Turned out nice, very simple design, nice pattern and what a beautiful piece of wood. Think a very dark brown leather sheath would be a good match to complement it. How are the little one and the wife doing?
Really great looking all around belt knife. Beautiful choice on the bloodwood. I made a fretboard out of that stuff and uve seen knife blades less durable lol
Your talent knows no bounds. This was a master class in knife making. Well done! I'm sure it is so much harder than you make it look. The finished product is a joy to behold and would make anyone envious of its owner. I own a few knives, but your creation is sublime.
Would you do a video on the science of the journey of the steel from stock to tempered blade?????. Maybe 1080 or 01 tool steel. Us geeks would love it!!!!!
Once again, I was surprised that this knife was still available. If you want a great handmade knive at a very good price, what are waiting for, buy it. Elijah's knives are strong, sharp, and feel very light in your hand. You can see for yourself how good they look. You will have to buy a different one, because this one is mine.
Would you be able to do a Bronn Game of Thrones short sword that he carries in his back? I'd love to put a bid in for the finished product. Not sure if it'll be the winning bid, but I'd love to see a video about your craftsmanship and enjoy the excitement of bidding on it. Your craftsmanship is bad ass!
Nice build, couldn't help but notice that the sanding of the handles seemed to be put off... Ah, well, it can't ALL be forging cool patterns out! That particular wood was a very nice choice to go with your subtle pattern. You've got a good eye for classic taste.
I swear 01 tool steel is the WORST when it comes to cracking! I forged a couple knives with it and MOST failed. I loved it because it get really really hard but if you forged it too hot or too cold or quenched it at the wrong temperature or a little too fast it would crack every time. I think out of like 8 attempts I got one good knife out of it and even it had some shallow surface cracks.
If you happen to be using flux core in a mig welder or stick welder the flux has a higher melting point than most forge welding temps and can make forge welding a pain in the ass, could be why youre having issues where youre tacking. I kept having that issue for a very long time until a more experienced smith told me what could be causing my issue, if you arent using flux core of any kind then ignore my comment and keep on making good stuff 👍
Very cool. Love to see hand forging! So many UA-cam "bladesmiths" just make cookie cutter knives. You really should treat yourself to a new anvil though. 😄
I know you have to take care of business to feed the family, but I was thinking it would be cool to see you build a fancy blade, you know with a guard butt cap Damascus steel. High dollar one👍 love the channel thank you for the content.
Nice knife 👍. Were you looking after bub while Mum was down at the shops? I could hear a few background noises, sounded like a baby. Regards from Down Under.
He was beautiful background noise🙏🏼 Really cool blade! How come you chose to use the hammer and anvil to forge weld and not the power hammer? Is it just preference or is the power hammer too much for something like that?
Was there potentially a small crack or micro crack in the O1 steel before hand? I just find it odd that it cracked from cooling in water well under a black heat. I never would have expected that outcome
Thanks for sharing this, and for using bloodwood, my favorite handle material. Just curious how you finish the bloodwood; I've tried several products but haven't found one that keeps the red wood red!
Off topic, I watched you putting a finish on a handle that popped up on Facebook the other day. What did you finish ir with that brought out the grain so nicely. Thanks
@@FireCreekForge thank you . just starting to get things together to forge metals to incorporate in my wood turnings. a lot of people i know here in rural virginia have old forged steel anvils but don't use them or want to sell them. any suggestions on where to get a good forge steel anvil , without breaking the bank? thanks again for your time.
If sanding is boring, ya aint doing something right, your arms should automatically just do the work now, muscle memory is real, and this should allow your brain to go wherever it wants to go, I prefer deep life contemplation, mysteries of science, crime, and the supernatural, wherever you're brain decides while your body automatically does the work.
The term "Damascus" has been used to refer to pattern welded steel for centuries, it's only the Wikipedia Warriors in the last decade who have a problem with that.
My little guy (5 months) was helping out with the audio on this one :)
Did this project turn out like you expected?
Turned out nice, very simple design, nice pattern and what a beautiful piece of wood.

@@kennethwatson4489 thanks! Yeah it's some good stuff
Kids are not going to bother me, they’re just a little closer to the Angels. Enjoy them as long as you can.
Love that shirt “the work of His hands!”
I enjoyed your video. Very informative. But mostly I enjoyed your cohost in the background.
Thanks for sharing the journey bother!
Love the running commentary on your videos. Good looking knife.

Thanks much
Thank you I appreciate the feedback!
You make some stunning blades.
That's a good looking blade
Thank you, great looking knife.
Great knife. Your little guy is talkative
That turned out cool as hell

good job and advice
Cool blade for sure mate
Very cool
Beautiful looking knife, I love how the blade almost takes on a wood grain effect using the turnings to make the blade steel. 😁👍🇬🇧
Yes, it kinda does. Thanks for watching!
Great looking knife. I like how you explain each step of the making of a knife. Well done.
Very cool 😎
Another Stunningly Beautiful Blade!
Very cool. 10 minutes ago I didn't know what swarf was. Thanks.
the grain pattern on the knife totally looks like a fine grain wood. i like it alot
Very nice blade as we have come to expect! Must have been your day to babysit! Keep up the good work!
great project Elijah the knife came out very nice very cool pattern love the transition from pattern welded to the o1 edge 👍👍 Mark
Thank you

Cool build Elijah ! I just got back from Alaska with lots of new ideas. Keep up with great work man.
Thanks! Will do!
Yet another great piece! Turned out anazing as usual!

Very nice knife! Great job... 🙂
Beautiful looking knife, great job, thanks for sharing!.

Thanks! Well, I didn't put all the other hand sanding in the video, a little of that goes a loooong way.. Thanks for watching!
Thanks. I like to forge a simple blade when I am doing a client blade too.
Love this knife great job

I have been using a ken onion work sharp for handles. You might like it.
Very niiiice

Keepin’ it real with the baby babble in the background.👍
You bet!
Love your work. I wish you made folding.
Thanks! I'd like to make some folders eventually
I'm gonna need a rolling mill.
Really nice. Do you make dagger style out of heavy stock, with a flute?
Great forge have you ever used ram horn for the handle scales I think the darkness of both steel and scales might look nice just saying

Yes you could used the power hammer carefully, but overkill for this
Was there potentially a small crack or micro crack in the O1 steel before hand? I just find it odd that it cracked from cooling in water well under a black heat. I never would have expected that outcome
I may have forged it at too low a heat
I hear a baby cooing during the narration lol!
Haha yep my little guy was hanging out with me while I did the commentary
I think your blade would've been fine, made totally from drill shavings.
👍 für den Algorithmus
Where do you get your disposable logos stencils for electro etching your logos, been considering starting that type of logo over hot stamping
Are bearing races same steel as the balls/rollers?
Typically yes
Gud vid

Where do you get your wood if you don't mind
I get a lot of it from Bell Forest Products online
What do I hear a baby there ?
Yep, my 5 month old
forged steel or cast iron?
Anyone else hear the noises in the background in the voice over
I used to be a knife maker like you then I took a arrow to the knee. Whoever got what I ment we can be friends.

Forged steel

@@FireCreekForge that's awesome lol. I literally rewound it and listened to it again. I'm at a hotel and wasn't sure where it was coming from 😂
