I have been using spray on truck bed liner for the bottom of my coils.
Instead of a coil cover or in addition to it? Did you take off the factory cover & spray it on?
No coil cover. I just sprayed the bottom.
Ah.
After every time I go out detecting I take off the cover and clean it out. It only takes a couple of minutes to clean it.
It's super easy & very important!
I'm afraid to open mine, never done it, only had the detector 3 months though, but ive been through sand, mud and mulched grass in that time
If your detector starts misbehaving you'll know where to look first!
In the name of prevention being better than cure - try sealing the guard with a ring of silicone.
Absolutely not! That'll void the warranty on the coil, not to mention it'll have to be redone every so often. This video is under 2 minutes- that's all it takes to clean it.
