United's Ultra Long-Haul service is a test of endurance, strength, and willingness to sleep anywhere and on anything. Join me on this trek across the Pacific onboard United's 2nd longest flight (standing at around 17 hours), to the home of Crazy Rich Asians.

Even though the seat was uncomfortable for sleeping, the plane took you to your destination quickly and safely which is the most important thing.
Yup that’s the most important thing!
Many years ago gentleman with AA told us in a speech that the #1 goal for AA was once the plane left the ground all that really matter was for it to return to the earth safely. Always thought it was a good goal to put up as #1 for all airlines.
funny thing is, im going to singapore for the summer and this video is the exact airline, exact departure time, exact plane, and exact route that im doing!
In both SFO and SIN:
Even when the B787 aircraft is at the gate with 2 jetbridges, only one jetbridge is used. For both passenger loading and unloading, only jetbridge B is used, Jetbridge A remains unused.
Ah yes, my favorite concourse at SFO and in the US for that matter..it portends a wonderful adventure and I was always very happy seeing a 747 at the gate 🙏🏻👍🏻✌🏻✈️
Thank you very much for showing this video.
amazing stufff bro
Very nice Montgomery Escalators!! One of the Walks were undergoing Inspection by ThyssenKrupp!! Just like typical Denver which they have TKE, they break a lot, & United is one of the hubs there lmao. United's a good Airline!!
United has the best 787 interior, even after the new Polaris was put on the 787s (starting with the 787-10s, which got them directly on delivery)
This one still had the old style Continental BusinessFirst seats despite being a young aircraft. Also I love the 787-10. Fast, efficient, comfortable people hauler with all the bells and whistles.
Such a long flight. I don't think I could fly it nonstop, even on a 787. Nice and detailed video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I barely survived 8 hours and 30 minutes of flying in Econ on an Alitalia 777. And couldn’t handle the dreadful Alitalia A330 Econ seats for 8 hours. Can’t be sure what the United 787 series are like in Econ.
Love love love the music while reading the literature and movies searching after dinner 👍
Wow! I have not flown long-haul for over 8 years and back then I was a little kid so legroom was no issue for me! Now, I'm wondering how I will cope with long-haul now that I'm 6 feet tall and an adult haha. Great report mate. Cheerio
Thanks for watching! Definitely a tight fit into those seats, but doable!
great review! i have flown out of SFO countless times including with United and I think it's a shame that their new "slimline" seats are just not as good as some other airlines
Great video. Nice converage. Hope you enjoyed
Thanks for watching!
Outstanding trip report. I love UA's 787s, the cabin is modern and has beautiful moodlighting. However, I also find it hard to sleep because of the slim seats.
Any tips for sleeping?
@@Ross-117 two pills of melatonin and a glass of wine should do the trick.
When I heard the crying child at the beginning of the video I feared for your sanity, but it appears that the child settled down for the night. The food service did not impress me, and I'm sure some of the Asian airlines do better. The IFE looked good. Altogether, a long economy flight that was endurable but not enjoyable.
9:10 the baby triggered my fight or flight response lol, i’ve been on way too many flights with screaming children
Truly awesome review
Thanks!
Fun fact, I flown Philippine Airlines A350 going to YYZ to MNL, and landed at MNL 4:30AM in the morning 2 days later lol. However, the inflight map is not working :(
food looked bussin good! ua on the stremf!
Lol your flight UA1 is basically racing SQ33 non stop to Singapore! Both aircraft push back at the same time. A350 v B787
Nice trip report
Thanks a lot!
Great report was just considering if I should use United between Washington & Cape Town almost same flight time, or use another carrier and change 🤔 great review thanks
Thanks for watching!
Just realized the gates at SFO got renumbered since this video. Wonder what gate G92 is now numbered? Still terminal G but low gate numbers.
G92 = G1 now.
16 hours in coach - I don't know if I could do it! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! Definitely an experience!
Are they called “slimline” seats
Not sure if that’s the technical term, but that’s the style of seat that most airlines are moving to these days
Wow awesome trip report, very detailed too, how was it spending over 16 hours on a flight, I'm thinking of taking SQ21 or QR921 once we are allowed to fly!
It wasn't too bad! I think the best thing you can do is try to plan your sleep on the flight according to the the time zone in your final destination. In my case, I watched some movies for the first few hours until I was feeling especially sleep deprived, and then tried to rest for the last 10 or so hours
@@WillAviation thanks for the tip!
Porto as the cover of the Hemispheres magazine 🥰
Thank you for sharing the experience. I’ve booked a flight from Singapore non stop to San Francisco next month. So am a little worried about the turbulence you mentioned. How often does it happen?
To be honest, I’ve only done this flight once so I can’t speak to how often it occurs, but turbulence on trans-Pacific flights is fairly common (and very normal!); nothing to worry about at all
Even when the United Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft is parked at the gate with 2 jetbridges, the gate SHOULD use BOTH jetbridges for passenger loading and unloading to ease the passenger traffic for both boarding and deplaning processes.
9:05 That kid would have driven me to drink heavily!
Id say its a nice video 😀 can u flight next with Kenya Airways or Air France
I have a review of Air France on my channel already! Maybe I’ll try Kenya Airways when I can fly again :)
@@WillAviation Thanks :)
Nothing worse than the children on these flights. It’s really torture to do that to a young child.
One of my favorites route to South East Asia via Singapore! Can’t wait to fly again once the pandemic is over 😎
Interesting that they do Chinese announcements on the Singapore flight
Great video! And what’s the name of movie you were watching at 22:26 ? Thanks!
Thanks! The movie was Crazy Rich Asians!
@@WillAviation Thank you so much !
@@WillAviation Thank you so much !
9:15, "flight time tonight is gonna be" *AAAAAA* "16 hours and 10 minutes" *AAAAAAAAA*
May i ask when this video was taken because it does not look recent with things are still closed plus this is why i'm up behind first class where i don't hear the crying kids
May 2019!
Another crying adult.
Do you know another plane Air Canada almost crashed into the plane, while the other runway was closed
This plane was almost destroyed by a flying A320😂
But cool vid
How would you rate this flight on the scale of 1-10? What could be improved on this flight?
Probably a solid 7. It’s a good flight, on a good aircraft, but in comparison to what some Asian carriers offer in Economy, there is a big difference. The biggest improvement in my opinion would be seat comfort. There was very little recline, and the seats weren’t terribly comfortable
@@WillAviation, what could be some other improvements of this flights?
How did you survive with that 3 inch recline my friend. Cant you believe that same plane will be heading to Singapore. Feel sorry for economy class passengers
It is a long time to spend in a small space!
Herod where are you ?
Was this taken before all the virus outbreak?
Yes! May last year
Me and that kid going to have problems lol.
nope nope nope....I wouldn't endure that for 16:10
How did you survive those children?
The kid in front was actually really well-behaved! Pretty impressive for 17 hours in one place!
U got what u paid for. If u wanted more than purchase a first class seat
They should make separate flights just for people with children.
Do foreign visitors allow to Singapore for short stay? I see many people don't wear masks stand close to each other. It is total crazy. It is unacceptable for serve food without a tray.
This was taken last year! Pre-Covid and social distancing :)
Uncomfortable seats for a 17 hour flight? Unacceptable imo
17 hours on United? Why would you put yourself through that? Should have flown Singapore Airlines instead.
Cost was why I put myself through this; $590 USD roundtrip from Toronto to Singapore
WillAviation fair SQ is typically always more expensive to fly with
This flight was before the pandemic.
Here's a tip. NEVER fly a US carrier if you fly internationally.
i second this comment
