I love that Steven is an actual British dude, not those posh upper-class London sounding characters movies always use. I feel like Steven sounding like an average British person rather than sounding stereotypical helps ground him and make him more realistic, therefore making him easier to relate to and sympathise with.
I had read somewhere that Oscar Isaac had done a lot of research and practice the mannerisms of a British accent and personality thanks to people like Karl Pilkington aka the guy from the idiot abroad series
