Hi Sean , looks as though you had a bit of altitude sickness there . Mt Tiede is quite high , just over 12,000 feet, so the air pressure is much lower than at sea level and consequently there is significantly less oxygen to breathe. Feeling sick , dizziness and blurred vision are common symptoms. That's why your bag of crisps was so inflated. It was an airtight bag packed at sea-level so the air inside was at a higher pressure than the ambient air at 12,000 feet. Also as water boils at a lower temperature when the air pressure is lower it doesn't reach the 100 degrees needed to "mash" the tea. Hence the cup of warm dishwater you got at the cafe on the volcano. Hope you felt better after a good nights sleep at sea level. You might well have picked up that virus that's been bothering you on the aeroplane ... 4 hours sitting in a 4 metre diameter sealed aluminium tube sharing air and germs with 200 other people 😂 Try to get an N95 grade surgical mask from a farmacia for the trip home (Mascarilla tapabocas quirúrgica N95) ... be a shame to get home with a flu bug.
Exactly - also, there are not enough red blood cells in the body, if you usually live at low elevation, to allow for extra oxygen gathering and distribution to the body, needed at higher altitudes. After living at high altitude for a few months, the body produces more red blood cells to boost the distribution output of oxygen. An athelete that trains at altitude, for example, will have extra energy for competition at lower altitudes, due to the extra red blood cells they have. And, it doesn't matter what age or body type for altitude sickness effects. I have heard of young, apparently fit, persons being overcome with it, even dying. And, if you have heart issues, you should avoid going up altitude, because of the lower oxygen and extra strain put on the cardiovascular system. PV=nrT (pressure, volume, temperature). As, pressure goes down at altitude, volume goes up (crisp packet air inflation) to accomodate the equation - and, temperature goes down, to also accomodate the equation relations. This rule has effect on the vessels of the the body, allow them to inflate at altitude, affecting the brain, the heart, etc. - everything, really. That is why the airplane cabin is "pressurized".
@@EnglishFlorals yes, there is a whole different way of cooking, here (I'm sitting at 1900 m & the 3658 m mountain peak is just to my west), at altitude :) And, it takes longer to heat things up. At high elevations, the decreased atmospheric pressure can cause your baked items to over-rise and then collapse. To combat this, one must reduce leavening agents. Baking temperatures need to be increased. Pressure goes down~Temperature must go up PV=nrT (pressure, volume, temperature). ☺ Please excuse my Scientific enthusiasm. That's my training. I love it!
Aww poor you not getting to the top. The air is incredibly thin and I was a lot younger when I went to the top but did struggle even in my youth. So many people have had heart attacks trying to get to the top to have a jacket pots cooked in the volcano! I was gasping when I got to the top! They were filming planet of the apes there. On a positive note your jacket is fabulous! Looks great on you. Please take care and look after yourself Sean. Good luck bless you. Sending healing hugs Xx❤
Glad you are feeling better Sean. Altitude sickness is no joke. Going from sea level to an altitude of 12,188 feet will give you altitude sickness. Symptoms are nausea, headache, fatigue, dizziness, pounding heart, shortness of breath. Best thing to do is drink loads of water and go lower. I had it first time I went from sea level to 7,522 feet in Rocky Mountains. It took me a few hours to feel good again. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Four our honeymoon, my ex and I went to Italy, and we went right down inside Mount Vesuvius - it was amazing. This was in April 1983, I wonder if you can still do that today - the guide we had, fried an egg on the stones there, to show us how hot it was, and there was nothing then to stop us falling over the edge into the volcano! I am so sorry that you felt so unwell when you got to your volcano, and that tea looked revolting! Thank goodness your lovely friend was driving. It is so good that you sent us this video at all, feeling as you do, so thank you, and wishing you better. Blessings from a grey West Devon today, and Jilly & Madge. xxx
Hi Sean, hope you're feeling better now probably was the altitude bless you! Thank you for showing what you did - I enjoyed the views. 🙂 Yep, I'm not a fan of Camomile tea either with you on that one. Take care and hope you're okay now. 👍🏻
Reading Wikipedia, the car park is already at 1km higher altitude than Ben Nevis so you already got pretty high. I spent a few years of my younger life on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, which isn’t quite so high but has a very active volcano and the Tenerife landscape is quite reminiscent at the various altitudes, I think you have done another great job at advertising it.
