Modeling of the Dreyse Model 1841 Needle Rifle. This is in the 1/35 Scale. Total modeling time came in at 9 hours and 5 minutes. Done in Blender 4.0.2.
Developed by Nicolaus von Dreyse, this rifle was the first of it's kind to be put into service by a military of the age. These were officially adopted by the Royal Prussian Army in 1841, with their development considered a state secret from ~1827 to 1840. This firearm technology was notably superior to the muzzle-loaded smoothbore muskets that were standard across all major military powers of the 19th century. Utilizing a paper cartridge and breech-loading mechanism, a trained soldier could, in theory, fire 12 rounds per minute, compared to the average 3 rounds per minute of those trained with muzzle-loaders.
