Hey Gary…. I also found this short video as well as most if not all of the videos that you produce here on UA-cam relevant. I am a patron…..mostly to thank you for the time, effort, dedication that you put into your content. Mainly…..I want to say thank you! (You have to be an incredibly patient individual. I appreciate it.
Definitely found this useful. Most was review for me but your videos are always easy to follow and full of important information. Keep up the great work!
I need to know what all the iPhone 10 max symbols are when you pull down the top rt corner down so I can understand how to mirror on my RoKu. I’ve got the tv set done but now I need to see how to do it on my iPhone. I’m 77 so this is all new to me.
Sounds like you are describing the Control Center. Those are buttons, not icons. Go to Settings, Control Center and you'll see them all and their names.
Very Informative. I was searching for Red Dot question. However, I have a little Red Dot top right above connection status - only when a voice call is active. Only when phone call active & connected, the call is ringing-red dot. Receive call-red dot. No apps have access to Mic. I never use it. I’ve checked Settings, best of my ability. iPhone 12 iOS 16.6.1 Great channel.
Thank you Gary! I found your video to be very informative. I always learn something new with your videos. Great value in that and listening carefully. 👍🏻
I don't think I've ever seen that. Is it at the very top? Can you describe it more? You usually wouldn't find an app or site symbol like UA-cam at the top either. A "hand" usually represents privacy notifications or settings, FWIW.
@@jaythemachine3845 I thought you were asking why it was there in my video. If you see it, it could indicate any app that may be using screen capture. Perhaps some video conference or sharing app? What do you have going on when you see it? Is your iPhone connected to anything?
Not sure what you mean. In the very upper left? On the Lock Screen? Usually that is where you would see your mobile provider's name or graphic. On the Home Screen? Usually you would see the time at the very upper left. Do you mean the little arrow next to the time pointed diagonally? That's the location services indicator. It means iOS and/or some apps are using your location.
@@nickboork Will the ø symbol do? (o with stroke) You can get that by tapping the "o" key and holding it down, then selecting the variation. Otherwise you may need to get a third-party keyboard that specializes in symbols or unicode characters. Another option is to add it as a Text Replacement in System Settings on your Mac, like have "diamsym" replaced with Ø and then that syncs with your iPhone and you can type one and it is replaced with the other.
Screen space, I'd imagine. You can still see the percent in Control Center easily. And remember the number is only a rough estimate. Battery chemistry makes such things very inaccurate.
@@macmost Gary, on my old 6 I could toggle between if I wanted to see the picture of the battery or the battery percentage. No reason why they couldn’t do it on the newer phones. Thanks for your videos.

Excellent job, this is exactly what people need to know, keep up the good work.

On my iPhone 12 Pro, the time is green when I’m on a phone call and blue when I’m using my phone for a hotspot.
You are brilliant!!
The padlock in a circle was making me CRAZY. You explained it so easily that even I understood it. Thank you!

From what content creators are saying about the new iPhone's price point, the symbol $$$ unfortunately is the newest symbol.
😂
A very useful and informative video tutorial today! Thank you, Gary! 👏🏻❤️
Many thanks, very helpful indeed

That just indicates that your microphone is in use, as it would be when you are making a voice call.

On the symbols you’re showing what are the upper left blue little icons?
Not sure which icons you mean.
My iPhone showing a searching icon on the top right ststus bar how to turf off it sit
Does it match anything here? support.apple.com/en-us/118203
I sometimes have a little man alternate with the solid arrow. What’s the man mean?
I can't think of what that would describe.
Thank you! Very much appreciated the information
Great over view.
What is the page address explaining all the symbols for iphones
The one I show in the video? It is support.apple.com/en-us/118203
what is a black hand(raised) at the very top of my screen? right next to the time and youtube icons

@@macmost it might be weather app
do you know if you can change the color of the battery symbol and such?
No, you can't.
I just found out the personal on the focus app will have a human figure.
Why does my iPhone have a plus sign in the left hand corner and done in the right hand corner I can’t seem to remove them thank you in advance
Sounds like you are in some app? Try exiting the app back to the Home Screen. That's my guess anyway. Hard to tell without seeing it.
I have an iPhone 15 plus and sometimes I see an orange dot allllll the way on the top right side of my display. I can’t figure out what it is
It means some app is using the microphone.
Thank you!
This is 😃 information thanks ❤
How about the time background colour is orange? What does it mean? It follows with orange dot on the upper right too
This means the microphone is in use.
Is there a symbol to know when a family member is checking to see where you are located?
What about the really small flickering green light above the clock ?? No one is talking about ??? 😱 what is that ???
Not sure what you mean. A green dot? That means your camera is on.
Hey the fire symbol on the left top of the screen does that mean tinder
There's no "fire" symbol. Describe it in more detail, perhaps?
Why is it so impossible to see what you’re pointing to? It’s always indistinct.
Sorry about that. I do show a red dot on the screen (using a mouse) so you can see where I'm tapping.
I have a little yellow eye with a line going through it when I unlock my phone but it disappears, can you tell me what this is?
Where does it appear, exactly? I don't think I've ever seen a yellow eye with a slash.
Hey Gary - what is this macbook pro symbol - an infinity symbol with a red triangle hazard. Thanks
Sorry, I don't know what symbol you mean.

Is there a shortcut to insert this Ø diameter symbol into a text message on iphone? Thanks in advance, Nick.
No shortcut, just insert it as you would any other symbol or special character.

You probably have Voice Control turned on.
So basically, you’re saying we have no privacy😂
What do you mean? I certainly don't say anything like that.
The top of my new 1 14+ has 7 of 14. What does that mean?

Why can’t Apple bring back the battery percentage on the upper right corner? The iPhones with buttons have a toggle to give you that feature.
