if only they stopped the loop after the second time. We could be talking about a much, much better show.
Seriously though, 12 year old me was absolutely devastated that Andy was killed off. I remember being so heart broken. I think it was the first time I had seen a series regular get killed off.
While I enjoy the schadenfreude of post-Prue Charmed, these early season revisits are still enjoyable thanks to your observations, analysis, and running gags.
the one I really wanna see you cover is the evil male charmed ones in the episode where prue has a crush on a priest and hes half demon but by choosing god he'd be giving up his demon half which was something the show. set up. and i guess never used again for cole
Cole probably would have had to become a priest. Which would never in a million years happen. I mean, come on. In fact I think the only reason that guy wanted to become a priest was because it was the best way to rid him of his evil side.
Ah, and now we're back here. So much drama. So much silliness. And, oh boy, do I miss the days when the sisters had nuanced personalities.
I think the reason Tempest chose a disposable loser for his time loop is precisely because he was disposable. A powerful demon would likely have caused trouble after suffering three or four deaths. A smart weakling, though, can work his way through the puzzle without being a threat to Tempest himself.
I do wish Phoebe's premonitions would make up their mind on whether they show things that should be desperately avoided or things that should be actively pursued.
Glad to know that we missed the timeline where Charmed was about the adventures of Prue and Paige (and maybe Billy latter down the line) just so Piper and Phoebe could live to bore us with their complaining...
Anyway, Any episode where the worst bad witches of San Francisco die ridiculously , however temporarily, is a good episode of Charmed in my opinion
It took a little time to register which episode this was before realizing, "Oh yeah, the one where Andy eats shit." Lol. Can you believe there was a time in my senior year where I had all the titles from the first three years of this stupid show memorized? 🙃
With Andy's death, so goes Daryll's chance at a personality.
Who was your Zargtha for this episode, though? Did anyone in particular stand out for their excellent Yugoslavian lycanthropy?
If only we knew where time loops were most ticklish we may have been able to defeat them 😔
Thx for the video Ms. Allison. I still live the og Charmed the last episode appeared on my birthday back in 2006 on Aug 22, so it has a sentimental value for me. Speaking of exposing their magic you should do a video where there magic could have been exposed through ever season. Like in this episode Piper left the lady frozen what if somebody walked in just a thought
Now I have to watch this all to see if Tempus lives up to his name and runs away! Tempus fugit, and all that.
Andy will presumably not end up as a talking hedgehog.
I'm surprised you didn't know the Deepest Lore™...
The Halliwell House is made from reclaimed wood.
Reclaimed from... *The Death Pier.*
So does that mean *The Death Pier* got blown up in the season 7 finale ?!
Another fan favourite life claimed by the Charmed Ones...
I absolutely can't wait to watch this! I love these so much and have missed them! Again, I am a true Charmed fan but at the same time analyzing and noticing all the fucked up shit during the series is hilarious!!! 😂😂😂
are you guys so happy this is a episode where two of the horrible ones both get to die and prue gets to live on free of them for a quick moment before resets
Funfact: The Charmed wiki also kindly informs us that Rodriguez was the first major battle of the Charmed Ones (More like Prue's first major battle in my opinion) Whatever that means.
Oh well, time to go back in the timeloop and relisten to the podcast, third time the charmed!
I actually liked this episode. But I was sad about Andy. He’s one of my favorite characters on this show.
My favourite podcast returns ❤️
perfect pick honestly. love you guys so much
Allison and PhePhe I love you guys!
It’s nice the Carman was rewarded to the kitty cat for protecting her humans. Does that make her a ‘Car-pet’?
Allison hates Charmed but this guy outright hates it, I think I need to be on the podcast on the next episode to balance things out with my likeability!
Flung wounds gave me a good chuckle.
I liked the episode where Piper and Phoebe were murdered in S7, I think? Paige, run the hell out now is your chance!
