Hey man. Thanks for this video. I've got to crawl under my 2011 Escape with the 3.0 V6 this weekend to fix an exhaust leak and this was great reference material for me. Appreciate the effort to make this video!
I replaced the muffler and tailpipe on my 1969 Ford sedan in 1980 myself to save money. By the time I bought the parts and clamps and jacked it up high and spent 6 hours cutting with a hacksaw and moving the pipe back and forth to free it up and putting the new on, I saved $6!
Thanks for your reply of wisdom and experience. Times are a little different now.. tools are much more efficient and parts are much more affordable. Cheers.
Excellent video, thanks for sharing your experience. Great video, audio and tight editing. Perfect. Would a badly leaking resonator muffler on my 2009 Ford Escape throw a P0303 error code - misfire Cylinder #3?
Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated. A P0303 from my experience would not be muffler related. I would check your spark plugs.. that's usually the most common issue. Next would be the coil pack (if I remember correctly that motor uses coil packs instead of wires) hope this helps. Cheers
@@UncleTinman Yes, Google suggested exactly as you suggested, spark plugs or coil packs. Getting resonator muffler attended to this week at the muffler shop then a tuneup.
My 3.0 duratec muffler has a pinhole in it. It's on the bottom about 3" from the engine side of the muffler. I've heard some mufflers are supposed to have a small pinhole to allow water to drain out. It's an easy fix but I want to be sure I'm not fixing a hole that's supported to be there.
Hey man great video simple one do you know what is the name of welder ? I have bad exhaust I am driving Ford Escape limited edition 2010. Any tips for me please let me know need to change my muffler too.
Thanks for the video, do you have the part numbers for the gasket and pipe clamp you used? Also, just to make sure that Ford escape was the I-4 2.5L engine right?
Thanks for your reply. It was a v6 engine. I don't have the part number. The parts were ordered from a local exhaust supplier. If you call your local auto parts supplier they should be able to reference the parts needed. I often order from rockauto, but for big bulky items as such I think it might he cheaper to order local.
@@UncleTinman thanks again, the video really helped. The only difference in my installation is that the new muffler slid on much easier with much more wiggle room than yours did. With the one pipe clamp, it didn't seem like there was a good seal. So I might get another pipe clamp and set it opposite the other one to try and get a better seal. Or take it to someone to put a bead of weld around it. Either way it sounds so much better and only took about 45 minutes.
Got a question. I got a muffler with a remote controlled bypass valve to make sound exhaust louder. But instead of replacing the muffler, they replace the resonator with the muffler with bypass. Now it made the exhaust sound just the way i like but i notice that after installation my gear changes a little bit late. Before it changes at 2k rpm now it changes at 2.5-3k rpm. Will this case a problem to my car? Do i need ecu tuner or ecu will learn the changes? Also if in case i bring the resonator back and just tell then to replace the muffler do i still need to tune the ecu?
Does the shifting difference occur when using the valve? Or does it occur regardless if you're using the bypass or not. I'm not familiar with the issue. Perhaps ask your tuner.
@@UncleTinman actually shifting is more delayed when closed than opened. I return the car to the mechanic and put it all back to stock and now all is ok even the response of the engine from the throttle is now back to normal.
Hey thank you for the vid! My 08's exhaust is hanging due to one of those rubber straps coming loose (the ones that were a bit rusted in your vid) im trying for the life of me to get it to "go back up" and twist into place but im having loads of trouble. is there anything you recommend? Thank you in advance.
I'm only doing this to pass my safety test, as soon as I fix this I feel like another hole will break open in my exhaust somewhere else because of the increased pressure in the exhaust pipe
True lol, thanks for the video, do all walker exhaust products slip over the pipe or do some need to be welded on, I'm looking to order one but with a different part number, but it doesn't specify whether it slip over the pipe or needs to be welded to the pipe?
Well.. that's not the proper way of doing things... I don't think the customer would appreciate their vehicle being annoyingly loud. Thanks for your pointless remarks
Midas gave me a quote of $1,300 to do this. Thanks, mate, this is a life saver.

Agree with all the other comments. This video is exactly what I needed to see with the same parts I was looking at. Great Job!!

I’m getting ready to do this exact job with this same Walker muffler.
If you spray the rubber isolators with some silicone spray, they come off (and on) a lot easier. Thanks for the video.
Great video man that was quick and easy! Good job brotha!
Man I would be wearing safety glasses. We called the gasket the donut in the old days.lol. Good job. Thanks
Great point. Safety glasses should definitely be worn. I call them donut as well

What size is the muffler clamp?
Nice video. Man I have the same thing going on! Noticed it yesterday omw to work. Damn I wonder what this will cost altogether. Thanks man.
How did you fix the rear hanger? I have a 2012 Ford Escape and my rear hanger has also rusted away.
You would have to weld another one on

Yes. I've seen some mufflers with pinholes for water drain.

Hello, what engine is in that escape? I have a 2008 with the v6 but everywhere I look says my vehicle is not compatible with the Walker 56233.
