Piano Concerto No. 7 (Mozart) In 1776, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed three piano concertos, one of which was the Concerto for three pianos and orchestra in F major, No. 7, K. 242. He originally finished it in February 1776 for three pianos; however, when he eventually recomposed it for himself and another pianist in 1780 in Salzburg, he rearranged it for two pianos, and that is how the piece is often performed today. The concerto is often nicknamed "Lodron" because it was commissioned by Countess Antonia Lodron to be played with her two daughters Aloysia and Giuseppa. The concerto is scored for 2 oboes, 2 horns, 3 solo pianos and strings. It has 3 movements: Allegro Adagio Rondo: Tempo di minuetto
Thank you for that. I love stories of who he wrote for and how arrangements came to be organised. I like to wonder what he might write for today's artists and for the modern instruments that, we're told, sound better, and are supposedly easier to play.
According to Google's description, this was performed by Yehudi and Hephzibah Menuhin..... So much for Google's automated software! How many other videos have totally incorrect information added to them? That said, this performance was something special, and until seeing this, I didn't know that Georg Solti, Daniel Barenboim and András Schiff had ever performed together. Thank-you for educating me! This performance was with the English Chamber Orchestra in the Royal Albert Hall on 18th June 1989.
It can be quite stressfull to be a page turner. As such both reading skills, knowledge of the music and concentration is very important. I have had the privilege of being a page turner at both piano, organ and chamber recitals as well as having a page turner while playing.
I never hoped to see Solti on the piano. Thanks for sharing this. Not too sure how DB was reacting here. He didn't look very happy. I have heard this for 2 pianos before. Cathy
What was Mozart's age when he composed this #7? Are there written records or reviews of the original performances with Mozart at the keyboard? Who else did he perform with for the original performance?
ERIC & CINDY Crowder It was performed for the first time by Mozart himself, his sister Nannerl and a Wolferl's pupil. It was however commissioned by Countess Antonia Lodron to be played with her two daughters Aloysia and Giuseppa
Virtuosismo puro.

Imagine thinking single beat is true when 12year olds could play this in 1750🤡

Thank you so much for this video.
Amazing performance!

Man, Solti did not perform as a pianist that often, but whenever he did, an absolutely stunning performance! Thanks for posting!
Davvero meraviglioso. Triplice bravura.

Thanks for sharing! It's a wonderful performance!
Wow that second movement. How can anyone produce music that beautiful!! Mozart must have a copy of God's personal music collection.
I think he did :-)

this is just an incredible performance....
Fantastico
What a marvellous sound from 3 brilliant pianists together, supplying absolute control & power & beauty.
The poor page turner! Takes a fair amount of bravery, and for Solti too!

I wonder if it’s because he’s not first piano.
If the concert was performed at 1989 and Du Pre's death is at 1987, it might explain the melancholiness in him.
Two pianos? But the concert is written for 3.
eccezionali!!
Che magnificenza!
This is actually the Royal Festival Hall, not the Royal Albert Hall.

I should think that manual page turning could be replaced by something mechanical / digital.

ERIC & CINDY Crowder Mozart was 20 years old when he composed this.. Talk about a level beyond genius, not sure who else performed with him.

I believe Schiff finished first then Barenboim.
Basic, but nevertheless Mozart!!!

Il me manque des écouteurs
Mozart is closer than you think!
8:41 😂😂😂😂😂
I notice Anita Lesker-Wallfisch on cello - a survivor from Auschwitz - no doubt of much interest to these three Jewish pianists
