It`s unbelievable, there are a sure lot of documentarys - and so on - about the world, countries, special places ......But the way you do it, bring it to me - and I think to many other people - is unique. That dirt road is amazing! Good ol' ABS, great on the street...not so much off road. Same for traction control. Even though the dirt road was short, it still looked like a good time. See you next week. Ride Safe!

Have been there, is really magic... My suggestion: not far from Wadi Bani Awf, there is also the Yasib road one of the most challening track in Oman. And I suggest also the Salma Plateau crossing, you will be delighted ;-)
You should have stopped to visit the beautiful mountain village of Bilal Sayt, the village was on your path. It’s a lush green village with magnificent views. Maybe next time , it’s definitely worth the visit.
Yes, we regret that too! But we thought there would be so much more difficult road in front of us, so we didn’t want to make a detour. Very sad because the road was so nice then!!

What a landscape. Indeed the views are awesome. I’ve seen a lot of mountains in France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Norway but this is different. It’s raw, untamed. I remember a mountain near Geiranger. The road to the top, where there was a viewing point, was covered in gravel. It was like riding on ball bearings. Down hill was a bit scary although I drove a car.

spectacular views loved the drown shots through the canyon , can you briefly explain the difference from regular driving to off road mood . thank you LEA nice nice to bad the castle was closed ...... bummer .
As you might know I am not that good with all technical and mechanical things, so I hope someone will correct me or add if I forgot something important: main difference is that in the off-road mode you have non of the „controlling“ electronic helpers on that you normally use on road riding like traction control or your abs. If you break hard or on something slippery the abs and traction control would help that your wheels don’t lock if you break hard, which normally can easily lead to losing control of your vehicle on paved roads. But off-road you don’t want these things - because due to the ground your wheels lose traction all the time, and when you use the brakes and for example slide a little you want that, but you literally don’t want your brakes to be unlocked because the abs thinks you are doing dangerous braking. So off-road these electronically things kick in all the time and way too often and you either lose power which can be dangerous in steep parts going up where you need it, or your brakes unlock in situations you actually need them, so it can be very dangerous to keep those on when riding off-road.
@@Got2Go very good explanation I totally understood , I have ABS ,traction control on my big Harley but never turn it off it never see's off road , I remember my dirt riding days you need to be in control not a computer . thanks LEA
Was ein tolles Video!

I think it took me much longer than you, I think about 15 minutes until I stopped again because I was so scared - I was just looking on the steep road and trying not to slip away! 😅😂
Beautiful video for sure! That road was incredibly steep! Even on the GoPro! Not for me , I am not fond of roads with drop offs into the abyss! Very pretty scenery. Best!

Thanks for another great video, a brilliant series. I did Wadi Bani Awf when I was living in Oman ten year’s ago in a 4x4 and that wasn’t easy! The GoPro doesn’t do it justice!!
About 27 years ago I went up Bani Awf and Wadi Hanish and went swimming down through the lovely cool waters. A year later another group did the same trip, there was a flash flood and about 15 people died. A beautiful place but be cautious. I did the trip in my 1978 Range Rover, in two years of wadi bashing it was unbeatable, the old thing towed lots of supposedly superior modern Japanese 4x4 s. Paid £850 for it, sadly she would be worth about £30 000 today. What a wonderful country Oman is. Many incredibly memories.
No it’s so strange, all steep videos on go pros always look completly flat! And I mean these parts in the beginning are really steep! I even find that some parts later on look much steeper than the very steep parts in the beginning 😂
That’s true - it actually happens to me often because European bikes (this Yamaha came from Germany) go back to normal road mode if you turn them off - so they never stay in the mode you put them in. I think it’s actually quite dangerous because if I stop only to take a picture for a minute I forget that it went off in 80 percent of all cases… 😅
i agree, dont think there are off roads streets as steep as that one in Europe! you did it downhill!! that's insane!!! I drove it up-hill (not fully understanding what i was driving into) and i was scared and excited at the same time. cannot imagine what would have been like going down some of those walls. well done! hugs from Italy
Thank you so much! Actually as soon as I had turned the off-road mode on, it was not so bad anymore at all! It was a bit scary because it was just so much more steep than I was used to, but very doable (somehow I would not like to ride it up though, especially if you meet a car or someone else 🤯)
good nice here in tunisia we have a mountain road just oof the motor and will go to top wihout acceleration is just 10 meter it is a magnet mountain area
Oh my god forgetting to reset the off-road after turning off the bike happens to me so often. The ABS kicks in far too early in areas of loose traction. I wish there was a setting to make it remember.
Spectacular views of Oman, thank you for sharing. Many of the roads remind me of riding in Peru (mix of Oman with the Himalayas, I'd say). It seems from your world trip that you have some unfinished business in Peru, so I strongly recommend you explore that country at some point in the future. You will not be disappointed!