Hi Sean i was up Mount Tiede in October. Its Very high up there. My ears popped in the cabke car going up. And i had a headache afterwards for the rest if that day. The air is too thin. So thin. You got altitude sickness. Hope you are feeling better by tomorrow with that and with the virus too .
Every time I use to go on holiday I fell sick in one way or another usually, so I just chill out in my own surroundings nowadays, there’s nowhere in particular I want to go anyway, I find it all too stressful. Hope you have a speedy recovery & I can’t wait till you get back home to Blighty, this place just isn’t the same as beautiful Wales 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧
Can you save the empty tea calendar and next year put your own teabags on it? Then you can enjoy it and not spend money for some other one. Vomit to get a refund? That's quite a thing. Probably the best for your health to avoid extreme adventures now.
So sorry you missed out on the volcano Sean, I was going to mention the tunnel experience you had and you beat me to it, they are not for you, you have a cold and croaky throat too, so it could be that as well. The facilities at that hotel are amazing. Take care and hope your better soon!!
What an early hour to get up for the drive up to the volcano! I loved seeing the landscape in the National Park, I love mountains! It was hard to enjoy later on seeing how badly you felt! You gave it a good go so don't worry. Take care of your health!
The refund for the vomit story made me laugh so much. It’s a good thing you didn’t go all the way up to the top. You looked a little peaked 🤢 until you got down to a lower elevation. Mount Teide used to be considered the tallest mountain in the world, early in European exploration. At 12,000 feet over sea level, it certainly looks tall from a ship on the ocean.
Sad to see you struggling like that. I guess the entire holiday is a bit of a shock to the system and is leaving you weak and susceptible to all sorts of illnesses - the radically different climate from south Wales, the flights and lots of car travel, the busy days of activity, foreign food, higher altitudes, and just all-round stress, anxiety and worry. You may find it a relief to back home with a nice cup-a-tea 👍.
Been up there Sean. They do jacket potatoes on the volcano apparently. They filmed planet of the apes at that location. Yeah it’s rather high up. Hope you’re feeling better now.
You poor thing, not nice altitude sickness. That was as far as I got up Mt Tiede too. A nice cup of tea later did the trick then. Hope tomorrow is a much better day. Take it easy. 🐞
Brilliant timing with the vomiting, thank goodness you got your $$ back. Maybe some more hot tub time will help and doing things that allow time for breakfast first... ❤❤❤❤❤
Low blood sugar can make you feel really unwell. Maybe don’t skip breakfast again and it would be worth getting a blood test when you get back if you haven’t had one recently.
That chamomile tea might have been a good thing for getting past the sickness. I had some lightly brewed as a 1950s baby, apparently for medicinal purposes. I don't know if that was on advice of doctor or some wives' tale witchcraft thing. But even now I sip that stuff when I'm under the weather.
Spectacular views but it seems bleak to me. Pity you missed out on the cable car and volcano, I've been in the cable car at Matlock that was high enough for me😂. I'm sat here watching the tea tasting and you said day 12, day 12 what about the breakfast tea 😂 then i realised I'd missed 1 out. When do you come home? Is it the weekend . Hope you're feeling better now x 😊
Sorry to hear that you got sick. altitude sickness is a lot like being car sick (Me) dizzy, blurry vision. Not fun. You will feel better in the morning. Sleep is the only thing that helps.
When we visited Teide years ago, my son was affected by the altitude and was physically sick. People were lying on the ground as they had also been affected. It’s 3715 metres so no wonder.
Wow, are you sure you are in Tenerife? It looks like parts of Arizona or New Mexico. Such a bleak topography. I struggle with elevations above 8000 feet. Hope you feel better soon.
What was that a rock volcano tea? 😅 No I don't think I would try it. I like your jacket! I also don't like heights or cable cars. So Id rather be in the pool as well. I hope you feel better 💟
Gosh! Sorry to see you became sick with the altitude Sean, thank you for carrying and making a Vlog. My old mum used to say… “Love to go away but, there is nothing better than your own home and a nice cup of tea”. Mums know best. ❤ J&J two old farts over here in Lincolnshire😊