Thanks Allison and Phelous, my guiltiest pleasure ep in this excuse show. Funny the Charmed channel (official?) skipped ahead like 20 eps to put up clips of this ep no 22 finale, right after you posted your review, they are watching like David in the pic 😅
Actually, Allison Leo only appears in 7 episodes of Season 1 and the previous episode wasn't the Bucklands arc, that was during episode 10, where the main villains for the first 9 episodes of the season die, and that's because it was supposed to be the original season finale. While Leo was in that episode, it wasn't the moment you were talking about, the previous episode was Leo being shot by a dark lighter, featured Lisa Robin Kelly as their innocent, and where the girls swap powers with one another. I agree that the rich lady at Quake should have been what Phoebe was later on, and didn't become the worst character on the show. I moreso saw Phoebe as a very (bad) version of Cordelia Chase, especially given their similarities in certain areas. She's like the reverse Cordelia, except not entertaining. Phoebe's self-centeredness should have been just she thinks of herself highly and not anything and everything must be about her. I really want to see you guys rip into Phoebe during her Brizilla moment in Season 4 or the Ghost episode in Season 4. Even as a fan of the show, Phoebe is the worst part about it and does drag a lot of scenes down, well later on anyway. I actually find her funny in the earlier seasons. There are actually people who do defend Phoebe and consider Prue the worst sister. Though Phoebe is widely the most disliked sister, and it use to be Paige.
I will say despite me considering Rodregiez the Margoyle, I do like the brief bits of trying to characterize him, don't get me wrong he isn't much of one, but bits such as smelling the flowers, his interrogation scenes and such do at least give a bit more than demons later on.
This is how I would save the episode:
- Have the time loop explore more meaning behind the characters. Instead of repeating the “fender bender” line (which you could keep, it doesn’t matter), focus on the scene with Prue and Andy talking, and every time the scene repeats, have Prue be less guarded with her feelings towards him (which they sort of did, so good on them).
- Add context to Rodriguez. Make and show how powerful he can be. Maybe lower level demons have less deadly powers than upper level- and you can make Rodriguez that and have him act cocky because he knows his powers can fully kill the sisters, regardless of his poor planning.
- Have Tempus threaten the girls by finding another demon to use and leave it open ended for him to return, and also explain why he can’t destroy them himself.
- Rewrite the WHOLE Andy and Prue arc. I wanna see flashbacks between her and Andy walking to school together or playing in the backyard, and context to Andy putting puzzle pieces together about their magic while he’s growing up, because the girls got their memories erased when Grams binded their powers, but Andy remembers all. Show the longevity of their relationship and meaning.
-Raise the stakes. Maybe the 3rd time, Rodriguez tries something differently and Tempus aids him with extra power. Somehow, Andy finds out about this, hence his willingness to get involved because he knows the girls won’t make it. In Prue’s dream, Andy’s spirit tells her that if they reset the day one more time to save him, they won’t make it, and it’s too much of a risk because of Tempus’s plan to strengthen Rodriguez becoming increasingly dangerous. So Prue fights Piper and Phoebe to leave Andy dead, but time is taken in the episode to debate it. Time spent debating shows the sisters actually care.
- After vanquishing Rodriguez, the show leaves a question for the audience to consider. What REALLY is the greater good for the Charmed ones? They lost an innocent but saved a sister. Was this the right choice? Will their lives get any easier? Don’t answer these questions. Let them linger and allow them to grow into continuation. Piper and Phoebe wander back to Andy’s body, but Prue stands there where she just vanquished Rodriguez, all the way across the room. She is heavily sobbing, facing away from her sisters to shield them from the oldest sibling experiencing a breakdown.
Charmed could’ve definitely been good.
Andy wouldn't remember it all. In That 70s Episode we see Grams do a memory wipe on him after saying "Did Piper freeze you again?" I think she probably wiped his mind regularly if they all grew up together.
I never understood why it was needed to kill all 3. One, or even better two, would break the power of three.
Maybe the power of three is really just a power that keep bringing them back as long as one sister lives...except if one of the actress leave the show in bad terms of course.
See, I read them saying that the food network woman was a 'freak' as them trying to say she was a whore without saying she was a whore, because that's usually what gets thrown out there by writers. They say she slept her way to her position of success. But I imagine they didn't want to say that on tv, so they say she's a freak, which I interpreted as them saying she's a freak in bed, which was as close to non-pg as they could get. Because otherwise, that statement makes no sense, unless the idea is that it's freakish to be successful, which is what they want? idk. that line makes no sense unless they're calling into question her private actions, which is what most lowbrow writers would have done in that situation.
if the time loop had never reset then season 2 would have started with prue, piper and paige for 7 seasons. might have been a better show. and phoebe would have died while her character was still likeable.
aw my boyfriend cop died. bummer :( well anyway
Oh, the season finale with the very famous guy here.
