    Please make a follow up lesson to this on how to match the recorded audio with a basic iPhone or GoPro video as well.

    I'd also say REAPER is a very good DAW which basically provides all capabilities and goes for $60 for the individual/small-scale business license (and frankly it lets you keep using it past the trial period even if you don't buy the license).
    And RME (Babyface Pro) is another good option for a high end interface. Beyond the hardware itself the company is known for its extremely well made drivers that provide perhaps the lowest possible round-trip latency on a PC.

      @@tubadude07 Yup, and they keep it well updated. I don't use Mac, but in some video that showed on my feed the performances of the M1, M2 and M3 chips were compared with different DAWs and while the pricier Apple-specific Logic Pro didn't use the efficiency cores at all (and on the M3 there are more of those instead of performance cores, so the performance actually lowered) REAPER was able to utilize everything.

    Hi Charles, this is a great video, I have a little experience recording but nothing near as professional as your content. This was fun to watch even though it's just an introduction. I'd love to see u guiding us through a whole recording and editing process of your playing, maybe that's on patron and I apologize for asking for it on here, but anyways, thank u so much for the knowledge you're sharing and for directly helping me out with my playing, you're such an inspiration as a musician, as an educator and as wholesome person. Happy year

    Waayyy back when I was in college radio, digital was just breaking on the horizon, so I had to do things "the old way" with all analog equipment in the studio. I remember recording and mixing tracks on tape machines that I had to physically cut and splice together. You can now do in minutes what took me hours to do back then...😄

    I've been recording myself for a while now, but haven't really worked on quality until recently and have a question. I have a pre-amp, and an eq plugin. Should i set the knobs on the bass to flat and use the daw eq, turn off the pre-amp altogether, or use the pre-amp eq settings and set the eq in my daw to flat? Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Today will be a good day! Today ill go to a guitar shop with my fretless, take off the flatwounds, oil the neck, put on tapewound, take the flatwound and put on my P-bass with frets =)
    I have a beginner P-bass from gear4music (chicago bass) and i love it. It's cheap and reliable. I also have a Mexican made, Fender Player Jazz bass fretless which i just bought, but not played much on it yet because i want that guitar maker to set it up properly with the knobs being lowered and give some TLC to give the bass the sound i want.

    Hi Charles, what strings do you use? I also have another question. I want to finally learn how to tap on the bass. I ordered a new bass (also a neck-through body) and paid for services like intonation, action adjustment etc. And yet I still have that stupid "double sound" when I tap higher notes on the fretboard (basically around 12th fret and higher). So I wanted to ask if you could make a video about how you set up your neck and action, especially for tapping. I would really appreciate that.

    I bought entry level headphones, speakers, mics, audio interface and use GarageBand. Eventually I would like to buy and learn Logic. The first thing I would like to upgrade is my speakers to some HS 5s or KRKs. It does take some time to figure out what you like and how to use it.

    I used to use an old boss 8 track recording mixer with big floppy disks, but my wife upgraded me to a Steinberg interface with Cubase software, but it's so complicated and the audio setup for the computer speakers and sound was constantly troublesome. So even though I have equipment, I never record anymore. Sad. I know.

    I'm not sure about bass, but for electric guitar you are better off recording it out of the amp with a quality microphone - at least that was the case a couple of decades ago when I was making my own first steps in that direction.
    Also, you need to make sure you are using the ASIO drivers for the lowest latency possible on your audio interface.

      @@sahamal_savu I have experienced this many, many times on a wide variety of channels and I've even had replies from the owners of the channel on occasion who were not sure why it was happening thus confirming they were not deleting the comments. UA-cam doesn't allow links, otherwise I'd link you to several very recent examples where this has happened to me while talking about software and their pricing. Some on audio software and some on video software, all completely different channels yet exactly the same result where my comment was deleted. There have also been times where I can split up my comment and post it in chunks, then each piece will go through just fine but it wouldn't go through as a single comment. UA-cam's filter is horrible.

      @Tekkerue 6 місяців тому

      For software, DaVinci Resolve hands down. There is even a free version, which is extremely functional. The paid Studio version is $300 and the current model is that all upgrades are free. The company Blackmagic retains the right to change this in the future, but so far every upgrade has been free. I can't speak to cameras or lighting or anything like that though.

    • @zerosiii
      @zerosiii 6 місяців тому

      @@Tekkerue I mean there's so much things here, even after you get a camera and a lens and set it up. Do you record video and audio at the same time? Or audio separately, and the sync? Then, you probably want to connect your camera to your computer/laptop, instead of recording on battery and SD card and then transferring files, which is annoying. To do this, you need a video capture card (which is just like the Audio Interface, but for video), and a dummy battery for your specific camera, so then you hit "Record" in a software (i.e. OBS) and record directly files to your computer, which is 10x faster then using SD cards

    • @Tekkerue
      @Tekkerue 5 місяців тому

      @@zerosiii Sure, I was only speaking to the editing software not the hardware. To your first question, it depends on how you want to film, if you want to get a perfect audio performance using multiple takes and then make a video for it, you'd probably want to record audio and video separately. Get the audio edited first and then mime a performance for the video where you play along in time while listening to the edited audio, think of a music video. If you want to capture an authentic live performance exactly how you play it, then you'd have to record both audio and video at the same time. In terms of recording to your computer or an SD card, I can't really speak to that as I don't know camera or video capture hardware.