Hope you are feeling better now, what a way to get a refund. To be sick and show them, wouldn't like her job.😂😂 Hope tomorrow will be a better one for you..
So sorry you got ill out in Tenerife ! That tea was insipid 🤢even feeling well . Bet you just wanted your welsh cottage and your cats on your lap 😊hope your better now . Enjoy your Christmas 🎄 ❤🇦🇺
Afternoon Sean The music fitted the mood after your volcano trip was cut short, so sorry you and your friend missed out, like you said it may have been the fact you didn't have breakfast, but you were probably wise not to go any further. That was extremely dodgy having to be sick to get a refund 😳 at least you've got a new coat and hat to wear when you get off the plane at Bristol, I think you're going to need it 🙄 Hopefully you will find an excursion on ground level that you will enjoy for the remainder of your holiday Feel better soon and take care Sean 💜
Oh my. I was watching thinking I wud always prefer the gardens & flowers over the barren landscape near a volcano. I havent been abroad in nearly 20 years as I get anxious travelling. However, as I watched a memory came back & it dawned on me that Ive been there - I think, not up it but parked up on the lower ground. Think it was in a hire car as I've no recall of it being a coach trip. What a day u had but u got a new coat & hat out of the jaunt (which later u may learn to luv; puffer looks warm & hat suits u).
Sorry your not feeling so sharp...bless you for still putting out a video.....Its kinda funny how people cant wait to go on a trip and after they are there they miss home...I hear that a lot...You were probably lucky to miss the storm at home...The volcano was still interesting scenery....Hope you're feeling better soon...chamomile tea is supposed to be calming it might help you sleep...
Hope you feel better soon Sean, see Wales is not so bad after all despite the Grey skies and freezing cold. Bless you. Take good care. From the Ebbw Valley.
Sorry the trip up the mountain made you feel so sick. The views were spectacular. So desolate the nearer you got to the volcano but lush in the lower fields. Definately like being in a different land. Hope you feel better after a good meal and a decent nights sleep ❤
You didn’t miss much. Especially for that price! I took the trip to Mt Tiede. I went up there several years ago, end of May. Scorching at ground level but freezing with snow on top. It was alright but not £98s worth. It was much cheaper when I did it.
Definitely Altitude Sickness, you go from sea level to 12,000ft in one go. That's crazy. You need at least 1 to 2 hrs to let yr body to acclimatise to the altitude, never alone the winter cold. Get well soon you silly sausage!
Def altitude and your cold, probably dehydration too… shame Sean but I know how that feels and I can sympathise with you,, better out than in 😅… enjoy the rest of your lovely break and yes that tea looked like… well I won’t say but you get my drift😅
That's more like the Tenerife I remember the moon like almost barren landscape... I got terrible altitude sickness driving up a bit the mountain 🏔️ I couldn't wait to get down due to the nausea x
Sorry your not feeling better hopefully the rest of your holiday you can just chill by the pool and recuperate. It was spectacular scenery though in the mountains but bleak and you have a souvenir a new jacket and hat for the allotment 👍
That tea at the mountain cafe looks like nats pee. It's a pity your not feeling well. You will be glad to see green hills and clean Welsh air. Your missing topsy and amber.
Oh yeah, I can’t travel no higher than 11,000 feet high, because I have trouble breathing. So I stay away from high places. Actually, my preferred Altitude is to live at 2,000 feet, but I realized that after I moved to 6,000 feet in Montana USA. Now you know to stay away from high altitude. Even when I am on a road trip, I always try to take the low altitude roads, even if it’s a little longer to get to my destination. I’m sure home is sounding sweet and comfy about now, right Sean?
I didn’t make it to the top either. My late husband had a heart condition, and the altitude made him light headed, and nauseous. When we dropped down the mountain he was fine. I’m sure your cold isn’t helping.
Camomile is good for settling tummies unless you need to be on the low FODMaP diet. It seems to be full of Fermentable, Oligosaccerides, Di-saccerides, Monosaccerides and Polyols.
You might have been sick as you were leaving home, but I’m betting you caught something on the plane. Air is often recirculated on planes that allow germs to recirculate too. You are good to put up any video at all. From too hot to too cold just can’t be good. Do whatever feels good to you right now.
I think it was Alan Bennett who said that he liked visiting new places as long as he was back for tea. I often follow that philosophy.
Yeah I am a bit like that too ha ha