Tempus really has a presence compared to evil Mc Stupid beard.
I mean the first source of all evil.
To be fair, melty face was a replacement actor for the first source. The guy they had playing the source in season 3 actually did have presence.
@@kamui003 Fun fact you may know: that was Michael Bailey Smith as the Source in season 3. He played Shax and Balthazar and a Grimlock.
@@AndreAsunte I never understood why he seemed to vanish suddenly.
sigh, The halliwell shenanigans continues!
Any chance you're gonna do a video review series of the new series like the original Charmed? Those are some of my favorite video of yours AND the beginning of "the spinster voice." First for Phobe, then Stephanie in Baywatching, and now the evil Janeway! Myeh myeh myeh myeh myeeeeeehhh!
@Movienights Lupa, you and Phelous should write a “classic” charmed episode, with a cameo from wabuu maybe? And have someone animate it, maybe motion comic style???! ❤️😅
"The Charmed Ones are soooooo stupid! Eh heh heh heh!"
Strategically, this episode makes no sense. Why rewind time to kill all three, when you killed one. Killing Phoebe accomplished two things; it eliminated the power of three, and it removed the barrier of a witch who could foresee attacks coming. Before rewinding time, The source simply had 2 witches, albeit powerful witches, but witches none the less. Until they find Paige, but this is season 1. So here's what should happen. First, separate Prue and Piper somehow, their powers work too well together. Next, We need to work around Piper's freezing, so we need to attack her when she's distracted; send a demon with the power of cloning, or gensis like the Kazi king or Swarm king, send in a couple of demons to attack from the front, she will freeze them and be distracted, shimmer in from behind her and stab her, covering her mouth so she can't call for Leo. Piper and Phoebe are now dead. Leo will have sensed this death and Prue will now be on high alert, so don't make any moves now, give it a few months, let them grieve and slowly their guard will be down. Now you have one witch and her whitelighter, you have bypassed premonitions giving your plans away and a witch stopping time to give the charmed ones the upper hand. However, we still have to work around Leo's orbing and Prue's telekinesis. Send demons to France to attack Leo's charge there, he will orb in to help her, leaving Prue alone. Prue's telekinesis relies on sight and focus, send in grimlocks to take away her sight. She's dealt with grimlocks before, so you have to be swift and waste no time (ironically one of the ingredients for a grimlock vanquishing potion). With her blinded and her telekinesis weakened, go in for the final kill. Now all the charmed ones are dead. Except for Paige, but she's likely still in college and doesn't know about her powers; just hit her with a car.
So the cops knew internal affairs were seeing them up?!
Keep these coming. 😆 🤣 😂 😹
now i just picture if the second timeline had ended... that they'd still need a power of three.. so i guess in that case patty would have twins she gave up. paige and a 5th sister. maybe could have named her penny after grams. i mean if it was up to me the perfect timeline would be prue, paige, and macy as the charmed ones. sure they'd all have telekinetic powers but they could use spells or potions for other things. xD
Time loop charmed addition. Is it really that hard to kill the charmed ones?
Well killing them isn't that difficult, every Halliwell sisters died like ten times over the course of the show.
The tricky part is making sure they stay dead.
Ah, The Halcyon days of Season 1 where the Charmed Ones still cared...
i still don't get why he kept attacking them together where they're strongest together and at the house with the nexus making them stroger. they were separated many times. piper at quake. prue talking to andy. could have tried taking them out separately. but he kept doing the exact same thing. rodriguez was written stupidly for a premise of time travel. any other demon they'd probably all be dead.
Yeah love when you guys hate watch charmed. I hope when we get a charmed do over with guys......you will cover it.
Hum, A review of an episode where an Andy died, so soon after Allison and Phelous got bored to death by Andy the Always Talking Hedgehog?
What an odd coincidence...
like this this episode
Should have called it Quisp instead of Quake…
Yoshikage Rodriguez is one of the worst Charmed Ones Bizarre Adventure villains
Wooo🥳
XD
Hi 👋
Eyy
Yes, the original script of Groundhog Day called for Bill Murray's character to have been trapped in the time loop for 10,000 years, by his voodoo-using vengeful ex-girlfriend.
The only reason Darryl survived as long as he did was because the show needed a token black character.
I hate how that's probably true, considering how he's always there but is barely allowed to have a personality.