Interesting information. I have heard of pizza restaurants in Colorado having problems with their dough because of the altitude.
Interesting! 👏

Sorry you aren’t feeling too good Sean but your drive through the barren lava fields was my favourite trip so far. Hope you feel better soon.

Right. Stay away from Mt Kilimanjaro, an acquaintance did not make it back home.
Sounds like altitude sickness the crisp bag will have blown up due to this as well take care Sean😊

The sauna looks lovely on account of there being nobody else there. Yay. Interesting day. Take it easy.
Feel better soon

It looks like no man's land.
Reminds me of the drive to las vegas from burbank california
Like driving through parts of Utah.
I was thinking it looked alot like the Nevada deserts
Enjoyed video and hope you feel better soon
You can really get sick with high altitudes, I am sorry you went through that. You may need a vacation from your vacation! Take care Sean.
That scenery is like nothing I've ever seen
Sorry you got sick on your vacation. The area around the volcano reminded me of Craters of the Moon National park here in the U.S.
Brilliant timing with the vomiting, thank goodness you got your $$ back. Maybe some more hot tub time will help and doing things that allow time for breakfast first...

What a God forsaken place, can't wait for you to get back to the lush greenness of UK.
Lush?? More like down and out UK
'there it is, fill your boots' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Take it easy Sean it's the best you tube channel going love your honesty it's rare these days ❤
Bora Da Sean Did you know Mt TEIDI Was where they filmed Planet of he Apes the original one

I got altitude sickness at that volcano too.
Most of the volcano is down on the beach anyway! Lovely video though. Great.
I hope you are feeling better now . Take it easy .
I.
Don't mean to make light of you.Not feeling well but i've heard of movie on demand but not vomit On demand. At least you got your money back 😢
Just a question, why buy tea that you not foung to drink and enjoy. Waste of money hey?
How do you know if you don't like it until you try it.
Sorry you missed out today sean but I bet it affects a lot of people the same way but hopefully you will be as right as rain tomorrow. Take care ❤
🦠🦠🦠 begone 🤞🤞🤞🙂
It looks more like green tea
Hope you feel much better Sean. Some things are best left to others. The scenery was brilliant. Never knew this place existed. Rest up well.
The landscape doesn’t come across very well, it’s unreal up there! No wonder Elon wants to go to Mars 🤣
I was so pleased to be watching this video and not actually there. Home is the place to be when feeling unwell.
'Refund ONLY IF...We see Vomit...🤮..??? Sean 🤢🤮 🤓 Heres Your money Back. 🤣🤣🤣😂
Yeah, it sounds like the altitude. I remember going up that volcano and feeling a bit sick,
Nice 🎉
I’m sorry you’re sick, dear Sean. 😢
Oh dear, you do sound full of it. Hope you feel better soon.
Hope you feel better soon Sean, see Wales is not so bad after all despite the Grey skies and freezing cold. Bless you. Take good care. From the Ebbw Valley.

10/10 for effort, fantastic scenery though 👍
Sorry to hear you are not feeling well, you might have overdone it, then I heard you say you hadn't had breakfast. You need a decent cup of tea xx

Having seen UA-cam videos of what is up there, I agree with you.
It seems like a desolate area. Maybe a different time of year would be prettier. Have you tested for Covid?
Sean you need some honey or sugar in your teas .They all taste rank without some sweetness.
Yeah, I find a lot of teas just taste like wet hay. But with a little sugar, they can be so much better. Lemon juice is good, also.
Definitely Altitude Sickness, you go from sea level to 12,000ft in one go. That's crazy. You need at least 1 to 2 hrs to let yr body to acclimatise to the altitude, never alone the winter cold. Get well soon you silly sausage!

Well it wouldn’t be on a volcano. 🤣
I really thought you and the volcano were going to spew in unison! 🌋🤮
Hope you get better soon
I didn’t make it to the top either. My late husband had a heart condition, and the altitude made him light headed, and nauseous. When we dropped down the mountain he was fine. I’m sure your cold isn’t helping.
Camomile is good for settling tummies unless you need to be on the low FODMaP diet. It seems to be full of Fermentable, Oligosaccerides, Di-saccerides, Monosaccerides and Polyols.
Never seems real,but the ones I've seen,are all. Craggy,smelly places,but I'm still fascinated
I thought they had volcano eruption recently I remember watching a chanel and the lava swallowing up banana groves ..I might have the wrong place ?
The volcano was on LA Palma island. So devastating it was.
Keep well matey.
You might have been sick as you were leaving home, but I’m betting you caught something on the plane. Air is often recirculated on planes that allow germs to recirculate too. You are good to put up any video at all. From too hot to too cold just can’t be good. Do whatever feels good to you right now.
A nice little break, but get back to your cosy little cottage and the lovely Welsh valleys much nicer
Not in the Winter.
Sorry that you took ill and that the altitude made you feel so poorly. Hopefully you'll be ok. I enjoyed your video well done for doing it 😊
